  • Allen did a great job with the remodel! One of my primary job functions at work is to manage various pipeline construction projects as a project manager so I work with many different contractors. This is also the second house I've had major remodeling done. Though this isn't a pipeline construction project, the interaction was pretty much the same. After getting 5 different quotes from some of the top-rated contractors, revising the scope of work a few times and haggling for the best price, I can tell you that you're going to get the biggest bang for your buck with this Contractor. As with most customers, I had a tight deadline with a narrow budget, and required quality work. When it comes to project management, there are typically 3 project goals. 1. On Time 2. Within Budget 3. High Quality of Work Typically you can successfully get 2 of the 3 but with Allen, I felt like I pretty much got all 3. Allen and his crew worked diligently from start to finish and even worked some weekends to meet the deadline. He was personable, very flexible when I needed to change the scope of work and didn't nickel and dime me for every little change. Though there were some additional costs, it was very reasonable for the extra scope that was added. Based on all this, I would highly recommend Allen for any home remodel projects you might have. There were only 2 reasons why I initially considered not to go with Allen as it made me question the legitimacy of his business. 1. His quote had many misspelled words and grammar issues. 2. He didn’t seem comfortable with drawing up a legal contract, so I ultimately drew one up as I insisted we have a contract. These two reasons gave me reason for pause but I decided that the reasons don’t really reflect his craftsmanship abilities nor his work ethic or honesty which I believe to be more important for this line of work. Ultimately, I’m glad I was able to look pass these reasons as it resulted in great work that was completed on time and within budget!

  • We have experience in building or remodeling a total of 10 times. Because of our past building experience (as owners, not builders) we tend to be the picky, hovering types with lots of questions & suggestions. Additionally we lived on site in a tiny area during 80% of the work. This was the most complicated & expensive project per square foot and yet one of the smoothest. One of the remarkable things about CCH is how good their employees are -- both at their craft and in dealing with the client. Rob, the principal, was involved with initial discussion / negotiations, but once the nails started to fly, he turned it all over to his capable staff. Offsite supervisor and onsite crew were consistent, considerate, capable, approachable, reachable... They took everything we threw their way seriously - and with a sense of humor when appropriate - and never missed a beat! Pretty much the same for most of their subs as well. A total of 8 months was needed to complete the project. They started on schedule and finished a mere 1 week behind schedule despite a few unforeseen things. That too is remarkable considering this was done during the summer of 2017 when contractors were deluged with work. It has been a 11 months since completion and the only call back we have needed was for some paint touch up and skylight leak, all which was covered under warranty. CCH was not the least expensive, but we feel like we got our money's worth. Thanks Rob & crew for a great job!

  • The process went okay overall, except that the work ended up finishing a couple weeks late at a final cost of about 30% over the original estimate. The refinished wood floors and the new wainscotting look great, as does the new fireplace mantle, but the gas insert is to one side of the fireplace, rather than in the center. The painting in parts of the house look good, but elsewhere, it needs touching up all around the molding and trim. The new kitchen countertop, sink, and plumbing fixtures look great, but our dishwasher ended up damaged and no longer functioning, so we had to replace it; it was old, so we didn’t press Stromme Homes to cover the cost of the replacement/repair, but that should not have been a cost for us to bear. Some new overhead light fixtures look beautiful, but the electrician didn’t install the ELV dimming LED lights under the kitchen cabinets correctly the first time, so they were flickering and buzzing when we first saw them; we should not have had to ask for this to be fixed, as it was an obvious issue, but we did have to overcome some initial resistance to get the electrician to come back. The new shower fixtures look great, again, but they have some plumbing issue that’s difficult to find and that’s causing them to leak into the utility room below; the plumber has no interest in returning to fix the problem, and Stromme Homes has no interest in following through to ensure that we have a working shower, so we are trying to figure out the problem on our own. Some of the new shower tiles are also loose, and Stromme Homes is not interested in returning to fix them, so we have had to hire other help to make repairs on our own dime. A part of the kitchen cabinetry is also a slightly different color from the rest, and we’re going to have to pay another painter to fix that, too. At the end of the day, we will get everything where we want it, but only because we’re putting in a lot of extra time and money on our end to reach the finish line. Stromme Homes would probably be a good choice for simpler projects, whether small or large, but our own project with a fair number of customizations finished with too many unresolved issues.

  • I met Jim through my realtor who has known him for many years and have worked together on several homes together. We were in a time crunch from the day of closing to getting our rental house on the market. Not only did Jim did excellent work, but he was quick, on budget, and a very personable person. Jim is also conscientious and extremely reliable. We would definitely hire him again.

  • The Oasis team were excellent through the entire process (from planning through completion)! As a general contractor, Elliot was fantastic at planning the entire process, maintaining transparency, and keeping us abreast of any changes. The team professionally handled a complex project, and were flexible, as we had additional contractors performing work on other portions of the home, and we are a family with young children and a dog, so our family’s schedule was at times unpredictable. I was impressed with the attention to detail given to the finishing touches of the project, especially by Rick. We would certainly recommend Oasis to friends and hire them for future!

  • Jim repaired a shower for us in our 1960's home. The tile had come loose and broken, some of the wood under the tile had water damage. He demoed all the area that needed replacing, and replaced and repaired the wood, tile and grout, and hung a new shower door. It looked amazing afterward!! He also repaired the cupboard flooring under the kitchen sink where we had had a leak and more water damage had occurred. Again, perfect job! He built a new outside crawl space hatch door with pressure treated wood. He repaired the drywall in one of the bedrooms. He hung 4 new screen doors for us...each one had a little different measurements, which meant he had to do some carpentry work in order to make them fit. Awesome job!! Jim is highly skilled, very clean, perfect manners, respectful, and his finished work is amazing. I would recommend him every time. In our case, being that the house was from the 60's, the work we needed done was detailed and specialized, not something that could be done by everyone. Because we were getting the house ready to sell, he actually talked me out of a huge remodel job that would have cost a lot of money, and did a beautiful repair instead. That's integrity, honesty, and good character.

  • It went well -- David made sure to keep in regular contact during the job and I have received numerous compliments (in one case, even from some members of my condo board who were doing scheduled inspections, asked about who did the remodel). I was very happy with the end result and would hire them again. The "B" for punctuality is around some scheduling issues that seemed to be specific to the designer for the job, but once work was underway I was very impressed with quality and pace.
