St Jean Heating & Cooling
Recent Review: I can't say enough good things about St. Jean. We were in a bind when we discovered issues with our ductwork (installed by someone else) and were in the middle of installing a ceiling. They came quickly, did a superb job, were friendly and informative, and charged us less than expected. Thank you so much, St. Jean, you really saved us. We will never go to anyone else.

Recent Review: Very responsive. Spent a lot of time figuring out exactly what was needed to do the job right - running ductwork behind existing cabinets can be tricky. The job itself took a long time (hence the high price) but he did a really good job. It is very professional looking and works great.

Recent Review: Dave and his crew are good people and are very competent without being pushy.  There were a fair number of complications installing ductwork in an old house but he handled all with his wealth of experience. I was glad to find Dave after one of the large local companies with whom I had spent well over $40,000 over the past decade couldn't find the time to come to a new house.

Coastal Heating & Air Conditioning
Award 2018Super Service Award
Recent Review: In August, I called Coastal for a central air estimate. Sunny the office manager arranged for Mike (owner) to come to the house the following week. He did a walkthrough and said we could add AC to our existing (old) furnace and also talked to us about the new Mitsubishi heat pump/AC units that could possibly be installed.  After his visit I promptly received an estimate of the cost of the installation. Thinking I should get other estimates, I called a couple of other companies but one was not responsive and the other told me they couldn't accommodate my request for an estimate for several weeks. Given the good reviews here and the courteous service I had already received from Coastal I decided to go ahead with the installation, but before I did, decided to get the air ducts cleaned. The tech who came out did a thorough job of cleaning the ductwork, which hadn't been touched in the 20 years that we lived in the house. On installation day the crew, including an electrician, showed up early in the morning. They had been at my house for a short time, preparing to do the installation, when they told me they were really sorry but they had bad news -- the installation couldn't be done because my old furnace (original to my late-50s era house) and the air conditioning unit were not compatible, and that the area where I wanted the outdoor unit did not provide enough air circulation. I was not only disappointed but frustrated since the owner of the company had done the estimate and I thought he should've been aware of these issues. Both the techs and I got on the phone to Coastal. While I talked to Sunny, who was very apologetic, she was on the phone with the owner so they were aware of the situation, and actually acknowledged that they made a mistake. She looked up my furnace make and model and confirmed that it was not possible to install AC with it. She said I had a couple of options -- one was to install the Mitsubishi wall units (more expensive and not what I wanted), and the other was to install a new furnace. I was a bit overwhelmed by that thought and said that would depend on the cost, as I was not prepared to replace the furnace. Of course, a third option was to get a refund on my deposit and forget the whole thing, which I considered! Then Coastal surprised me by saying they would install a new furnace at cost (and offered to show me their receipt) since they had put me at a disadvantage. After some thought I decided to go with this option and scheduled the installation for a couple of weeks later.  The crew once again showed up promptly, and this time they spent the day removing my old furnace, installing a new one, and installing the AC units on the furnace and outside in the area that we had re-done to allow for better air circulation under the deck. They also insulated the ducts directly around the furnace (but just those?not the ductwork that leads to the rooms) to contain the heat. The techs and the electrician were courteous, professional, and very neat. The electrician did have to come back the next day to finish up but that was not a problem. He even pointed out to me that he thought I had a gas leak in my basement and that I should call National Grid (which I did, and sure enough I did have a small leak that I had to take care of). On this 25 degree morning I am happily sitting in my nice warm house. The new furnace and my clean ducts heat up my house in a fraction of the time of the old furnace. I've noticed that the area around the furnace is not as hot as it was before, so I feel the heat is going into the house instead of the basement, which is a good thing. I have not used the AC yet but look forward to being nice and cool next summer.  I would recommend Coastal to anyone looking to have this kind of work done. Yes, they made an error when they did the estimate, but they admitted it and then made it right, and the price was quite reasonable. On top of that, all of the people I dealt with (especially Sunny) were very pleasant and professional. I plan to use them for any service I need in the future.

Recent Review: All-Temp was awesome and we highly recommend them. We had several companies come out and give us proposals for our challenging heating/cooling problem. Bob was incredibly professional, knowledgable, and his proposal was leagues above the others in terms of functionality and problem solving. His price was competitive but not significantly more expensive than any of the others. I knew from the start that his company was very professional. The installation went really well. I was told it would take a full week with 2 crews and that is exactly the amount of time it took them. The men who came to the house were courteous, clean, and diligent. The project went smoothly and we are so pleased with our long awaited functional and economical heating/cooling system!

Central Air Solutions LLC
Recent Review: We had a fantastic experience working with Central Air Solutions to install our new central air conditioning/heat pump. We first met George McDonald who gave us a range of options in terms of the components and was very willing to work with us to meet our exact needs. We were retrofitting our Colonial with the central air system and this involved running 3 zones of ductwork. The quoted cost from Central Air Solutions was less than others and the components were of a higher grade than from their competitors. Next, we met Adam Sprizza, owner of Central Air Solutions, to establish the exact requirements of the job. They were able to begin the work about 3 weeks later. The job took 8 business days to complete and the crew, led by Curt, was exceptional. They went above and beyond to ensure that we were extremely happy with each aspect of the job. In addition, they were very clean throughout the entire process. Both Adam and George remained involved during the job and we felt very well taken care of. We also needed to upgrade our electrical panel from 100 amps to 200 amps. The electrical company that Adam uses completed this work as well. They also did a great job and did it at a very reasonable price. We would definitely recommend Adam and his team to others that are seeking an HVAC contractor or for your central air servicing needs. ps

Recent Review: The owner came to do the estimate and we found him very informative, honest, and not pushy in any way. The workers that did the installation were extremely punctual, considerate (always wore shoe covers, etc) and professional. Each day that they left the house, you would never have known that they were even there because they cleaned up so well and never left any "evidence" of their presence. When they were finished with the work, they made sure that we knew where the filter traps were located, how to use the thermostat, etc, and answered all of our questions to our satisfaction. We were SO impressed with their workmanship (and the finished product), that we have used them since for other things (like servicing our oil tank, etc.) and have never regretted it for one minute! We highly recommend them to anybody who is considering HVAC work. You will be very pleased!!!

FAssured Service Plumbing Heating & A/C
Job was done 9/11/12 and we didn't have weather to give it a good test until following May of 2013 when the system didn't cool. At that time company came out and supposedly fixed the problems but didn't. After many calls & appointments were not kept, and some that were, but only cooled the attic, not the house.  We hired 2 different companies to give us an idea of what to do. Both agreed the system was not installed correctly We ended up having to pay another company $3005.00 to remove completely and install ductwork with major modifications. We sent the owner Eric Michael Chaffee a registered letter explaining the cost to fix his work that he did not fulfill the warrantee, and attempts by the Post Office went unsigned for. When we ended the summer the house was cool and attic insulation no longer flowing through the ducts to coat us inside.

ASila
From the get-go, I was extremely impressed with Steve Markussen (our sales rep) and the entire team at Sila Air.  They provided a very reasonable quote compared to their competition, and a clear, definitive plan of what we should expect and what could/could not be done given our home's construction.   Since our home, like many in New England, is wood-frame and older construction, with a finished attic, we weren't really interested in opening up the walls to install ductwork - the high-velocity air conditioning system that Sila offers was the solution. It uses 2" hose routed through the spaces between the rafters/stringers, and the vents (we ended up with between 2 and 4 per room) look like recessed light fixtures with a small hole in the center.  Very unobtrusive. Danny, a lead installer with 13 years' experience doing these systems, called us promptly after signing the agreement to schedule our installation, which took a total of 4 days and was performed by himself and another gentleman.  They were courteous and professional throughout the installation process - even though I work from home, I hardly noticed that they were here - and cleaned up thoroughly as they went along from room to room, covering everything in plastic sheeting before doing anything which generated dust, then vacuuming up whatever did fall elsewhere. When all was said and done, we had a very clean installation in our attic kneewall space of an energy-efficient air handler and a MERV-16 filtration unit (same filtration level hospitals use for general surgery), along with a carefully-laid-out series of vents throughout the rooms and an unobtrusively-placed condenser unit outside the home (which thankfully is very quiet).   Since installation, we've noticed that we don't feel drafts unless standing directly below the vents, which make only a very soft"whooshing" noise when on, and our rooms and attic are consistently at a uniform temperature.  The filtration unit makes a huge difference - no pollen whatsoever, a significant reduction of dust everywhere, and the removal of the odor of the vehicles which pass by on the heavily-traveled street we live on. Bottom line: I would highly recommend both Sila and the high-velocity system to anyone looking to economically add central air to their home without the disruption of tearing walls out.  Steve was excellent to work with, as was everyone else.
