    A Backyard Farm LLC
    I have been using A Backyard Farm for about 4 years now.  Despite the vagaries of weather they are both dependable and flexible.  I love getting my vegetable wish list in late winter and setting up my weekly day for my farmer to come and teach, harvest, plant, attend.  Given that it is an organic,, raised-bed micro garden, no weeding is required.  I get reasonable yields from such a small space and my family eats more vegetables now.  Urban micro-farming is truly transformational for our planet, communities and health.  This is a fabulous group to work with.  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

    Jerry's Home & Garden Center
    I contacted Jay and asked that he come give us an estimate for topping our mulch and over seeding our lawn/patching bare areas.
    He was very professional on the phone and accommodating.  He did show up as promised and provided us with an estimate.
    His estimate was completely out of the range of even being reasonable.  We got bids from three other landscapers and for the mulch, they all came in between $50 and $60 per yard which is what we expected.  Jay's bid was at $130/yard PLUS $340 for delivery.
    I contacted him to ask if this was a typo!  He said that his cost for the mulch is $65/yard, highly unlikely? we called around and most nurseries have a cost of $25-$30 tops for contractors.  
    We were really disappointed with Jerry's Home & Garden!  We ended up going with another reputable landscaper who charged us $53/yard.   F for price and D for professionalism since it's clear he was not being honest with us.

    Mickman Brothers Inc
    Everything went very well.  I had spent all summer trying to contact landscapers and waiting for replies that never came and finally, and fortunately, found Mickman Brothers.  I dealt with Paul, who kept me updated on everything, even if he was going to be a few minutes late for an appointment.  Our initial consultation was low key and he understood exactly what I was looking for and, importantly, what I was not looking for on this project at this time.  I made one tree-choice change.  The work was done, with just a 2-day delay, in a half day.  The crew was very hard-working and courteous, and they did a great job cleaning up.
    I have already told Paul I'll be contacting him in the spring of 2015 for Phase 2 of our project.

    On May 5th, we placed an order for a designed flower garden on line from Spring Hill.  The flowers were supposed to arrive by May 13th.  When the flowers did not arrive, I made two phone calls to customer service.   
    The first time, we were told that the flowers would arrive by May 28th.  When the flowers did not arrive by the 29th, I placed another call to Customer Service and was told that there was a shortage of one of the items (we were not told this the first time) and that the new delivery date would be 06/05/14 - 06/10/14.  
    Customer service is located in India.  I could barely understand the operator and asked to be transferred to a representative in the U.S.  I asked if it would be possible to substitute the missing item with a comparable plant.  The customer service rep said she would check to see if this would be possible and that she would call back.  We had a voice mail message this evening from the representative and we were told that "it would be in our best interests to cancel the order" since a substitution would not be allowed.  Well, this solution would NOT be in our best interests, since we do not have TIME to go shop for plants until next month.  We had our garden tilled over a month ago in preparation for these plants and now we have nothing to plant --- and our money is tied up with this company.   At this point, the garden will have to be re-tilled and we don't have time to shop for anything else.  
    Considering that this is our first purchase with Spring Hill, I am really surprised that Customer Service was unwilling to do anything to compensate us, nor were they willing to offer alternatives - except the recommendation that we should go elsewhere for plants.  We were not offered any kind of compensation for our inconvenience.  We have not been given a refund. We actually still want the plants, if Spring Hill can get their act together.  Otherwise, we will not have a garden and we went through all the trouble of preparing the garden site for nothing.
    I would not recommend this company.  It seems that the only thing they are good for is spamming your email once you've ordered from them.  Spring Hill sells products that they do not have, and they give customers the runaround while they use the customer's money interest free for a month.  My best advice is to avoid them altogether.  I wish we would have.

    Jerry's Home & Garden Center
    Jerry came out and looked over the site, discussed what we needed and made recommendations, providing us with a quote for the work that was fair and clear. We decided to proceed with getting some trees planted this fall and put off part of the rest of the job until spring.
    There was a bit of a scheduling snafu which resulted in Jerry and his crew arriving to do the work sooner than I was expecting (and in fact barely before I got my first cup of coffee in the morning), but apart from that everything went according to plan and they had the work done by mid-morning. Everything was left neat and tidy, I was given care instructions (not much needed since it is fall and the trees are going dormant anyway) and a warranty on the health of the trees for one year.
    Definitely happy and will hopefully be back in touch with Jerry in the spring to do the next phase of the work.

    UPDATE: The harsh winter we had in 2013 set the river birch back on its heels a bit and Jerry gave great advice over the phone as to what to look for, offering to replace it anytime if needed. It looked pretty sad for 2014, but as he predicted sprung right back into excellent health in 2015. Always great to have someone who stands by their work like that.

    The whole process went very smoothly from the beginning to the end.  I connected with several of their employees through the process and everything was done in a professional manner.  Two installers came right on time on a Saturday and accomplished the entire process in that day, working from 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 P.M. which was fine with me.  They did a great job!  They took great care of my home in the process and did a good job cleaning up.  I love my "new" cabinets!

    It is a great place for buying a wide variety of plants. They have a big selection. Their staff is usually very helpful if you want some suggestions about what you might plant in the shady area or something like that. But the place can get pretty crowded sometimes especially at this time of the year.

    They were friendly and helpful every time I went in. They had me loaded quickly and on my way or were willing to stand and talk to me about my project if that is what I needed to do. These guys are A+ in every respect.

    Went well. my past experience here has been that some of the help have ignored me or been rude. once i went to return a broken tool and they were unwilling to exchange it until I called the manager over.
