Saint Paul Custom Frames Reviews

F
"This was by far my worst experience using a remodeling contractor service/business that I have ever had. I will NEVER use them again and I highly encourage others to do the same. The value for your money could be better served by using another company. We chose to work with them because our understanding based on feedback from others, and from a friend who had used them in the past, was that they were a great company to work with. I believe as they have gotten bigger and have more jobs, that has changed. Attention to detail is severely lacking and my overall customer service experience has been the WORST customer experience. While this was my first time using them, it will certainly be our last.
When you choose a contractor like
Saint Paul Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
you pay a premium. You pay a premium and for that premium you expect to not have to deal with the little details, a smooth process, and superior service. Things happen and companies/sub-contractors are not perfect and we totally get that, but almost EVERY single detail/work had to be redone and some multiple times. Our job was supposed to take approximately 5 weeks, but in reality it took approximately 13 weeks. Issues were plentiful and were due to use of poor subcontractors (who didn't pay attention to details), architects/designers who didn't pay attention to details, a project manager that while an incredibly nice guy was probably too overstretched, and a management team who didn't seem to care when we initially voiced concern. We were failed on so many levels and we are SO incredibly disappointed with the process.
Issues included holes drilled in stone where they shouldn't have been, shower rods being installed at the wrong height so that new tile had to be placed, warped cabinet doors, bad paint jobs, vanity ordered without all the wood sides (wasn't forgotten, just wasn't ordered because the attention to detail wasn't there), faucet fixture selections that our designer/architects said would fit were installed and ended up not working out and needed to be replaced with totally new fixture and type of fixture, divets in our wood frames that couldn't be patched well due to the types of nails/screws used so they all had to be reordered, mirror frames too tight to fit the mirrors so that the nails popped through the wood and frames needed to be redone..... the list goes on and on. None of these alone are issues, but the culmination of these and the need to come back for some items to fix them more than once, became frustrating... especially when you pay a premium to not have as much of this happen. Believe it or not, we were accepting of most everything and worked with the team to accommodate until this happened......
The subcontractors accidentally went off plan and drilled three holes for our soaking tub in the stone which were not supposed to be there. The project manager (PM) asked if we would be interested in getting a new tub to accommodate. We were open to that and wanted to work with them however, if that was the case the original tub had too high of a profile and wouldn't accommodate our faucet selection which matched with our other fixtures. So, our PM told us to see if we saw anything we liked. We found some images of a tub we liked. It didn't have to be this tub and we weren't even sure if this tub would work, so if he could find one that worked that was like this, we were okay leaving the holes. He asked us to email the photos. Next thing we know, we get an email in response (no in-person, no phone call) telling us that this tub is an upgrade and we would have to pay for the upgrade. WHOA! We were working with them to fix their problem, didn't need that tub, just liked the height of the profile, and weren't even sure it would fit. Turns out, our PM hadn't even looked to see if it would work in the hole we had (it didn't by the way) and just looked at the cost of the tub image we sent. His response was essentially, 'you owe us more money to fix a problem we created.' After so many problems and lack of attention to detail (even in communication methods), I reached out to
Saint Paul Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
, the VP of Sales and Marketing at
Saint Paul Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
. I was irate and to be fair, I did light him up on the phone, but he defended his team (what happened to the customer is always right?) and said he would reach out to the team and get back to me. He did ask me if I had reached out to my team and I said I wanted to talk to someone else. What I wanted was for him to talk to the team get back to me with a plan to try to stop the craziness and redo's. It would have been wonderful if he and the team with the architects sat down with our plans and reviewed it all again along with the plan to figure out how they could turn this around.... never happened, nothing even close to it.
Within 30 minutes our contractor called me and told me he had a message from
Saint Paul Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
that I was unhappy. He had not even spoken with
Saint Paul Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
yet!!! I explained and he apologized. He worked to fix the issue, but nothing changed. Until the project was completed, more things were fixed. The nail in the coffin was that
Saint Paul Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
, who assured me he would work with the team, get to the bottom of it and get back to me sent us an email that said he had spoken with the PM and said he heard we were fine. I never responded and I thought that would get a return phone call. NOPE! He sent ANOTHER email asking if everything was good. After how angry I was on the phone, I deserved a return phone call. I was so DONE!!!! Never again and at this point, there is NOTHING that they can do to fix this. They sure did want their full amount for the service though!!!
At the end of the work,
Saint Paul Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
contacted us for the final walkthrough and to give us some gift that they provide to their clients. We never responded. They had their money in full for poor service and lack of attention to detail and they are not welcome in my home EVER AGAIN! If you can believe it, at this point i FINALLY got a phone call from
Saint Paul Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
wondering how things were and when his team could schedule to come to my house. THE NERVE!!!!! I informed him that they were not welcome, I will never use them again, and everyone I meet and know will hear about my poor experience. He did ask the President to give me a call and
Saint Paul Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
was kind enough to try to reach out. He wanted to fix things. I did attempt to call him once and he wasn't available. I did share that there is no fixing this, my willingness to speak with him was to ensure he was aware of our poor experience so that maybe if he cared enough, which others clearly did not, he could fix this for others in the future. He did want to hear from me, but we're done. I'm tired of reliving the nightmare.
Long story, but bottom line. don't USE THEM!! I never write reviews and I was so upset by my experience that I am writing one. You can get more value for your money elsewhere, you WILL BE happier in the long run, and you and your hard earned money deserve that much. Anything they choose to write in defense of themselves or to suggest that they cared through this process is, in my opinion, not worthy of accepting at face value. Actions speak
Saint Paul Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
than words. Too little, too late!!

Saint Paul Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
has been doing framing for me for years and everything she has done looks great and I especially like the special artistic touches (unique fillets, discreet touches of color inside the matting, etc) which make the painting or print really pop. This summer I brought her what I thought was a fairly ordinary signed print which had been hanging unnoticed in my home for years and asked if it was hopeless and pretty much asked her to do whatever she thought might make it worthy of hanging in my new home. I now have a work of art, not an ordinary print, that is the focal point of my dining room. She used a

gold frame, perfect matting and a narrow fillet which matches the frame. It also has non reflective museum quality glass. I cannot believe it's the same print and everyone thinks it's something new..

"The woman at
Saint Paul Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
Ave Frame Shop was very helpful and friendly. She repaired the scratches in the poster so that the repairs are nearly invisible. The two posters were available even before she promised and looked great. I will definitely use their service again."

"A great service provider - the guys at
Saint Paul Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
have worked on a number of projects for me over the last few years and I cannot recommend them highly enough. On this particular project, the original frame that I selected turned out not to be available with the black inner fillet line that worked really well with the images - not a problem as the guys got an identical frame with a silver fillet and painted it black for me. Very friendly, professional and reasonably priced."

"This is the third time I've had something framed at
Saint Paul Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
, and as usual everything was great. They suggested several different frames based on the style of and colors in the poster, and I love the one I ultimately settled on. It was ready a week later and looks wonderful hanging in my home!"

"At first I was very impressed with the responsiveness of the employees at the frame shop. They called me back with an estimate promptly and got the work done within a couple of weeks. They called me twice when the picture was ready to be picked up and seemed to be running a very professional business. This was refreshing! However, when I came to pick up the artwork it was not in the frame. The woman who was helping me told me that it would be risky to put it back in the old frame because the frame itself may contain mold spores. She was a little abrupt and rude in her manner, I thought, but that's an aside. I said that since I wasn't expecting it, I would have to replace the frame as well, I'd like to think about going with a less-expensive frame. To this, I was told (somewhat condescendingly) that given the size it would be hundreds of dollars. I felt trapped. There I was with my artwork out of the frame, being told that I shouldn't put it back in the original frame and that to buy a new frame would cost over $500.00. I was so disappointed. I felt that I had spent $160.00 for something I couldn't put back on the wall. It just isn't in my budget right now to shell out another $500.00. After expressing my frustration/disappointment they said it might be possible to re-use the old frame but that the matting would still be well over $200.00. I said that I thought they should have mentioned the problem with re-using the old frame up-front. They responded that they had no idea whether there was mold in the frame at the time I brought it in. I asked if they knew with certainty whether there was mold on the frame now. They essentially said that they didn't know but could probably tell if they looked at it closely. (!) OK so they told me I shouldn't re-use the old frame but really didn't have a clear sense of its condition. As I said, I felt trapped and was being somewhat manipulated into buying a new (and expensive) frame. And I was so looking forward to hanging my auspicious Chinese fish. Not sure how I'll move forward with it now but whether
Saint Paul Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
Frame Shop intentionally misled me or not, I do feel a little manipulated. Anyway, I thought hard about whether this was a "C" or "D" experience. I spent $160 for something I can't use and the whole process was so upsetting.

"Great. The selection process was quick and easy.
Saint Paul Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
had good suggestions and worked w/ my budget. Frame selection is huge. It is obvious by displays that employees know, love and have a taste for all art. I felt confident about what I was going to end up with the moment I walked in. Service was quick, 1 week for all 3. Upon pickup, I was given free hooks & verbal instructions on mounting the pieces. I would have liked to have the paintings delivered, and maybe even hung professionally, and would have been willing to pay for that, but when I asked about it I felt there was a bit of a push back so I didn't press it. Overall, I would RECOMMEND YOU GO HERE but know that the cost seemed on the high side to me. I felt I did get quality I paid for & have positive memories of the experience. Know the frame for my prize piece which I "really" wanted would have cost $1K, but I came away with perfect alternative."

"I have had 20+ prints custom framed at this store and they have done an excellent job every time. I always rely on them for advice on color, mat selection, frame selection, etc. I have had old antique prints done as well as new ones and I like the attention to detail that is provided with my old, sometimes very fragile prints. They use acid free products and know how to use them. The price is very competitive when a sale is on. The person I always ask for when framing is

. She is the department manager and is very good selecting colors and frame styles.

and the ladies in the store were extremely friendly and helpful. They were very patient with us as we tried to decide what to do with an oversized piece and provided invaluable insight and advice.
Saint Paul Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
came by this morning to deliver the oversized piece which wouldn't fit in our car and then helped us hang it (and the two pieces in the children's room). We would recommend this shop without reservation. FYI -- I didn't do a price comparison with any other shop (picked them out originally because of the Angie's List recommendation)."

"We were very happy with the service. The owner helped us pick out mat and frames to match each of our pieces. He has a great eye, and we appreciated his comments and suggestions. The price ($800) seems reasonable. We have more framing we would like to do in the future, and we plan to return to the same store."
