Recent Review: Living in GA - I found out in late February, my mother's house in NC - the pipe in the back bathroom under the sink had sprung a large leak and continued for nearly two weeks.  Aside from the enormous water bill, I had to call Service Master to come in and clean everything up which included tearing out all the wood flooring, bathroom tile, some of the sheet rock and the bottom wood trim.  Now for the rebuild - after obtaining estimates around the $8000 to $15,000 range which was way out of my budget - my last hope was Handy Home Helpers.  I contacted John through Angie's List, asked him if he could go to the house, work up and estimate and can we not exceed $6000.  At first, his estimate was about $2000 more than my budget but he did some finagling and worked up a deal exactly in my budget.  John and his crew showed up on time and worked for about 8 days (we agreed this was not a rush job!) and the end result was nothing short of miraculous.  The new laminate flooring and bathroom tile is beautiful.  He installed a new vanity/sink, set the toilet, did all the sheet rock/mud work, paint and trimmed everything out - it's outstanding!   He kept me in the loop with all the work and progress - sent pictures as well so I was informed the whole time. I am giving John Kent and his company extremely high praise for a job well done and would recommend to anyone needing any type of construction/remodeling project done.  When time comes to remodel my house, I will gladly pay for him and his crew to travel to GA and do the work.

We are happy with him. He was very pleasant and friendly, and he was very helpful in helping us decide what to get. His son was kind of inexperienced and he had some quality problems. In the interior paintwork he was not very clean and neat. Okler brought in a plumber, he served as a subcontract and that we were not happy with.

DRICE FURNITURE CO
Rice sales people did not appear to have adequate knowledge of how to remove existing flooring. Their recommendation was to leave the old under layments in place and install new. This would have raised the kitchen flooring to a level higher that the adjoining foyer and required removal and trimming of 2 pocket doors. I had to remove a section of existing flooring myself to demonstrate how to do job. Linoleum arrived with a defect in some tiles. Rice said that lines were part of pattern and would not replace. Subcontractor installer had no supervision or inspection by Rice personnel during or after installation. Numerous problems occurred during removal of existing flooring and installation of new - new flooring too high under pocket door. I had to remove pocket door and reinstall to get to work. Installer broke pull handle on pocket door trying to force it to move. - installer nicked kitchen cabinets while removing existing flooring - installer dragged dryer across newly installed flooring, scratching flooring, requiring multiple tiles be replaced - Installer did not clean up after completing his work each day, leaving a mess for me to remove daily Eventually we reached the point where we just wanted to get the job done and over. There appears to be a philosophy in Brevard that the quality of workmanship only has to be and quot;good enoughand quot; and Rice Furniture is an example of that.
