It started well. Mary was nice to work with and I set up an appointment to get a quote. I received a text to confirm the scheduled time and called the office to make sure I had the correct time because it was a 3 hour window 11-2. I waited around until 3pm and no one showed up. At 4:45 I got a call they were on the way at which point I no longer was interested. All they had to do was to call and say they were running behind schedule but instead they showed me they didn't value anyone else's time but their own. That is a red flag for me so I'm glad I never even had the project commence. I would give them an F but Mary was the only saving grace but even she didn't call....

Excellent service. Installation was flawless. Also we had another fireplace unit in another room that was inoperable. When John did our installation of the new fireplace he checked out our broken fireplace. He diagnosed the problem and fixed it on the spot. These guys are the BEST!

Derek came on two occasions and was very helpful and professional. It looks like installing a new fireplace won't work, and he advised that the leak is likely not due to our existing fireplace, so he got nothing out of this. That shows his honesty and professionalism.

Wide selection of materials at store, no sales pressure. Sales agent came to home to measure for custom screen. Screen installer was very competent and professional, and result exceeded all expectations. Plumber for gas conversion and hook-up was an additional $1,000 - more than I expected, but well done by an unaffiliated plumber. I could not be more pleased with the final result!

All aspects of the job went as well as it possibly could. The carpenter patched the roof so one couldn’t even tell a chimney had ever been there. The large metal chimney was removed without incident. The gas fireplace insert needed to be cut out so as to preserve the brick encasing the fireplace and the wood mantel. Jim then expertly installed the electric fireplace, doing a beautiful job both solidly securing the new fireplace and making sure the presentation of the fireplace was perfect! It was a pleasure to see someone take meticulous care throughout the entire job, which included thoroughly cleaning up afterwards.

Rich Cross and his crew were a pleasure to work with. We had a big project on our hands renovating a hundred year old home. We are so happy with the finished product and look forward to Rich doing a kitchen renovation in the future!

ADeLuca Masonry Construction, LLC.
Greg and the rest of the crew from DeLuca masonry were excellent from start to finish. He kept in good contact and was extremely professional. They were punctual and were careful to drape everything off and clean up when done. Their work was impeccable and we were thrilled with the finished product. It came out even better than we could have imagined! They really take pride in their work. Greg was also pro-active about communicating with the electrician, gas-fitter and fireplace vendor so the gas insert went in after the stone work with ease. He was also accommodating when we needed to change the size of the firebox. The work was done in a very timely fashion for a fair price. We will definitely use them again in the future. Highly recommended.

DMaster Chimney Sweepers
I was installing a gas fireplace insert and called for help simply installing the new chimney cap and 3" diameter flexible flue liner. Bill Newman insisted that $1,700 was their minimum labor to come out to the house. He also wanted to charge $3,000 for the materials for a stainless steel liner that was the wrong diameter (6"). Granted that stainless steel is sturdier than aluminum, but I paid only $75 for the aluminum liners. He also repeatedly said they would not be available until 3 months from now. I conclude that either this is their busy season and therefore they'll take as much money as they can demand, or that they were annoyed that I had bought the insert from a retail store. They were polite, but I question the professionalism of inflated quotes. They did return my initial call promptly, although they had messed up the paperwork and called me back for a chimney cleaning, not a chimney cap installation.

AMA Design & Construction Co
Marc and his crew were professional and speedy, and did all of the above described remodeling tasks at my garden-level studio in just over 3 weeks ( Jan 5 through Feb 1), 2 weeks of which I was out of the country. Marc was responsive and good with updating me even while I was abroad. We increased the scope of the work during the remodel (due to encountering some extra pipes during demolition), and also Marc convinced me (rightly so) that this was a good time to upgrade the fireplace as well. I am glad we went ahead with the fireplace remodel, because Marc did an excellent job and it has become a beautiful feature of the studio. He and his gang really transformed the place in a good way. Marc obviously prides himself in quality work - and there are details like wall and shelf trims that I could trust him to make beautiful. Even after the finish of the project, Marc has been responsive and following up with me with some aspects (e.g. fixing a vintage exhaust fan in the bathroom). I highly recommend Marc and his group for any comprehensive remodeling work!

Business Description: My name is David Aviksis and I am the owner of Mr Fix It Plumbing. I am a licensed Master Plumber and have been plumbing for over 25 years.
I started working for my dad who is the founder of Mr Fix It Plumbing. While I was in school I worked with my dad during the summer and every school vacation. We worked together side by side and he taught me all there is to know about Plumbing. From working with him I learned honesty and communiction are just as important as fixing a leak.
I pride myself in running Mr Fix It Plumbing in the most honest and professional way possible. I truly believe this is what makes me different than most other plumbers.
Please call me and lets get your plumbing project started!
Recent Review: On two separate occasions, Jim and American Made Masonry built a stone fireplace and hearth, and later a patio for our backyard. He and his team produce great results, they use high quality components and the latest techniques to ensure their work not only looks great but will last. I highly recommend them for all of your masonry related projects.
Recent Review: Reggie and King&Sons get our top marks. Reggie was very quick to respond to our initial inquiry, and had a bid turned around in no time. The price was very reasonable, as was the process of scheduling the work. This job became more complicated than expected after demolition revealed some unknown factors buried in the 150 year old brick. Reggie handled these changes in stride, making sure that the new fireplace was built SAFELY, with the best materials, and still to our original specification. Although this caused the project to take longer than expected, Reggie stuck to his original estimate, and did not charge any extra. During the whole process, which took a few days, Reggie was excellent at communicating what he was doing, asking for my input when there were choices to be made, and generally keeping me apprised of progress. Reggie tented the work area so that our house was not dirty from the work, and did a MAJOR cleanup after the work was done--he cleaned the worksite, the floors around the worksite, and even vacuumed the carpet in the common hallway of the building. Reggie was also just a great workman to have around. He was friendly, conversational, professional. I'll be calling Reggie the next time we need Masonry work done at the house.
Recent Review: We were very pleased with the final product. They really knew their trade. Everything went very well. They were able to complete the project, on and off, in about 5 days. They were very polite. They were quite the conversationalists. We did shop around for price, and no one company was that much better than the next.

Recent Review: The Horizon installation team showed up at 9:30 as planned, and did a fantastic job of installing my new fireplace insert. They were friendly, knowledgeable, considerate, were able and willing to answer my questions -- that's in addition to obviously knowing exactly what they were doing. Very professional with no attitude. The office support staff was also very pleasant and helpful. The only thing I didn't anticipate was having to obtain the contractor's signature on several forms in order to obtain the building permit. This involved mailing Derek the forms and having him mail them back seeing how his business is in Franklin and I live in Waltham. No biggie.
Recent Review: This is a competent person with integrity who is now working with his competent son. In addition to the above mentioned conversion of a Victorian fireplace with inadequate venting to an perfect working fireplace, Louis has solved two wildlife intrusions of raccoons and squirrels that no one else was able to spot and/or correct. I referred Louis to a friend whose fireplace had started to smoke in the fall following a cleaning the previous spring. My friend got an estimate of over $10,000.00 to repair the fireplace and asked me for advice. I recommended Louis who examined the fireplace and found that a chimney sweep's broom was lodged in the chimney and that no repairs - other than the removal of the broom - were needed. Louis has an answering machine, responds to messages within a day or two, schedules appointments, and arrives at the appointed time.
