Recent Review: Eric showed up on time and got straight to it. He happily worked around a large moving team as he did his work. The project took Eric about 1.5-2 days to complete. The results are excellent. We had a small miscommunication about the expected work in one room, but Eric took care of it without additional charge (this took about 30 minutes ... it was pretty small). Better, he wasn't at all argumentative and clearly prioritized quality results and customer satisfaction. I've rated Eric as 'B' for price but I admit I don't know what it should cost. I simply didn't have time to get additional quotes, and Eric was the first and only provider to respond. Then again, he was there when I needed him and did a great job.

House Doctors
Recent Review: Handyman showed on time and got started right away. 1st day he patched and applied mud to the ceiling. 2nd day he painted the ceiling. He matched the popcorn ceiling paint that we have. You can't even tell there was a hole in the ceiling once he finished. Everything was covered during the work and cleaned up when he finished. My wife and I would highly recommend House Doctors and will use them again.

Extreme Company
Recent Review: I thought Extreme Co did a very good job. I live in a building with strict rules for contractors (no working except between 9-5, specific equipment transportation requirements, no working on weekends) and a tight deadline, but we managed to bring Extreme Co in on a Monday and get almost all the work done by the Friday. Most of the contractors we met didn't think the work could get done in such a short amount of time or had full schedules, but we needed to get it done because of a tight moving window. Needless to say, despite being held up their first day by the building manager, who informed them of the building's rules, they kept to schedule and managed to get almost everything done by the end of the week. They were very accommodating of the movers on the Friday, giving us room to move everything in before continuing painting. We agreed that they should come back on Monday and do a few touchups (Building management wouldn't let them work or move stuff over the weekend)), so they left their equipment here through the weekend. The only negative I'd give them is in punctuality, as they had to reschedule touchups from Monday to Tuesday because of sickness, forcing us to endure one extra day with some of their equipment taking up the kitchen of our 1 bedroom condo. Other than that, I was very impressed with the quality of the work they managed to do in such a short amount of time, especially in Downtown Boston where it can be a nightmare to get work done at strict condos.

Mike's Maintenance
Recent Review: Excellent. The place looks brand new. We have not moved in yet, so we gave Mike the key and he worked steadily until it was all done. He texted and phoned us throughout the process and sent pictures to show us the progress. He brought in an electrician and a plasterer and supervised their work. We stopped in every few days and we are thrilled with the results.

Recent Review: I have had Rob to my home a few times to in the past few years. As a (petite) woman owning a home, you often need help, so I keep a list of items I need help with and have Rob come to my home to fix them. This time a kitchen cabinet door had come off it's hinges and had to be rehung. The hinges on all the other cabinet doors loosen up as you use them and need to be tighten up one a year. I bought  a new smoke alarm to replace an old one that had been up for 15 years.  It was on the second floor landing and I was not going to get up on a ladder near the stairs to put it up, so Rob put it up for me. I had bought a new snow blower last year which my brother had  assembled for me, but he made one error in the setting up and I could not make him understand the problem, so had Rob fix it for me. I had received  a new bird feeder for Christmas. I had Rob take the old one down and cut the pole so the new one would be at the right height for me to reach it to fill. The drawers in one of my kitchen cabinets had come apart due to the weight of the items I had stored there. Rob glued the drawers back in place. Rob painted over a small water stain on the ceiling in the entry way.  It looks fine and the whole ceiling does not need to be painted. My popcorn ceiling in the living room had a couple of spots were it had come loose and was hanging down. Instead of trying to use a popcorn repair paint, Rob was able to just glue them back to the ceiling. They look fine now and we hope they will stay up for a while.

Recent Review: Don was incredibly professional and did an absolutely amazing job. We had him completely renovated our kitchen, including removing one non-load barring wall. He and his partner, Eric, we always very friendly and very easy to talk with about each day's tasks. One of the deciding factors when we choose to work with Don, was he only works on our job. He doesn't have multiple jobs at multiple locations going on at the same time. This was very important to us. When he gave us his quote, he was completely honest with us, and we was talking to work with us, knowing we were trying to respect our budget. Other contrators were trying to sell me on things 'we needed', Don absolutely did not do this. Don and Eric were very polite to my family and kids when they arrived every morning. The work : -Demolished a wall to extend our kitchen, -Removed old linoleum flooring -Removed 6 in. soffit above old cabinets -Installed new cabinets that we purchased -Painted the wall/trim -Added backsplash -Scrapped old popcorn ceiling and then smoothed and painted -installed new plank laminate flooring -Installed new recessed lighting -Added new trim to floor and door casings -Installed new kitchen sink/faucet Everyday, they'd clean up all their tools and debris so it wouldn't be discovered our little kids. I've had contractors in the past would who not even think about doing this. They completed the entire job from demolition to the final walk through in a total of 17 working days. Don was very transparent with everything he was doing, and made sure we were well aware of every step. He made us feel very comfortable that we were in good hands. We absolutely love our kitchen. Don and Eric are incredibly professional, and very personable. I highly recommend them to anyone. We will be using them again, as I've already reached out about a quote for another potential project in the coming months.

Recent Review: To be honest, everything went much better than I anticipated.  I've had Chris do work for me in the past when he gutted one bathroom and renovated the other.  They are exquisitely done.  Chris is always there when he says he will be.  I also find that he pays attention to small details.  Another thing I like is that he cleans up after himself and leaves the place really neat during projects.   Everything is done to perfection and I am now looking forward to having him do my kitchen renovation next.  He does everything with excellence.

Recent Review:  The contract inclued money the contractor saw on my ins. paperwork, and I didn't realize it,  it was for snow clearing and the loss of a gazebo, which had nothing to do with the damages.. it was not specified at the time he presented the paperwork, and never mentioned to me.  This money he said would go towards a hardwood floor along with the possibiity of me doing a little of the painting to offset the cost of the floor install.  ( I never got the floor) The people performing most of the work,  made a huge mess of my home, I had to repeatedly point out that they were leaving things not done, and asking them to redo them.  I would expect them to come to work and they would show up one day then not again for a day or two for a few hours.  The work performed was drastically overpaid for the quality of what they actually did.  They had been paid two thirds of the contract price and the bank wanted to be assured the work was completed before releasing anymore money, I am glad they didn't now.  I had to tell them not to come to my home again. I believe One of the crew members stole my watch, and one of my tools. I have never had a theft in my home until this time  I was and am still extremely upset.  I expected a more professional experience from these people.

I got 4 bids on the work, with Alex/Extreme Co being the only company I invited from Angie's List based on his excellent reviews.  He came over the next day and provided a fair estimate a day later.  He wasn't the cheapest, and wasn't the highest priced, which I liked.  And he was obviously just a really good guy that i felt comfortable trusting.  I had the luxury of being able to leave my condo while the work was done, and so i moved out and Alex's team moved in.  They were on time and did great work.  They quickly installed the backsplash and treated/prepped all the surfaces to be painted.  I was very impressed with how much they did in such short order.  From start to finish, they were done in 2 weeks -- with a 4 day hiatus while my floor guys game in.   There were two things I really liked:  1) Alex was super responsive and always reachable. And he proactively gave me daily updates on the progress. 2) He gave me good counsel and reccomendations.  For example, the glass tile backsplash I selected was beautiful -- especially once it was installed -- and Alex recommended using some of the extra as a detail around my fireplace.  It is stunning! I can't recommend Alex/Extreme Co enough.  Top notch work and service from a top notch guy.
