"J&J took down my chimney about half way then capped it. I asked to keep the bricks and expected them to just pile them up on my patio. But, they stacked the bricks neatly under my deck. The site was left very clean. Some very minor damage was done to the

near the chimney.
Saint Louis Chimney Covers Provider Name Locked
came out, explained how he would fix it, then came back and fixed it. No denials, no arguments--just fixed it. Can't even tell it was damaged.
Professional and easy to work with. I would recommend them and will probably use them again for other masonry repair I need.

"The owner was responsive to my calls and punctual on the first 'assessment visit'. Due to 'big deal' sales, he ended up not doing the work himself - his son (?) did the tuckpointing & installed new chimney cap. Work was completed on time and they cleaned up afterwords. Easy to recommend this company for others looking for minor chimney repairs.

"A call was placed to request an estimate for chimney repair on Sep. 10.

provided an estimate the very next day. The work was authorized at that time and was performed 2 days later by a crew of 2. The

"We moved into our 40+ year old home in August of 2011. One of the recommendations on our home inspection was to have the chimney/cap reviewed by a professional because much of the mortar/bricks were soft and appeared to be in need of repair. Cut to St.
Saint Louis Chimney Covers Provider Name Locked
’s day 2012, when St.
Saint Louis Chimney Covers Provider Name Locked
received quite the downpour and where flooding was fairly rampant. We hadn’t had any problems with the chimney up to that point, but our flue for the gas fireplace was still open because of the random weather we were having. We could see water dripping into the chimney through the cement cap, and called and left a voicemail with
Saint Louis Chimney Covers Provider Name Locked
that afternoon.

We didn’t hear back first thing on Monday because of a voicemail issue, but when I called to follow up that afternoon, I was told that the owner,
Saint Louis Chimney Covers Provider Name Locked
, would be by no later than Tuesday to provide an estimate. Sure enough, we received our estimate in the mail later that week, dated 3/20/12, and on Friday 3/23 accepted the proposal via email. We were told that scheduling was about one week of working weather out.

Early the next day (3/24/12), I received a call on my cell phone from Mr.
Saint Louis Chimney Covers Provider Name Locked
. He said that the chimney work was a perfect Saturday job and since there was no longer rain in the forecast, he could have someone over to complete the work shortly, if that worked out for us. We were going out of town and said that would work perfectly. Much of the work was completed before we left later that morning, and
Saint Louis Chimney Covers Provider Name Locked
’s employee finished up after we left.

We haven’t had any problems since, even after the many days of heavy rain that have followed, and the only negative I can speak of on the experience is that the cleanup of the job site could have been a little more thorough. There were pieces of brick and chunks of mortar on the walkway just outside our basement by the AC unit, which is just down from where the chimney is located. There was also a fair amount of mortar dust on the deck and atop the garbage cans on the side of the house near the garage, though I understand that is nearly unavoidable.

Long story short(ish), we know we have some additional

to be completed on our home, and will be calling on
Saint Louis Chimney Covers Provider Name Locked
again when the time comes to have that work completed. We’ve already recommended them to friends and family, and my brother-in-law had a similarly good experience with

"Sweep of chimney: Excellent job, set up time quickly after call. Neat and professional.

New chimney cap: Job was delayed due to weather and need for 2 people due to need for very long ladder. I did have to call several times to get them to reschedule. In the end it looks great and they returned quickly when I noticed

of metal flashing just below cap that had come loose."

Saint Louis Chimney Covers Provider Name Locked
has very creative ideas about how to solve problems presented by an old house. Always does what he says he will do, arrives on time, leaves a clean house even with messy plastering and insulation projects. He takes pride in his work and makes an effort to satisfy his customers."

"I called on a Friday afternoon and left a message. Saturday EBS called me back and asked if they could stop by in 15 minutes or so. EBS showed up and said let me take a look. He grabbed his ladder and climbed right up. Next thing I new he was throwing nesting down and fixing the screen. Climbed down and said does that look alright? Perfect. Nothing special but exactly what I was wanting."

"On the day the work was orginally scheduled, we had a sudden ice shower. So when the guys came to work on my chimney they decided to wait a few days due to the unsafe conditions. The job took a half day longer than planned due to some unforseen complications. However, I was not charged anything extra for the unplanned work."

Saint Louis Chimney Covers Provider Name Locked
responded to my email inquiry immediately and was out to the house within a couple days to provide an estimate of making my chimney functional or putting a proper cap on to keep out the weather.
Saint Louis Chimney Covers Provider Name Locked
provided a thorough description of different options as well as an inspection. Upon inspection, he found that the chimney needed to be tuckpointed. I chose the tuckpointing and a cap rather than making my fireplace functional. There was about a month wait until the crew came out. I was notified of the wait time and
Saint Louis Chimney Covers Provider Name Locked
kept in communication about the upcoming schedule. They notified me of the day they would start and sure enough, they were on-time. After the tuckpointer started and got a few layers down, they found out the mortar on the chimney had deteriorated too bad for just a tuckpointing (90 year old house). The crew called the office and they were able to negotiate a cheaper alternative to the cap I had purchased and offered to tear down and rebuild my chimney stack for only $105 in addition to the previous quote. I thought this was fair so the crew stayed on and did a very good job rebuilding my chimney stack over the next 2 days. Update 1: A few weeks later, there was a big rain and the chimney was leaking water worse than it had prior to the rebuild. I promptly notified Chimney Sweep and
Saint Louis Chimney Covers Provider Name Locked
came out immediately. He inspected the chimney and said everything looked fine except the seal between the flashing and the brick was starting to ever so slightly separate (they only rebuilt down to the flashing)...he used a better seal and notified me that usually chimneys have crickets, so they'd write me a quote to build a cricket ($300) just in case that seal wasn't the issue. After the next rain, the water was still leaking, I opted to accept the cricket bid and within a day
Saint Louis Chimney Covers Provider Name Locked
was out installing the cricket. (extremely prompt) After the next rain, the water was STILL leaking. Not knowing where the water was coming from,
Saint Louis Chimney Covers Provider Name Locked
immediately came out and ran a camera up the chimney to inspect for water stains. Everything looked good, so then he ran water over the chimney. While he was running water over the chimney, I notified him that water was coming in! He quickly diagnosed that the concrete cap must not have accepted the sealant they applied after they rebuilt the chimney. After a couple days (the wet chimney needed to dry) they came out and applied another
Saint Louis Chimney Covers Provider Name Locked
of sealant on the cap. After the next rain, I watched very close, the leak was much better but there were still a couple drips. The day after the rain,
Saint Louis Chimney Covers Provider Name Locked
contacted ME to find out how it held up under the rain. I was very impressed that he called ME to check, most contractors are not like this. I notified him it was better, but still had a couple drips. He mentioned they'd come out right away and apply another coat and if that didn't work they'd replace the cap. As of now, I'm still waiting for another big rain to give it a good test. I'll update this report after it rains. Even though this experience has been very frustrating, especially since the chimney was REBUILT...I am still very impressed by Chimney Sweep's (especially
Saint Louis Chimney Covers Provider Name Locked
's) communication, promptness and worksmanship...I understand sometimes crazy things happen (aka leak), but he doesn't appear to be willing to back down until the work is done right and the client is satisfied. Top notch contractor...still waiting to see if the leak is fixed though. Stay tuned... Update: We finally had a big rain (3-4 inches) and I didn't notice any leakage. It looks like it's fixed!! Thanks,
