Recent Review: This dock project was set up in the fall of 2008 to be executed in the spring of May 2009. Howard worked with our family to set a date to install the new dock as soon as the ice was gone from the lake. He and a helper arrived the first day to take out the old dock. They didn't have all the tools they needed and they ran out of the acetylene they needed to complete the job. Even though they had come to see the old dock in the fall to know what the scope of the job would be they still didn't plan for it correctly. Once they ran out of the acetylene the helper was ready to call it quits for the day (mid afternoon). Knowing this would put us into another day, my dad called around and got another tank of it, went and got it so they could finish their job. Throughout this the helper was not helpful. We also looked at what they brought and they had brought the wrong bottoms for our dock (wheels instead of flat bases) and we asked them to exchange them for the correct bottoms. It is unclear how this mistake happened but we think it was written on the oder form incorrectly and no one caught it including us until the actual installation date. Day 2 Howard brought a new helper, who was much more useful and the dock installation went smoothly. Howard was very willing to show us how to put it together and was very easy to work with. The day ended with us having a new dock. The dock has been solid and we have had no problems with it since it was installed. We have ordered some more things from them since and have been satisfied with their service.

Recent Review: These guys are the best!! From the first meeting with Steve thru the design phase with Mike I felt confident I had picked the right company for the job. Any questions I had before the job started were quickly answered. Great communication from beginning to end. The crews were very professional and built a dock that exceeded my expectations. I am happy to recommend Hickcox Brothers Marine.

Recent Review: Sunrise showed up on time and made quick work of it.  Their employees were professional and courteous.  I docked them a bit on professionalism because, for some reason, they ran their bobcat over my neighbors yard causing some deep ruts. I did not find this out until after they left.        I have used them several times in the past to prune my trees and clean up after some storms.  I find their prices to be competitive an the work has always been completed to my satisfaction.        I will use them again in the future.

Recent Review: Jeremy Nicolet's work for me really deserves an A+ in every respect. I would certainly hire him again and recommend him to anybody. Jeremy was quick to respond to my request for an estimate and arrived promptly at the scheduled time. Although the work is a somewhat unusual job (dock repair), he was quick to grasp the issues and how best to deal with them. His estimate was accurate and reasonable. He was good about following up on a few issues, such as providing an insurance certificate, between the date of the estmate and the date of the work. This job is time critical, because it can only be done easily in a narrow window of time after the water level of the lake has been lowered in the fall and before winter weather closes in. Over 10 years, I have repeatedly had problems getting contractors to show up when scheduled and have several times lost the window as a result. Jeremy understood the time sensitivity and fit me into his schedule on less than a week's notice. On the day of the work, Jeremy arrived 10 minutes early and with all the tools and help we had agreed. He promptly got to work and was very skilled, hard working and efficient throughout the job. We had estimated the time required at at 4-6 hours and agreed on a 4 hour minimum. He finished the job quite nicely in 3.25 hours, not including clean up, and we used the extra time up to the minimum to repair a wooden fence gate. He did a good job cleaning up at the end of the job. I am extremely impressed by Jeremy's professionalism and the quality of his work. It was a pleasure to work with him.

AHickcox Brothers Marine Inc
The overall experience far exceeded our expectations. The job started and finished on schedule. The workers were professional, productive, experienced and neat. The jobsite was left immaculate at the end of each day. The quality of the work was not only impressive, there were extras in the design of dock that we just don't see on other docks around us. The Hickcox quote was the lower of the 2 quotes we received, yet their price included extras, such as the larger boat lift (10,000# vs. 8500#) and 10" diameter pilings instead of 8". We did upgrade to the thicker composite boards, which added $900 to the original quote, but the overall price was still $4500 cheaper than the competor's proposal. Any other added item, such as an extra piling, was simply included in the cost of the job. Hickcox Brothers is a family owned operation and this company takes great pride in the work that they do. Hickcox was initially recommended to us by a neighbor. We couldn't be more pleased with the job that they did for us and we highly recommend this company.

AESP Painting Inc
Edson, the owner of ESP Painting, showed up early to give us a quote and was able to give us a very accurate estimate approximately five minutes after he'd left, sitting his truck outside the unit. : )  I needed to amend our original schedule and he was extremely accommodating. The painter moved very quickly and did an excellent job. They used top quality paints, the area was clean when I returned, and there was no confusion re paint colors. I wholeheartedly recommend ESP for painting jobs. However, I asked them to also remove the old plastic baseboards and replace them with new ones. ESP contracted out the replacement job to someone who a). called me but did not leave his name or contact information, leaving me hanging when I needed to reschedule; b). installed the baseboards but did not paint them per our spoken agreement; c). managed to break the toilet in the unit (the water was running, and he managed to break the shutoff valve); d). only agreed to paint the baseboards after I pitched a minor fit to Edson (who was very responsive); and e). started texting me for payment A DAY AFTER THE JOB WAS FINISHED.  Net 30, anyone?  Give me some time to put it in the mail, anyone?  Did not dock his compensation for the $200 I had to pay a handyman to repair the toilet, either. So I recommend that you use ESP for paint jobs, but find your own carpenter.
