Recent Review: Mark was prompt in getting the jobs done and the price was fair. It is such a relief to have a person like Mark who can easily take care of the "so-called" easy jobs that are overwhelming for an average homeowner. I will continue to use Mark as needed. Thank you.

Heavenly Home Improvements
Recent Review: I can't say how happy I am with Shawn's colleague Robert (Bobby) Moyer. Shawn sent Bobby to my home about a month ago to give me an estimate on replacing some old plywood walls between my basement area and the adjoining crawl space. (I believe Shawn himself was already booked up with projects at the time.) The job was delayed because we needed to finish some other work in the basement area before Bobby could begin, but once we were ready he came out within a week. Bobby assessed the job carefully and suggested upgrading from plywood to dense glass drywall for better mold resistance. He listened attentively to my husband and me about what we needed, explained to us exactly what he would do, and, with the help of his uncle, completed the job in just one day. He and his uncle were very polite and professional, and they cleaned the area well once their work was done. I'm so pleased by the job that they did that I've already arranged for them to come out and do another job for me next month.

Recent Review: Tony came over during his lunch time because I was off that day, and fixed a flourescent light in the basement.   This was the second time I used him.  The first time he came out he replaced 2 light fixtures in the crawl space, a flourescent light in the basement, and split my outside lights so that I had 2 on/off switches instead of one.

Recent Review: The appointment for the review and tune-up was very easy to schedule. I appreciated the day-before appointment confirmation. Howard arrived on time and came to introduce himself and then began work. First Howard inspected the attic crawl space (which had no major issues) and then the roof. He gave a detailed description of the state of the 23 year old roof (better than expected, but still in need of replacement) with photos. Howard then did the tune-up work on the roof: caulked and closed a hole. Upon finishing Howard provided more photos of the things he had done. Since he was recommending replacement, he offered to put us in contact with the American Home to schedule an estimate, which we have scheduled. Howard seemed very experienced and knowledgeable.

FMyriad Home Improvement & Handyman Services LLC
I submitted the below review on June 23, 2014 and the provider responded he never did any work for Donna Wirt.  He did work at my home 2304 Russell Avenue, Gwynn Oak, MD 21207 for Carol Resnick and Donna Wirt.  Before responding, the company should search for the address and not a person's name.  I was home the day the work "was completed".  It is still incomplete as of today, June 28, 2014.  The owner is trying to make me look like a liar and a cheat and I am no such thing.  If I could attach pictures of the doors I would.  Here is Myriad Home Improvement & HandyMan Services, LLC: Company Response: To any reading members, We do not have any record of completing work for Donna Wirt. Therefore we are unable to provide any dialogue. Angies please research this review. Lloyd ORIGINAL REVIEW: The company told us what supplies to purchase: size of doors, wood for framing, molding, hinges.  The company provided the screws.  The cost was to be $269.00.  The installer was punctual and polite.  The first day he said we needed to get different doors because what we had was too heavy and unnecessary.  He cutout the portion of the walls where the doors were to be installed.  For the first door, he  attached a 2x2 strip of wood to an existing floor-length piece of wood so he would have something to attach the hinges to but the wood didn't go all the way to the floor so it was not sturdy.  He used screws to attach the molding!  He should have used finishing nails. He had to come back another day because he was incompetent for this job AND we had to pay $295.00 for the additional day. The second day he came (a week later at our request) he spent a great deal of the time contemplating what to do.  I was there and witnessed this.  At one point he said "I got it!  Now I know how to do this".  I asked him if he thought he might not be able to complete the work.  He assured me we would be happy with everything when he was done and it would be a professional job.  He didn't know what he was doing.  Neither door was professionally done and neither is acceptable.  He ran out of molding and that is unfinished even today.  He ruined one of the doors he told us to buy so that cannot be returned.  We had him redo one of the doors and it didn't make any difference.  He left and has never come back.   We complained to the owner of the company and he make all kinds of excuses and never offered any compensation.  We told him we would put this experience on Facebook and file a report with the BBB and he said "Go ahead.  I'll submit a response".

FKargmans Inc
Hiring Kargmans Inc. was one of the biggest mistakes of my life. Not only did they do in my opinion inferior work, but I believe they have questionable business and ethical practices. It took the company four months to complete a job that should have been completed in two weeks. I had to continually complain about the workers and the quality of their work. I had to complain to the company because of destruction of my property, intoxication on the job, and invasion of my privacy. I caught one worker rummaging through my stored belongings. Another worker used my smooth top electric range as a work bench. I purchased materials from Kargmans and most of the prices were greatly inflated. I did not find out about their price gouging until the end of the project because they would only give me a proposal sheet and not an itemized bill or invoice. I requested felt as the hardwood flooring underlay and the workers put down paper. The labor fee for the hardwood flooring was more than twice the cost of the flooring itself even though most of the furniture was removed from my first floor before the workers started the job. The 790 square feet area in which they laid the flooring was only the first level of my house which consisted of five rooms and a straight hallway that lead from the front door to the kitchen. The workers did not follow the manufactures installation guide for the installation of two assembled patio doors, so as a result they had to try and rectify what was done incorrectly which caused even further delay. The workers did not know how to put the locks on the door and a technician from the door manufacture had to fix the locks properly. Insulation which should have been applied during the doors’ installation process was spray between the cracks after the doors had been installed and stained. The molding had to be removed for the spray foam insulation to be applied.  I took pictures and had security video cameras that the workers appeared to be unaware of during the time the work was being done at my house.  My evidence of inferior work was the only way that the company was compelled to redo much of the work that they were hired to do. I was unaware of how inflated their prices were until the end of the project when I was finally given the invoices and downloaded warranties. The holding of the invoices, I truly believe was intentional because of their (in my estimation) unethical practices. The invoices, manufactures’ warranties, and installation guides were request by me when the flooring and doors were purchased and the company did not comply with my request. I asked for this information for a total of seven times five of which were in writing. I had to find the installation guides, warranties, and care and maintenance information on line during the four months it took to complete which should have been two weeks, at the most three weeks of work at my house. I do not recommend Kargmans because I feel that I was scammed.

DHandyman At Your Command
We contacted Handyman At Your Command about some work that we wanted done in the crawl space that runs under the back portion of our house.  We were initially contacted by someone who simply asked for where our home was located to which we replied that our home was located in Dundalk.  We then received a reply from another representative of this company that replied that they did not service our area despite the fact that the information on Angie's List indicates that they service the "Entire Area" and that there were four reviews posted by other Angie's List members who used their services within 5 miles of our home.  It would seem that this company should ask that there information on Angie's List be updated to appropriately match the areas that they are willing to service.

AWilliam Brian Ratliff Services
Brian and his crew performed all of the work in a very professional manner and successfully brought the project to a successful conclusion in a timely manner at a reasonable cost, overcoming in the process numerous obstacles and challenges. Not only did Brian produce a completely professional quality product, but he contributed to the re-modeling design itself, continuously making excellent suggestions. His creativity led to solutions to numerous problems (for example the bathroom not being square, excessive humidity in crawl space, inefficient utilization of space, etc) that has made the house both visually attractive inside as well as optimally functional. Moreover, he ensured that the repairs were done to code, making several difficult changes just to pass inspections (such as channeling ventilation pipes, water heater accessibility, plumbing design in tight spaces, electrical wiring, etc). The bathrooms in particular turned out to be works of art, making the best use of limited space. As someone who was trying to renovate the house for investment purposes, I value highly the talents of Brian and would certainly like to make use of his services in the future.
