ACADIA WINDOWS & DOORS
Recent Review: We had a good experience with Acadia. We were looking for a very expensive, secure double patio door, and Acadia's salesperson, Rick Z, gave us a lot of information about products and options that would meet our needs. He gave us a reasonable quote (much higher than what one would pay at Home Depot, of course, because it was a much higher quality product). We got a couple of other estimates for the same work, and the prices were pretty similar. We felt comfortable with Rick and went with Acadia. The doors were delivered on time and the installation contractors were very professional and neat. After the doors had been installed for a few weeks, a problem developed with the lock and Rick ordered us a new one and installed it.

All About Doors Inc
Recent Review: The salesrep came to our house with sample product and colors in his vehicle. He was prompt, professional and really knew his product. He did not do any type of hard sell or try to talk us into a higher-priced door or into options that we didn't need or want. Once we chose a door, he gave recommendations on how to fix up the trim around the garage and even pointed out that we needed to apply rustoleum to the metal above the garage doors (that holds the brick up) so we did not void the warranty on the door. The doors were ordered and delivery date was estimated. The doors arrived on time and were installed quickly and at our convenience. The installation crew was quick and efficient. They took time to explain use of the new system to my husband and showed him how to change passwords and such. This was such a great experience that I know we will definitely recommend this company to friends and family!

Reviews in Baltimore to Install Peephole

AOur Handyman
I called Jimmy Taylor to do the door installation. We set a date for the work to be done. As time passed, it was apparent that the custom door would not be shipped in time. I called Jimmy and he we rescheduled the work. He was very flexible and easy to work with. Jimmy arrived very promptly at 7:45 a.m. He removed the old (1964) storm door and existing door and frame. He installed a new door, the hardware, peep hole and new door bell. He caulked around the door inside and out, and cleaned up. Upon unwrapping our new custom door, Jimmy discovered that the factory had screwed the new sill onto the door 1-1/2 inches out of allignment. Jimmy was able to fix the problem. By the time Jimmy finished the job the door fit perfectly. Jimmy is very knowledgeable, has a great sense of humor and was a pleasure to work with.

I called Bruce and he was able to come by the same day and look at my door.  Within a week, I had my doors installed.  They came on Saturday, since I work during the week. Bruce was not only willing to work around my work schedule, he also picked up the doors from Home Depot for me.  The men who did the installation were polite, professional, clean, and obviously took a great deal of pride in their work.  I could not be happier.  If you want first class work from a first class company, then I highly recommend Hunny Do.

BAir Tite Windows & Doors
I felt like it took a long time for it to come in. We were in a situation where we had a wood door and we had a break in and we had to get it replaced quickly. The owner was in touch to let us know, but he kept kind of saying, "Oh, it's just going to be a couple more days," and he did that a couple of times. It was a little bit upsetting that our door was kind of compromised for so long. I changed the order. We wanted to have a peep knocker in and then when the door came, it wasn't there. The installer was like, "Oh, I'll call the owner and we'll get this fixed." Then, it never got followed through on. By that point, the painters were here and we were having it painted. So, I didn't want to have to deal with getting a new door. It was a small enough thing. It had a peephole. But I wanted a peephole with a knocker. So, all it was missing was really the knocker. It wasn't a deal-breaker. We just dealt with it and moved on. The price was fine because our insurance covered it.

AEagle Locksmith & Garage Door Repair Services
I called on a Thursday and spoke to someone in their office. I explained what I needed in detail and the woman on the phone took all of my information. Later that day, a technician called to get more information from me. He also requested that I send him some pictures of the doors so that he could see what work needed to be done. I was able to send him the pics over text message which was very convenient. He then sent me a generalized quote and said the final price would depend on his ability to repair some of the locks vs having to replace them.  He also asked how I heard about their company and when I told him it was through Angie's List he called his office to see if there was a coupon or discount available for me. He got back in touch with me to say that there was a coupon that would save me $100! He said he could come the next day to perform the work but I was not available, so we scheduled an appointment for Monday. He was right on time and even called an hour ahead to let me know he was on the way. The technician's name was Chico and he was very friendly and professional. He made sure to explain everything to me before he completed any work and he made sure I checked all of his work for my satisfaction before he left.  The total price ended up being a little more than his initial quote, but that was because the original lock on our front door had been improperly installed which meant we had to replace the lock and handle instead of just the lock. He had to leave during the work to purchase a new lock and handle for the front door and he made sure to pick one out that matched our existing door perfectly. He also purchased a system for us that allows us to re-key the lock on our own at any time and he went over all of the instructions so that I would know how to use the system. When he was finished his work, he sat down to go over all of the numbers with me. He asked if I had printed out the coupon on Angie's List but I told him that when I went to the site, there was no coupon or discount available.  He then gave me the discount anyway to make sure that I was completely satisfied with the service and the price! All in all, I had a terrific experience with Chico and Eagle Locksmith as a whole. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs work down and I will certainly call them again in the future.  P.S. He also let me know that there was a 30 day warranty on all of the work and if I had any difficulty at all I should call him to come back out free of charge.

ARAUSCH HOME IMPROVEMENT
We love Bernie Rausch so much, we had him do 2 jobs for us!  The first job was completed in January 2010, and cost ~$2,400.  This included two glass block windows (one with a vent), a replacement pane of glass for our bathroom window, a standard steel door (for our basement), a custom made steel front door, and a custom made storm door for the front.  I got quotes from other big chains that were just $2,400 for the front door and front storm door alone, and Baltimore Block wanted to charge twice what Bernie charged for the two block windows.  Bernie and his team were always punctual, and Bernie was very up front about everything he did.  Before he even greeted us, he informed us that our front door would be a custom order!  He really knows his stuff.  He was also up front about the tax credits which we qualified for based on the two steel doors that we purchased, and made sure we had the right paperwork for tax purposes.  The 2nd job was for 2 more block windows and a back door with a storm door, and cost $1,800.  These doors were not energy star certified, mostly because we got a door with a lot of glass in it, and he informed us of that fact, too.  When it comes to payment, he asked for a small deposit upfront, then offered to return to pick up the final payment after the job was completed and we had a chance to look at it.  This was very thoughtful, and convenient for us. Another thing that I greatly admired and appreciated about Bernie is that he wasn't just some guy who came out, took the measurements, and gave the quote, but he also came back (with additional help) to do the job.  I love that he didn't have any sleazy sales people nor did he send someone else a mere set of directions. The reason I gave Bernie a B for responsiveness was not actually for his response rate, but because he was hard to get a hold of.  If you call him and leave a message, he does get back to you in about 1-2 days, which is a decent amount of time. Bernie is a thoughtful guy with great personality, and if we ever consider replacing our windows, we will give him a call.

AFichtner Services Inc
Fichtner Services first sent out someone to look at the job and provide an estimate. The estimate was very competitive with two others that I had received. They then sent a project foreman to take measurements of the rough opening to ensure that I had the correct measurements when ordering the the door system via the door company's website. The door system was built and shipped to Maryland within five months. Since the crate weighed over 1000 lbs, Fichtner Services coordinated the delivery date and time with the trucking company. They arranged to have extra manpower and equipment on location to off-load the crate, unpack the door system, carry it up a seven-step high stoop, and maneuver successfully into place. The entire process, which involved removal of the old entry door system, installation of the new door system and installation of new locks (which I supplied) was completed in one day. Due to the superb coordination efforts and attention to detail provided by Fichtner Service personnel, the operation went quickly and flawlessly. A company technician returned several weeks later to successfully solve a sticking latch problem and install a new door knocker with peephole. Every member of the company that I dealt with, either by phone or in person, was always friendly, professional, and prompt. I first stumbled across this company in 2003 when I needed to have a new furnace exhaust system installed from basement to attic roof of my two-story detached house. They managed to accommodate an 11th hour deadline and did a great job. From my experience, Fichtner Services is a reliable company which consistently provides quality service.

CKC Company Inc - Pella Windows and Doors
It did not go well overall. Here is why: (1) The trim at the bottom of the outside of the door was not initially done because the workers were not clear that it should be included and therefore did not have enough wood or aluminum to do it. (2) The workers did not install the peep hole and that was clearly written in the contract. I am thinking all of this is because the installers were different from the people who actually came out to do the estimates. (3) There were two installers and one of them did not speak English at all. The other spoke some English. I kept wondering if what needed to be done was clearly communicated to the workers? It took a phone call and email to straighten these two areas out but it was finally corrected a few weeks later. (4) A few months later, the handle on the storm door fell off. I tried to correct that on my own but it did not work. I called the office. A technician came out a few weeks later and fixed it. The worker had to install a different type of screw by drilling a hole. This is not acceptable. When you pay close to $3000 for this, the least you can expect is the handles should not be falling off. (5). The storm door started slamming shut but that was corrected with the turn of the screw on the closing mechanism. Again, I would not expect to have to correct this so soon if the door was of good quality. (6) It has taken 4 months for me to feel like I have a finished product given all of the issues. Therefore, I would not want to go with this company in the future. I keep feeling like something else will go wrong soon. I feel I would be better off hiring a contractor through Lowes or another company through this site for installing windows and two new patio doors in the near future. I should not have to keep going back and forth when paying this type of money for work that is not complicated. I want to get things done right the first time since I do not have a lot of time nor money to waste. There are two good things I can say. They arrived to do all the work when they said they would. They were nice/professional about trying to make corrections. At no time did they give me any attitude or get nasty. Therefore, I had to give them an A in these areas.

AUnicorp Home Energy Services
Since purchasing our home in 2011, we have made a number of improvements to it. Not once did we experience the level of customer service that we just did with Unicorp. We had called Unicorp after reading reviews here on Angie's List, and then seeing one of their trucks in our neighborhood. Shortly after speaking with the attentive and friendly receptionist (a human, not a automated system), we received a call back from Brian- the company President. Brian came to our home the next day. Brian was extremely professional and friendly. We felt very comfortable with Brian in our home as he took measurements, and then sat down with us to discuss our multiple options. Unlike other companies we have worked with in the past, there was no scripted "dog and pony show"- just casual conversation about what we liked/wanted, and what was feasible for us in terms of price. Before committing to anything, we wanted to talk it over as a couple and sleep on it. When we told Brian this he told us that it wasn't a problem. We were so relieved that he didn't push us to do anything right then and there. He left us his card, and a catalog to look over. We called Brian back the next day and informed him that we wanted to move forward. We chose the Signet door with two sidelights. We also got a peephole because we never had one before. After all decisions were made, we were contacted by Megan. Megan did such an amazing job with coordinating everything and keeping us informed about the entire process- from production to the day of install. On the day of installation, the team showed up on time. They too were extremely professional. Halfway through the install, Brian came by to check in and make sure we were happy with the progress. When the installation was complete, the team cleaned up and it looked as if they never came- except for our new door that we love. We immediately put up our Halloween wreath and went out and bought mums to show off our new door. A huge thank you to Brian and the rest of the team at Unicorp for making this such a hassle free experience. Siding is next!

It went well. The door was fixed as well as the door knob. The door frame was also touched up with paint.
