Bud was good at communicating and he arrived on time. Bud did a good job removing a "dog door," and patching/repairing both the interior and exterior walls. He also added shingles to the exterior. The interior wall surface was a bit unfinished with some rough plaster patches, which we've smoothed out before painting. Overall, we are relatively satisfied with the quality of this work. We also asked Bud to install shelves, on separate walls in our home. This is by no means a unique job or one requiring specialized skills. Unfortunately, this work did not go well. Our house is somewhat old (1930s) and as such the interior walls are not perfectly flat in areas. Further, the walls are not sheetrock with studs, but rather are "old school" plaster. These issues apparently were frustrating and difficult for Bud to overcome, and the quality of the work suffered greatly as a result. The shelves are not flush against the walls and they are even not fully attached. Each shelf has three holes, which are supposed to slide over 3 screws protruding from the wall. However, only 2 are actually attached, the third lining up improperly. The end result is that the shelves are unstable and crooked, and they've fallen off the walls several times. In addition, the work was quite messy, with the walls being chipped and marked by various attempts to attach the shelves, and some of the shelves themselves were chipped and scratched (this before they'd fallen off the wall) and/or splattered with paint/plaster -- they're in a sorry state. In short, the quality of work relating to the shelves was definitely subpar, and we're now left with an unfortunate mess that we will need to hire another worker to repair. Frankly, we were surprised by Bud's response to our questioning the level of work - he replied that we shouldn't have bought the shelves in the first place but anyway he personally would be satisfied with the quality of work. I suppose we have different standards. I'm sorry this didn't work out.
