    Randy's Electric
Work was done well -- clean-up, trash put in boxes from new lights, arrived a little before they said they would arrive, two electricians, their foreman came to check on them -- seemed to be a very professional and responsible company based on the their personnel that came to my house.

    Randy's Electric
Jared and Jack really had their work cut out for them on this job and they were totally awesome ! VERY hard working guys and happy to answer any questions that we had. Kept everything clean as they worked and cleaned up again when they were finished. I would gladly hire Randy's Electric again in a heartbeat, and will recommend them to everyone I know who needs HIGH QUALITY electrical work completed. They may not be the cheapest company out there, but I doubt you will find anyone else that will do a better job for you. Thank you Jared, Jack and Randy's Electric !!!

biota - A Landscape Design + Build Firm
following is the letter I gave to biota this spring- it is somewhat long but explains the full problem To: Steve Modrow Biota Landscape 211 St. Anthony Pkwy Suite 102 Minneapolis, MN February 24, 2017 I really debated even spending the effort needed to write this correspondence but the situation has bothered me for almost a year. In February of 2016, I attended the Home and Garden Show and saw the biota exhibit and talked to Steve Modrow. He seemed to be someone that I could work with and would understand my aesthetics. On March 23, 2016, Steve came to my home and I presented my reason for wanting a landscape project done. I thought he understood my needs and priorities. I stated the primary reasons I considered doing the work was to correct drainage problems and to add a front deck that would increase the top stair space. He requested a check for $1100 for his design services, which I paid on that date. He said he would send a person from his company who does the measurements necessary for my yard elevations. I didnt hear anything from him for almost a month. I made a call to the office and asked what the delay was and he said- Oh, I was just going to call you. I will come out tomorrow to take the measurements. Coincidence? He came and took measurements. I was again patient but a month later I had again not heard from him. Biota was having an open house, so I decided to show up. Steve was there and I asked how the project was proceeding and asked if I could see the designs. He stated that he was too busy at the moment but would come out in a few days. Coincidence? Well, he did come out with a design and a quote. After two months, what was presented to me was a design that not only did not address my primary concerns, but had a large number of features that were not only not what I had asked for but were really unsuitable to my home. The front deck top landing was no larger than the current top landing and there was no mention of correcting drainage (i.e. drain tiles, etc.). But there was a $3000 post in the front yard and a large landscaped garden in the back that would totally block the view of the lake when it was mature. Not to mention the added yard work it would require when I had specifically stated low maintenance as a priority. This is now May 2016 and he left saying he would get a better design to fit my requirements. The last contact I had with Steve and the company was an email sent on May 26, 2016. It is as follows: Linda- I pulled together a "bigger" landing using a computer rendering so we can get several views of the space. Please take a look at see how we are able to make the entry function with a 6' landing at the top and still retain the essence of the original ideas. There are some visual constraints with the computer rendering so don't let yourself get distracted by some of the coloration and material looks! I want to make sure we get this correct, so there is no additional charge from using the computer program and additional time to create the entry view. I am working through ideas for the side landing/fencing and will send those over to you in the next few days. Thanks! Steve Steve Modrow, co-Owner, ASLA, Principal-Design biota | Landscape Design + Build [*** Link removed ***] | 612-781-4000 211 St. Anthony Parkway, Studio 102, Minneapolis, MN 55418 Well once again nothing was ever sent in the next few days and I never heard from him or the company again. And his magnanimous statement about not having an additional charge is insulting since he didnt do what was requested to begin with. I truly feel that I completely wasted $1100 not to mention months of my time waiting. I guess it was a very costly lesson. As I mentioned at the start of this letter, I debated spending the effort to address this situation. But I dont want someone else to have the same expensive lesson I had and I will probably be writing a review of my experience. (this is the letter I gave to Steve at the Home and Garden Show March 2017. I never heard from him either by email, phone, etc. So I decided to enter this review). Obviously a very poor experience.

    Sherco Construction
They are very easy people to deal with. I went to a model home, and decided to use this company. On the phones, they are very easy to get a hold of. They sub contract out a lot of the work, but they have very good workmanship. They sub contract out each separate job like roofing, flooring, etc. This is my first time using them. The house comes with their standard items, and if you want the nicer items you have to upgrade. When you upgrade, then you are spending more money. There is an extra cost. They do not furnish the towel racks, mirrors, etc.

    Randy's Electric
I had a great experience with Randy's Electric from the first email to completion of the services.  I got a quick reply from Abby in the office after my initial inquiry, was scheduled within a few days and I found everyone to be very helpful and kind.  Will and Steve did an excellent job today performing the services I needed!  They answered my questions with ease, performed the work very quickly and efficiently and were extremely pleasant to be around.  They wore shoe covers every time they entered the house, they cleaned up after the drilling, they were very friendly and they were even nice to my dog!  They also asked if there was "anything else" I needed and then proceeded to change out a light bulb in a tall fixture that I couldn't reach.  Will even told me of some new technology with synced smoke detectors and a wifi garage door control that I might have them do next.  I would highly recommend them and everyone at Randy's Electric!  I will certainly use them next time I need anything electrical done in my home!

    John Kivel Electric
John arrived promptly and got to work. The install was tricky as there had never been an overhead light in the room and there was virtually no access. However, he's a very seasoned pro obviously because he figured it out quickly. The light we purchased, along with a dimmer switch and a new outlet were installed quickly and professionally. He even fixed some wiring and installed a new plate on an old light switch in the same room. When he was done, I had some questions on led lighting and he was good enough to show me some examples and talk about best uses for the technology.
I'd hire him again in a second.

    Architectural Landscape Design Inc
I was very impressed with the crew that worked on our project.   It turned out great and the crew was very friendly, conscientious and professional.   They took great pride in their work and did whatever it took to ensure that the result was perfect.   They also took care to avoid destroying the surrounding area and ensure that everything was cleaned up and gutters etc. we're in place every day in case it rained while they were gone.

    Eric Mortenson Construction
Eric is booked several weeks in advance and he only builds decks in the Spring, Summer and Fall so, as others have stated, get in touch with him 2-3 months before you need your new deck. Eric and his assistant, Scott, do all of the work themselves keeping the quality and craftsmanship at the premier craftsman level. Eric states on his website that he does only high end decks and porches but he delivers value beyond expectations. When the design is locked and a $1,000 deposit is paid he has the design documents prepared, takes care of HOA approvals and pulls all permits. The progression is painless and he keeps you up to date on approvals and anticipated start time and estimated completion date. He started right on time and completed a couple of days early. His attention to detail, leveling, mitering corners, cutting in gutters and providing LED lighting for the deck posts complete with photoelectric timers. The process was the most painless construction project I have ever experienced and the results exceeded my expectations.

    A & D Creative Landscaping & Irrigation LLC
A&D Creative's work was AWESOME! We are extremely pleased with the results and have received lots of compliments from neighbors! Our new patio is a lovely update to our home - we had it installed in the front of our porch and now have an inviting area leading to our home and much improved curb appeal. A&D used high quality materials and their workmanship is excellent - strong attention to detail and Adrian is a perfectionist! He and his crew were professional and worked efficiently to complete our project. Since the project was completed in June, we've had several storms and heavy rain. The way they designed the grade and drainage of the patio is perfect. We had three bids prepared and Adrian's was the most competitive bid...and well worth the money spent. Adrian knows his business well and was very prompt in coming out to measure and help create the design and then had a solid quote to us within the same day. We highly recommend A&D Creative Landscaping & Irrigation!

    Touchstone Accent Lighting Inc
I would highly recommend Touchstone - they were fabulous!  Lisa & Mark were wonderful to work with - they designed a great lighting plan, were very responsive, and got everything installed before the ground froze.  Their technician, Paul did a terrific job installing everything and was great to work with as well. We absolutely love the way it turned out and we would definitely use them again!
