Recent Review: My husband marked the area for the dog door incorrectly. He failed to account for a height difference. These guys built a nice, very sturdy step/platform for our dogs to use on the deck so they could still get out. Okay r error, but they went above and beyond in making sure it worked out. The other handyman stuff- patching some plaster, etc also went well, but the dog door issue was the big thing.

Mr. Handyman of Central Middlesex
Recent Review: They are very punctual and competent. Also, very accommodating. We were unsure if the A/C would arrive on time, but they came anyway and started on the dog door until the unit arrived. They always clean up after themselves and leave the space as they found it, or cleaner. It was raining and the handyman was going to put booties over his shoes before entering my home, but I told him it was unnecessary. He did a very good job. It took a little bit longer than we had planned, but I believe that was my husband's estimate, not theirs.

Fairly well ... the time he took to cutt a hole for the dog door took and a basement window was long because it was somewhat difficult. He did a good job; he showed me how to finish the caulking on the basement window because it was the end of the eight hours.

DJoe The Handyman
Joe did odd jobs for me for over a year and I was generally happy with his service, except that he didn't track hours/expenses and would every half year or so send a large non-itemized bill, so beware of that. My biggest complaint is that he disappeared after promising to fix a botched deck painting job. The color he selected was far too light -- not at all what we'd discussed -- and started looking perennially dirty almost right away. He also failed to prime the nailheads as discussed so rust starting showing through too soon after. He assured me he'd use a durable "cement paint", but the stairs peeled within a few months. I haven't been able to get a return call for more than a year now, and now I have to pay someone else to fix it. I can not recommend him.

CRoom For Improvement
Patrick and his assistant showed up on time and did install the two doors, however half way through the job we noticed that he was planning to install raw wood trim around the doors, which would have been very unattractive considering the location. They were also not flush to the walls as we had discussed. We mentioned this to him and he was initially very resistant to changing the design even though we were clearly unhappy with how the finished product was going to look in our home. He did however agree to add trim work at no added expense and the finished product does look nice. One of the doors was an electronic door, and I don't think Patrick read the directions because the electric feature of the door doesn't work because the channel wasn't installed the way it is specified. We have to tape the lock down for our pet to go in and out. Also, all sawing and drilling work was done on our finished enclosed porch and though he vacuumed before leaving it was still a dusty mess.

DLet Bud Do It
Bud was good at communicating and he arrived on time. Bud did a good job removing a "dog door," and patching/repairing both the interior and exterior walls.  He also added shingles to the exterior.  The interior wall surface was a bit unfinished with some rough plaster patches, which we've smoothed out before painting.  Overall, we are relatively satisfied with the quality of this work. We also asked Bud to install shelves, on separate walls in our home.  This is by no means a unique job or one requiring specialized skills.  Unfortunately, this work did not go well.  Our house is somewhat old (1930s) and as such the interior walls are not perfectly flat in areas.  Further, the walls are not sheetrock with studs, but rather are "old school" plaster.  These issues apparently were frustrating and difficult for Bud to overcome, and the quality of the work suffered greatly as a result.  The shelves are not flush against the walls and they are even not fully attached.  Each shelf has three holes, which are supposed to slide over 3 screws protruding from the wall.  However, only 2 are actually attached, the third lining up improperly.  The end result is that the shelves are unstable and crooked, and they've fallen off the walls several times.    In addition, the work was quite messy, with the walls being chipped and marked by various attempts to attach the shelves, and some of the shelves themselves were chipped and scratched (this before they'd fallen off the wall) and/or splattered with paint/plaster -- they're in a sorry state.   In short, the quality of work relating to the shelves was definitely subpar, and we're now left with an unfortunate mess that we will need to hire another worker to repair.  Frankly, we were surprised by Bud's response to our questioning the level of work - he replied that we shouldn't have bought the shelves in the first place but anyway he personally would be satisfied with the quality of work.  I suppose we have different standards.   I'm sorry this didn't work out.
