Car Inspection reviews in Saint Paul

I took my car in to get the brakes inspected because the brake light was coming on and I had to push the pedal all the way down before the car would stop. I was guessing there was a leak somewhere and wanted them to check it out. My fiancee has taken her car there for years so I thought I would get a fair deal (although after looking over her receipts I'm pretty sure they were ripping her off for years as well). They charged me $76 just for the inspection (a lot of places will give you a free estimate), and told me it would cost over $800 to fix the rear brake line, which was rusted through and leaking fluid. The car is a 1992 Dodge Grand Caravan on its last legs, not worth the money. I told them I was going to scrap it. They said they could waive the inspection fee if I gave them the car. I told them I would take the car home and donate it to charity for a $500 tax write-off, which is a much better deal for me. That right there made me suspicious. Then when I was driving the car home, the rear brake was making a grinding noise and producing a horrible smell (neither of these things were happening before I brought the car in). I'm not saying they sabotaged my car, but the facts are awfully suspicious. Anyway I will never go back to those guys again, they're a bunch of bandits.- Luke A.
GREAT! Provider name locked. replaced my starter motor with a minimum of labor charges, and then set about investigating the source of the knocking/creaking noise in the front end. They removed the axle bearings, inspected them, and finding nothing amiss, repacked them. After that, the noise went away-- but because Provider name locked. couldn't find the cause of the noise, they didn't charge me for the "repair," which has not recurred to date (Feb 2010)!- Daniel P.
It was an excellent experience. They squeezed us in on a busy day. They did the transmission check, found nothing wrong, and gave us an honest report. They charged us the exact amount they quoted us.- MARK R.
