My original review for them was mixed just because we wanted them back to finish a small job and just to get ahold of them was difficult. Well, they made that right!!! Showed up and added onto to a paving area that we had realized we wanted larger after they previously finished the first job. As usual, it looks beautiful at a very fair price. I am much more satisfied. So much so, that we are booking them for a much bigger job next spring, 2020. They really do beautiful work. They are very, very, very busy, and sometimes it can be hard to connect with them. I really appreciated that they worked on being more accessible and cared how I rated them and how we felt about the job. It got them another job with us, and I am really excited to also see the back patio with those beautiful pavers.

    Jerry's Home & Garden Center
Years ago I had a professional landscape design done (by an individual who just does landscape designs) and needed to find a company to "install it". After getting several bids I went with Jay's bid (head of landscaping at Jerry's). His price was competitive and he provided me with an itemized (down to the "individual plant level") list of costs. I liked that better than the other bids which gave me either a grand total or a very high-level breakdown in costs (labor + materials for example). Jay was opinionated and informed about how we carried out our plans. At bid time, when he sat down with us, he gave recommendations about things we should change with our design, justified them well, and convinced us that we'd prefer his suggestion. I really liked that, having a partner in the process - as he would cite his experience for knowing what's best for our situation. Jay also leads his company's one-and-only crew, so he noted that he'd be well aware of the entire project (since he'd be personally working on it) and could make things right if we felt unsatisfied. All in all, we felt confident that we had a capable partner in our project. To get a sense of scale, Jay said a few times that our project was one of the bigger projects he's done. Nothing too special in my opinion, just a lot of work. Tearout, re-edging, mulch, paver walkway, firepit patio, lots of new plants. I mention this because Jay said before the project began that it would take him 3.5 days to complete. He's a confident guy but that seemed like an aggressive timeline. But the weather cooperated and his crew worked hard, really hard, and they finished on time. Guess he does a good job of planning. We originally agreed upon the project 3 months before his anticipated start date, and the start date happened exactly as he predicted. So he must be really good at planning. Anyway, the project itself went very smooth and Jay was ready and willing to answer our questions and our small change requests as the project work was underway. The quality of the work seems very high to me (I'm no expert, but it looks great). The crew was professional through and through, a pleasure to work with. At the conclusion of the project, they fully cleaned up and gave us good instructions on how to maintain our new landscape. Downsides... nothing really sticks out. Jay's a busy guy so there's been times I had to wait for him to respond when I texted him questions or needed to talk, but that all makes sense given how he works on the crew.

Working with King Scapes went very well and we highly recommend them to others! Our salesman, Donald, was great to plan and work with. He knew all the right materials to recommend at our price point and with our home's style and age in consideration. The team worked long, hot and sometimes rainy days to get the job done on time, but never without compromising quality. They also worked very carefully in tight spaces without damaging anything we didn't plan on removing to begin with and cleaned up the work site at the end of every day. The final result is a beautiful series of retaining walls, steps and sidewalks that are the talk of the block. We are very pleased with the job and look forward to working again with King Scapes in the future.

    Craft Concrete and Landscaping
Cole replaced an old front walkway for us. He was easy to work with, the concrete looks great and he was reasonably priced. He was one of the few companies that did a small job for a reasonable price. For a relatively small stretch of walkway, we have gotten tons of compliments from friends and neighbors.

Update: The business recently reached out to me to come back to complete the 2nd job. Honestly, these guys do an excellent job. Very beautiful work at a fair price. I would have rated them fantastic except that post the job, we realized we should have had them extend the wall. Our fault but we thought we could easily have them back to extend it. That did not prove to be very easy, i.e. impossible. Trying to hire someone else for that tiny extension seemed even harder, so we are rather stuck. We could attach it to a bigger job we are doing in 2020, but really, it is already a year later since the original retaining wall was put in. We got a quote this spring, but then we felt like we were bugging them and causing them trouble to want them to be the ones to add on. They did not seem to be happy we wanted them back. We were willing to wait till this year because they are so in demand. But then after the quote was given to us in April or May, we were just recently told it wouldn't happen till fall and maybe not at all. I honestly can understand their dilemma. They have more work than they can do, but it feels bad to just be brusquely put off. Basically the message is, it's probably not happening. And nothing in the message said - gosh guys, we're sorry. We want to do the job, we just can't fit it in. Anything. After that, I wrote back and asked if we should just give up and there was no response. I said I would hire them back again, but if there was a MAYBE, I would have chosen that, cause now I just feel bad, like - forget about it, we'll figure something out.

I'm long overdue to write this review, but we hired King Scapes last summer to complete an extensive project to replace a rotten timber retaining wall, replace it with stone, and build a new stone patio with fire pit in our back yard. Even before that, we had met with Don to discuss our broader vision for our yard and he created a three-phase plan (this was phase two) that we could complete as it made logistic and financial sense for us. We were extremely impressed with the professionalism and the quality of work that was completed. They always kept us up to date on what was happening and asked us whenever a decision needed to be made. This ensured we were happy with the finished product. The project was burdened by lousy weather, and they never complained nor did they cut corners to get the job done faster. The work wasn't cheap but that's the nature of the project we embarked upon. We just wanted it done right. I would highly recommend King Scapes.

biota - A Landscape Design + Build Firm
We live in the Summit-University neighborhood of St. Paul, and in summer 2018 we had a weed patch masquerading as a lawn, dying hedges (because the previous owner planted sun-loving shrubs in our shady yard), a wobbly brick patio, and a falling-down fence. We hired biota to re-do the whole spaceto add a patio in front to facilitate hanging out with our awesome neighbors, to add an entertaining area in the back, and to re-plant the whole yard with low-maintenance species that would thrive despite the shade. Although we clearly knew how we wanted to *use* the space, we didnt have very clear ideas for style or design. I believe we (rather unhelpfully) said, Modern, but not too modern. This didnt deter Eric! He had us discuss some pictures of biotas previous work to get a sense of what we liked, and then he went to work. We were thrilled with his initial designs and pleased with how he integrated the few suggestions we had for modifications. Eric worked with us to design a beautiful and functional space that stayed within our budget. When the time came for the build, the crew was amazing! They worked efficiently, and (our favorite part) the foreperson (Joe) sent daily emails updating us on what they accomplished that day and what was planned for the next day. Throughout the process, the communication with everyone at biota was phenomenal. The build crew worked efficiently, and our yard was done before we knew it! At the very end, Eric walked through the space with us to make sure we were happy with everything (we were!) and to go over how to maintain it all. If we ever need landscaping done in the future, we will 100% work with biota again.

    Sirek Landscaping Co.
Despite our horrid weather, project was done in under 3 weeks from estimate to completion. Tom had a great understanding of what was needed/wanted and suggested material to complete the project in a better way than we initially envisioned when we thought we'd do it ourself. His crew installed the already-purchased pavers, leveled, dug out dirt and rocks, filled in under the AC and the dog holes, and did a professional installation of both the pavers and the new small retaining wall which we hadn't thought about (we'd put in cinder blocks and cheap rectangular pavers for toppers years ago and they were extremely deteriorated). Excess dirt was used to fill in holes, excess sod was put in places it was needed. They even moved my day lilies and irises to the designated area. They also took care to keep the gate closed as much as possible and accommodated my going in and out to potty our dogs while they were working. Everyone was professional and pleasant. The difference is amazing. We feel we received great value for our money and will definitely hire Tom again should we need more landscaping done.

    Ecoscapes Sustainable Landscaping
After a year here, we thought we knew our property. But in one hour, Craig gave us more information and solutions than we ever came up with on our own. Ecoscapes offers us ecological and economical ways to stop erosion, turn drainage problems into self-watering gardens, and plant things where they love to grow. They are flexible to work with, letting us choose to do some work ourselves. Past experience with Ecoscapes at our previous home convinces us the results will make our yard work better for us and be beautiful to boot! Craig communicates well about expectations and scheduling, too. Highly recommended.

Rescue Me Remodeling and Concrete LLC
I have hired Jesse for several jobs over past couple years, hes always on time, friendly and honest about the work needing to be done to get the result I want, as well as being knowledgeable about possible hidden costs that may come up over the course of a project. I had gotten cheaper bids on some of the earlier projects but I learned a few years ago you get what you pay for and any issues or concerns I had on a project with Jesse he was quick to address them to my satisfaction. He's the first call I make for projects.
