A Frame Home Repair
Recent Review: I was replacing a recycled-air range hood with an external exhaust range hood. I contacted Bill and asked if this is something that he could do because I didn't feel comfortable cutting a hole in my roof and installing the duct work. He said that he had installed many of them. Bill is a nice guy and did go out of his way to pick up the duct work from a local store for me, but I think that he was in over his head with this type of installation. He did not get the right size vent-adapter which resulted in the exhaust air escaping into the cabinet over the stove. I have since purchased the right-sized adapter for the vent and installed it myself. Everything now works like a charm. I'm sure that Bill does a good job with framing and other such jobs, but I would not feel comfortable hiring him to do this type of job again.

Recent Review: We need to install a range hood to replace our old over-the-range microwave oven. I initially contacted 4 handymen and Mr. David Wise was the one who promptly called back and discussed all details with me. After several rounds of back and forth emails discussing the schedule and installation procedures, Mr. Wise was able to very effectively show me the layout of installation and made a schedule at his earliest convenience. On the day of work, despite the fact Lee who was dispatched by Mr. Wise showed up late (we were agreed on 9am-10am but Lee showed up at 1:30pm), he did an excellent job on the installation, every piece of duct was connected with screws and then wrapped with metal tapes. Lee was also very into details, he inspected all the connections to make sure no air leakage. Eventually after more than 6 hours of work, Lee finished the job and he cleaned and vacuumed the entire working area (very professional). The only complaints I have are the price and punctuality. I was quoted for just over $600 and was also told that we could save 1 hr of labor by removing the old microwave oven ourselves (which we actually did trying to save some money). But it turned out to be over $800 on the final bill. At the end of the day, we settled the dispute and agreed on $680. My suggestions to people who are looking for handymen: If you are looking for quality work and not so tight on the budget, then Mini Jobs is your No1 choice. I think that Mini Jobs as a growing company, their overhead becomes very high; And those overhead and all the other costs associated with running the company will pass down to us, the customers. That is why you will see Lee, or "Matt", or some other guy at work, but never David Wise himself.

Recent Review: Glen Flowers was our handyman and general contractor. The tile, electrical, and silestone work was subcontracted out, all to very competent businesses. The rest of the work Glen did by himself (amazingly enough). Glen was very easy to work with and had several excellent suggestions and ideas. For example: Putting down tile raises the floors by 1", so the counters need to rise by 1" too. We have maple cabinets which were not being replaced, which leaves a 1" gap. Glen saw that our old counters (laminate) had a maple edge of about 1". So when the old counters were removed, he saved the edges to all the counters. The top edges of the cabinets were built up to hold the weight of the silestone, then covered by the recycled edges. It looks great, and avoided the problems of matching old finish to new. Glen did great work. David LeCourt, who sold us the job visited regularly to make sure things went right. Highly recommended.

He also replaced a range hood, and installed a lighting fixture with a new switch. All this was done in approximately a four or five hour period. His work was professional, quick, clean and complete.

slow, incomplete, and poor quality work; company insisted I should've purchased more tile--despite that the workman measured the area and the amount of tile and said it would work fine but then ran out of tile because he started in the wrong place; company adjusted overall bill, which I paid, but not happily--all of it was too little too late; don't recommend using company, which bills by the hour, because the workman tries his doggone best to stretch out the work by forgetting things and making repeated trips to the truck to get what he needs; scheduler and workmen don't appropriately communicate, and thank goodness what I had done was quite small (for which I overpaid), otherwise it could've been a total nightmare.

ABIG RON'S HANDYMAN SERVICES
I called Ron one evening and left a message, and he called back the next morning. He was polite, punctual in every phase of the job. He was able to schedule me in on my pick of days at a convenient time, and came prepared to do everything that needed to be done. He was thorough and methodical, and very careful. He cared about the little things for example, having smoke detectors installed right side up, if that was important to us for aesthetic reasons, cleaned up afterwards, and did not try to "sell" us on other tasks that "needed" to be done as other handymen do. He just does good work and counts on you calling him back again. He explained everything he was doing, and it was clear he enjoyed his work and enjoyed helping people. It was like having a friend come over and help you out. He worked with us on the price, and when he could not repair the existing socket part, he went and bought a new one, only charging us extra for the actual charge of the replacement part.

AHandyman Matters NE Metro Atlanta
After having granite counter tops installed, we needed numerous things done in our kitchen - range hood installed, light fixtures changed and, most importantly, tile back splash installed.  Handyman Matters responded the first day.  They came within 2 days to measure and write up a quote, which I received the next day.  They provided the services a week later.  It took them 1.5 days, and they did an outstanding job!  I will definitely call them, in the future, when I need work done.
