CHickcox Brothers Marine Inc
This is to modify my May 26th review after Mike Hickcox requested after he provided me with his quote. Therefore, per Mike's request the following is my modification of my May 26th review. After writing my May 26th review on Angie's List Hickcox Brothers called me and advised me the reason I did not get my quote was because "my information fell through the cracks" and they apologized. They did provide a quote but I had to provide them with a drawing from another contractor that I liked to expedite getting me my quote. I had to strip all mention of the other contractor's name who actually took the time went to my house and came back with their recommended drawing, not to say that I was uncomfortable providing another contractor's drawing to them. I guess I just expected them to perform the work needed in order to earn my business like the other contractors. I advised Mike when he was providing a quote please don't waste your time and mine if you are going to come back with a quote that was not competitive in the market place. In the end I received just that a quote that was not competitive in the market place and way out of line with the other contractors and yes that was a wasted exercise for Mike and I. I felt Mike was only providing this quote to placate me, so that I would change my review of Hickcox Brothers and protect their rating on Angie's List. I do not have an ax to grind with Hickcox Brothers and this review is accurate and honest. As I advised Mike I do not like when people waste my time as my time is very valuable and I am not  that naive to see that his goal was to get me to change my review and his rating on Angie's List. Maybe next time Mike should be more concerned about providing good service and the ratings will take care of themselves.

AM DENNISON CONSTRUCTION
Marshall came to give us an estimate on Saturday. He came exactly at the time he said he would, spent time understanding what we needed and quoted us a very fair price. He came out with his workers on Monday, made sure they knew what needed to be done. He came everyday to check on progress and see if there were any questions or problems. His staff were at our house early, worked the whole day, very professional. They built exactly what we needed in a very timely manner. We were absolutely thrilled with their work, as unfortunately we've had some opposite experiences with other companies we've worked with. I would highly recommend them.

ATIMBERSEAL, LLC
Greg Rentschler and team were great. He came out quickly to quote our job. The work Timberseal did was fantastic. They power washed all our exterior decks and siding on our house. Then they stained and sealed all our decks and dock. Finished product is wonderful. Only minor complaint was that the work was quoted to be done in mid September (on August 2nd) and the work was not completed until the last week of October. BUT, it was done in an area of Indiana where its impossible to find contractors to do work let alone good quality work. Thanks Timberseal!

CHANDYtech
They showed up on time on the first day. One of two people that showed up did a good job powerwashing our deck and patio. The second person that showed up was unprofessional at best, talking on her cell phone and just standing around the majority of the time. It only took one person to powerwash, but we got docked for the hours of two people from the Big Deal we bought. They gave 8 hours of total time for the Big Deal, and they counted the two people being there on the first day as 6 hours. So we only had 2 hours left for painting the deck. On the second day, 1 person showed up. He was unprepared for painting the deck - he said he didn't realize he would be painting that day. But painting was part of what we originally asked for...??? He then told us that he could do one coat of paint on the entire deck in 4 hours, so we paid for an extra 2 hours. But he was only able to finish most of the railings. Our deck is not overly large either - it's about 14 feet by 12 feet. We feel that we did not get enough service for the amount we paid - we got docked too many hours on the first day, and we didn't get all of what was promised on the second day.

AJay's Quality Painting Inc
I would highly recommend Jay because of his competence, execution and outstanding customer focus. I have asked Jay to quote on additional work, and expect to be using him again over the summer.. It went very smoothly. Jay kept me informed of progress with repeated text messages, since I was traveling out of state when the work was done.

Overall experience was great.  It was actually a 2 part process with the existing deck being replaced 1st.  This part took approximately 4-5 days.  Demo was quick.  The deckers were awesome.  Showed up everyday and on time (early)... but not too early so as not to disrupt the neighbors.  Bob @ Premier / DJS took care of all the city red tape and got the citation lifted with the city since it was all built to code and done properly.  The experience with Premier / DJS was so great - we had them back for the roof top garage deck addition (part 2).  The garage was very old - and existing roof would not support the roof top deck, so it was a complete tear down.  This took approximately 7-10 days for everything (with a couple of bad weather days mixed in).  Other then that - again, the guys showed up everyday and on time.  Included demo, hall away debris, rebuilt of joists, roof, brick siding, & finally deck plus stairs that adjoined both floors of the 2-flat (roof top garage is common space, so this was important to us), new downspouts too. I also should add that they included electrical work on this job to add outdoor outlets scattered (to code of course) around the roof top deck plus a cable outlet for the all important outdoor tv, docking station for music, blenders, etc.  :)  Also re-did electrical work inside the garage since after tearing down roof - discovered that current electrical lines were not up to code / safe.  They threw in a couple of extra lights in the garage and that feels much safer when coming home after dark (given the alley access). Both Bob & Dave @ Premier / DJS are great, including the guys they have working for them.  I have continued to use them on other jobs since I was so happy with their work (from permits, to planning, to execution, to cleanup)... all the way around - simply fantastic & I would highly recommend them.  I wish I could post pics... it's a fantastic space! To be honest - I actually let my angieslist membership recently expire because I figured I didn't need to use anyone else besides Premier/DJS... but as a homeowner - one can never be too careful and it doesn't ever hurt to keep your options open.  So I renewed at AngiesList, but after looking around at some other contractors... I'm sticking with Premier / DJS.

ASKG Home
Where to start, it?s been quite an experience from start to finish all pretty positive, and I feel lucky for having come across Ira, Marcin and Arthur. Ira the owner of the company has been accessible throughout the entire project, and would call a few days in advance filling me in on things to come. He also kept the management of the building in the loop which can be a headache in itself. One afternoon when Home Depot was delivering all my bathroom fixtures Ira just happen to be checking in on the garage to insure he had access to the loading dock and saw me standing there as the deliver guy was unloading heavy items that I had to manage myself. He placed a call and when he had no resources available he helped me move everything into the unit, including a 300 lbs cast iron tube that he paid the delivery guy an extra $10 to handle, though the deliver guy was pretty adamant with me about not being able to enter units. On top of that Ira supplied the tiles for the job and on several occasion he brought by samples, and if there wasn't something that we liked he brought by more samples. He came with me to pick out the slab of granite as well as the sink, and he threw in sink racks for both bowls of the sink as gifts from Elite Home Builders. He also managed to get the granite place to throw in a granite cutting board. Marcin and Arthur are dedicated workers, who are extremely talented and efficient at their craft. They do not impose and are very polite, if it weren't for the noise construction normally makes one wouldn't even know they were there. They also did not hesitate to correct something if it was not to specification. An example was the toilet paper roll being a few inches too high; they lowered it without a problem. Accidents happen, and there were few, actually only one that really stands out, when they were installing the 300 lbs tube they put it through the bathroom wall because it was slightly bigger than the space it needed to fit in. They repaired the hole in the wall for no extra cost. Ira has also been pretty accommodating both my wife and I work full time and are usually available late afternoon. Ira would have no problem meeting us after hours, or on the weekends, he also took care of meeting with the fabricator for the granite while we were at work. It's been about a four week long project, and the experience was really positive. I had my doubts about remodeling at first, having never done it but overall it?s been amazing and the results are incredible. A lot of people who have had remodeling keep telling me how fortunate I was to have found this company. I highly recommend them.

AInspired Living Spaces
Great job by Jay Lovett and his team on a very difficult project. We purchased a 1970s vintage condominium in terrible condition, totally gutted the interior down to the concrete demising walls of the unit, and completely rebuilt it. The project included a new kitchen, two new baths, a substantially revised floor plan, and extensive carpentry, tile and electrical work. Jay had recently completed an extensive renovation of my sister's suburban house, and came very highly recommended, both for the quality of his work and his integrity. Unlike a lot of contractors in the home remodeling business, Jay has an extremely well organized and professional approach. He analyzes the project in a very structured way, defining precisely the scope of work to be done and coming up with a preliminary budget, which is refined continually as the work proceeds. He is very experienced, and has a lot of design ideas and product suggestions. He is also very value oriented, and looks for the most cost effective (but not necessarily the least expensive) way to deliver a high quality product. Once work began Jay was continually on the job, monitoring the progress of work and coordinating the interaction of the several trades involved in a project of this scope. His trades are great -- especially Chris, his master carpenter, who also acted as the jobsite foreman for our project. Jay was also great at staying in touch; he kept us apprised of the progress of the work, checked with us whenever the inevitable surprises in the job popped up and offered us a range of possible solutions to any problems that arose. Working in a downtown highrise requires a lot of additional coordination -- with the building engineers, the freight elevator, loading dock, etc. Jay and his guys were very good at interacting with the building management, engineer and neighbors, keeping tempers cool and everyone calm during a four month long, and periodically noisy and dirty, process. I understand that more than one neighbor has already approached him about working in their units. As we approached completion of the job Jay showed great attention to detail. There were even instances where he repainted or repaired areas we thought looked fine, but weren't completed to his satisfaction. While our project was completed quite recently, so far his follow up has been excellent. We have attached a few pictures of our completed project so you can judge for yourself how it came out. (If only you could have seen the "before" photos!) We would recommend Jay and Inspired Living Spaces without hesitation, for any job -- including a big one like ours. His professional approach, great tradesman and the pride he takes in his projects are things you always hope you will get when you hire a contractor.
