Business Description: We manufacture Advanced Energy Panels (AEPs). AEPs are a retrofit for historic windows or any window people can't afford or don’t wish to replace. AEPs are interior window insulating panels and can be installed in any building –office, home or industrial. AEPs have a higher insulation and air sealing rating and provide greater comfort than most replacement windows, yet they are a fraction of the cost. AEPs are custom made to fit over existing openings, protecting, preserving and improving your existing windows.
Recent Review: John Carroll and US Home Improvement were excellent from start to finish. These windows were installed in my mother's home and we met with 4 firms before making a decision. At most of the other firms you are dealing with a sales person that then hands you over to an installation team....not so with John and US Home Improvement. John picks up his phone when you call (every time), schedules his own appointments, shows up on time, explains everything clearly and then is there with his team of installers when the work is performed. Installation of all 24 windows was done in one day with a team of 6 installers, all of whom were professional and experienced. My mother had one very minor issue with one of the windows a few days after installation and John came over the same day and quickly rectified the issue personally. The windows were top rated and were better than those being offered by his competitors....the windows were the equivalent of the competitor's next window up from what they were quoting which you can easily determine using any two company's window specification literature. Also, John's pricing was very simple (and included a 10% discount for Angie's List) compared to the competitors....he quotes one price per window that includes the grids, installation and insulation of the space the pulleys used to occupy. If you have lead paint in the home like we did, there is an additional fee to cover the extra expense of complying with the mandatory government regulations. All firms charge an extra fee for lead paint though the amount does vary a little by provider. Other providers started out looking cheaper but it turned out they had separate fees that got added in for the grids, insulation and anything else they could think of, which was kinda silly because why would you spend all this money on energy efficient windows and then not insulate the space where the pulleys used to go? When John came over to measure the windows we realized that the shades were going to have to be moved from their current location inside the existing window's tracks to a location outside of the tracks for the new windows. As a result we were going to need new hangers for the shades. John didn't charge us anything additional for the 48 new hangers and the time to install them....I'm not sure the other places with a fee for everything would have done that. Overall, John and US Home Improvement were a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. They had an excellent window, great pricing, were professional, showed up on time, finished ahead of schedule, cleaned up everything and were responsive before, during and after the installation. I highly recommend John Carroll and US Home Improvement.
Recent Review: Very well. We can already feel the difference in our bedroom, it's substantially warmer. They came on time and were very professional. They were a no nonsense type of company. They were hard working with a very good price.

Recent Review: Estimator came quickly, provided a competitive bid. Installers arrived and completed installation in 1 day. Left area neat. Now able to work in garage with small heater in winter and without heat buildup in summer.
Recent Review: Perfect in all respects. The crew chief (Diego) and his men were on time, polite, and cleaned up after the work was done. There was some minor damage to a bulk head door which was examined by Anthony Olivieri. He approved the repair and it was taken care of quickly. I will use this company in the future and would recommend them to anyone needing work done. (windows, siding, insulation, etc.) Howard W. Evers
Recent Review: Dan and his crew coordinated with roofers to insulate two small flat roofs. There were complications (some rotten wood discovered, some rain dates, etc.), which they worked around cheerfully. The rest of the work (attic insulation, duct wrapping, wall insulation) was straightforward. When they discovered that about half the house already had insulation, they dropped their price.
We had 29 new construction windows completed by Professional Building Services. They turned out far better than we could have ever expected. Because of the detailed trim work that the crew did, you can hardly tell that they are vinyl windows. They also did a ton of insulation around the outside and inside of the windows, which has been great for holding the heat in our house.

Our experience with Rob Calnan, Loretta, and his whole team has been excellent - we should have filed four reports because over the past year and a half they have been here four times in our two-apartment home: insulation downstairs apartment, windows upstairs, insulation upstairs, windows downstairs. We had to space the work out for money reasons, and to take advantage of the rebate program. Rob is incredibly personable, and very thorough and knowledgeable about the process of his work. He helped us with the MassSave rebate program (and the potential pitfalls thereof), and Loretta has been so helpful in scheduling and getting paperwork to us. The whole crew was great too - very polite and they turned out some quality work. We are so pleased with the work they have done. The windows open and close perfectly, and afterward the work area was clean as a whistle - Rob really demonstrated his knowledge and they use safe practices of the state remodeling/lead rules, which eased our mind since we have a small child. I can't say enough good things about the whole crew, and we will definitely be having them install the remaining insulation in the attic and basement next year. Highly recommended!

The work turned out very, very well. I have them for multiple occasions. If I need anymore work I will definitely call them.

I reached out to Sergio's Renovations several times over the course of almost two months: I called twice, emailed directly twice, and even sent a message via Angie's List based on his strong rating and reviews, but never heard back.

After I had to call them 6 weeks after windows were ordered (they said 5 to 6 weeks), they were 2 weeks behind schedule for install; I had to apply pressure to have install before December. I thought they were expensive; I could have found it cheaper elsewhere. They did do a good job, though.

ANorthshore Window & Siding
They did a thorough job of installation, making sure the insulation was right (we'd had problem with replacement windows and proper insulation and sealing in the past), and also repaired a part of the exterior window trim that turned out to have been rotting and leaking into the window wells unbeknownst to us. We're very satisfied with the new windows, and it was great to sleep through a windy rainy night without hearing any rattling storm panes or feeling any damp air blowing in through the edges of the windows!

They did quality workmanship. They were consummate professionals and did an excellent, excellent job. I liked their windows and doors. I went to their showroom and saw the windows ahead of time. There were no hitches. The windows are tight and they work seamlessly. It was a perfect insulation job and they insulated the walls when they put the windows in. They did a wonderful job and they measured to perfection. There is no gapping on the sides and they did a really exceptional job on the installation.

Great! We have a 140-year old Victorian with third floor knee walls, very hard to insulate. Rob and his sons did a thorough job of applying high R-value insulation between the rafters, so we will have a cold roof to prevent ice dams in the future. Also had old casement windows in the basement that were falling apart, and they rebuilt four windows with new frames that look like cabinet work. Reasonable prices, great attitudes -- can't recommend more highly!

BRogers Insulation Specialists
I only used them as a source of research for insulation and replacement windows. Looked in line with everyone else.
