AACCURATE SAFETY SOLUTIONS - ACCURATE RADON
It went well.   They came on the day that they were scheduled to come, finished the work in one day, and charged me the price which they had originally quoted me.  (There were no surprises.)   Rich Whisler at Accurate spent a lot of time explaining the system to me and in particular, explaining how to tell if it is working properly.  He also explained how to perform the radon tests.   Since the system was put in, I have had no problems with it and it is still running now.  (It was installed February 21st, 2014.   The date of this review is December 31st, 2014.)    Now here are the Radon test numbers: --Before Radon Mitigation System Installation:  The original radon test which was performed just prior to my purchasing the house (and before the radon mitigation system was installed) showed the average radio level to be about 5.3 pCi/l.   --After the radon mitigation system was installed:  The short term radon test showed an average radon level < 0.4 pCi/l.  The long term (90-day) radon test showed an average radon level of 0.6 pCi/l +/- 10%.   (Obviously, these numbers are a HUGE improvement! The radon level was reduced to 1/10th of what it was before.)

Excellent job. Richard and his crew were very thorough. They were prompt and neat. Radon lever went from 20 to 0.6. As a former radon researcher myself I found his knowledge of radon mitigation was superior to the other companies I had give estimates.

Accurate Radon delivered on their promise to reduce my home's radon levels, and it was beyond my expectations. Prior to the install, my radon readings were well over an 8, after the install, radon levels everywhere in the home are under 0.5. Rich Whisler and his team know what they're doing. I found them to be professional, courteous, friendly and easy to work with. They started the job on time, finished on time, and within budget. I highly recommend them.

Accurate Radon was wonderful. They did everything right. They were professional and on time. They explained thoroughly what radon is and how to mitigate it. They displayed a unit outside that looks nice and it matches well with the house. They did a good job. Since they had to go through concrete walls in order to finish the job, I think the price was reasonable for the work performed. I am going to make sure they can continue the radon monitoring and have an on-going relationship with Accurate Radon.

AACCURATE SAFETY SOLUTIONS - ACCURATE RADON
I noticed houses around my own had the tubing for radon systems installed on their exteriors. I was concerned that we might have an elevated radon level in our basement and crawlspace. We tested our basement and confirmed a high radon reading. I looked through the companies here on Angie's List and decided to talk to Rich at Accurate Radon. Rich dropped by our house on short notice on a Friday night. He very thoughtfully explained radon, the mitigation process, and his experiences installing systems around the Chicagoland area. I hate high pressure sales tactics and Rich used none of them - he just explained the process and radon mitigation systems in a straightforward and understandable manner. He also answered the many questions I had and provided us with what I thought was a very fair quote (our project was a little complicated because we have both a basement and crawl space). We hired Accurate Radon the next day. Rich and his current employee came by and explained what they were doing and why they did it. For example, placement of the suction points in the foundation is important, and Rich has enough experience to know where the points will have the best effect. They both worked quickly and professionally and everything was done in a day. We have a continuous radon monitoring device and the amount of radon in our basement literally dropped to 10% of what it was before. That is, the radon reading went down by 90% (basically from a pCi of 11 to 1.1). Radon mitigation systems require maintenance, their most important component is the fan that pulls air from under your basement. Rich services the systems that he installs himself and we're looking forward to not having to worry about the maintenance of the system. Rich and Accurate Radon were as good as I hoped they would be! Very responsive, great service, friendly, and extremely capable. And a fair price to boot. I highly recommend Rich for radon mitigation.

ABRT Home Inspections & Radon Testing
If you are selling your home and the buyers request a radon test, walk don't run to your phone and call David Disnick at BRT Home Inspections & Radon Testing. We failed the first Radon test and had to have a Radon Mitigation system installed in my home. The only good thing about that is the fact that we met David Disnick for the retest. I called on Saturday and he was at my home on Sunday afternoon installing the testing equipment. David is a true professional, extremely knowledgeable and utilized sophisticated equipment that is calibrated after 10 testing situations, an additional 4 times a year and independently tested at a national level once a year. David gave us his personal number and told us to contact him personally with any questions. Do not hesitate. Call David first if your buyers want a radon test. You won't regret it.

Recent Review: Superb. In my 66 years of life, I would only give an A + rating to a handful of vendors. Professional Radon Systems gets an A+. I did a ton of research including talking with the state of Illinois director who oversees the accreditation of radon mitigation contractors. I had 5 radon mitigation contractors provide estimates for the work needed. I had a very difficult situation. 1950 built house, slab, no basement or crawl. Red clay drain tiles are laid under the slab as HVAC ducts. These clay tiles could potentially be barriers to the radon mitigation system air flow. 4 out of the 5 contractors said 1) I had to seal these clay HVAC ducts with concrete and 2) Put in a whole new furnace and HVAC duct system through the attic before they would only guarantee a 3.9 pci/l. Total cost of the radon mitigation system and new heating system close to $20,000. Professional Radon Systems provided a 2.0 pci/l or lower guarantee for $3,900 with no changes to the HVAC system. You will probably not have this kind of situation or cost. Professional Radon Systems: 1) Was on time, 2) Finished the work in less time then was projected. 3) Friendly and highly professional. 4) Constructed a radon mitigation system that is concealed, meaning visitors don't see it, and quiet. 5) I am extremely neat. I had hand washed the attic. Some saw dust was left after their work. I could have cleaned it up in less than a minute, but I am a stickler for customer service. I asked for Professional Radon Systems to come back and clean it up. It was done within a couple of days. I had this service done in April 2017. Today, April 2019, my radon test shows 0.3 pci/l, significantly lower than the 2.0 pci/l guarantee. Everything is perfect.

Recent Review: Very well. I got three estimates and Dupage was the middle of the three. Our house is a unique footprint and required mitigation below three slab portions of the foundation. The other two estimates were both going to get a waiver for one difficult to reach slab but Dupage came up with a unique solution that solved the problem by addressing all three slabs for about the same price. I liked that the estimate was given on site instead of over the phone. The installation went well and was done in 3/4 of a day. The site was clean and other than the PVC pipe in the basement it was done a cleanly and unobtrusively as I could have expected.

Recent Review: Mike from Inspect Inc was extremely professional and thorough. Not only was he thorough during the inspection, doing all the dirty work you'd want an inspector to do, but he went back out to the site on his own because he felt there was something he wanted to look at again.  He wrote an extremely comprehensive report with pictures and footnotes; he amended it with more information after his second visit to the site. He was very prompt in returning my first message (on a Sunday), but also on two other occasions- one was again on a Sunday, and the other was during the week when I needed some professional advice.  I couldn't have been happier with the service.  I truly believe that if you hire Mike, you will be as thrilled as I was.  I will recommend him in the future, and my realtor said she will too.  I was extremely lucky to find him. *chose "good" for price only because I didn't really have anything to compare it to. edit- to remove from band of neighbors
