Recent Review: When water stains began forming in the downstairs family room, we hired Dave to come and fix the problem (based upon the recommendation of our insurance agent). He diagnosed the issue as failure of the tile grout in the master shower above the family room. He presented an estimate ($900), and began demolition the next day. He and his partner completely removed the shower surround, the tile, and the damaged wallboard/insulation/plastic sheeting behind. They were prompt, respectful, responsive, and clean in their appearance and workmanship (They completely cleaned the bathroom each night before they left, so we could still use the bathroom barefoot in the night and before work in the morning - very thoughtful). Unfortunately, even though they were deliberately forewarned that my wife is very persnickety regarding color (she is an art teacher), and thus would like to have to have final approval of the tile color, they chose to complete the job with a tile color that was a shade off from the surrounding tiles (hence, the "B" rating). I suspect they felt no one would notice or really care... She was livid, and told him so in no uncertain terms. The next day, Dave rather sheepishly removed all the new tile, and began again. While he was removing the new tile, the course above it fell from the wall, revealing even more damage than previously noticed - further demolition (in my presence) revealed water damage a full five feet up the wall. There was no choice but to demolish the entire wall and begin again from scratch (the price increased to $1200 to accommodate the extra new materials and the additional new labor - of course the redo of the error was free). As he was redoing the wall anyway, he included a lovely little built-in alcove shelf (complete with decorative detail) as a peace-offering to my wife. His workmanship was excellent, and the water problem is completely fixed. Naturally, the tiles matched.
