    Cosmopolitan Hoarder Estate Services, Ltd
    I hired Cosmopolitan Hoarders to do an estate sale at my mother���s home in May. They were patronizing and totally unprofessional. According to their contract, the house was going to be near empty at the end of the sale. This was the reason I was hiring them. It has been 7 months and I have not received a cent for the items they sold. They did not do clean out. After the sale, Mark said that the house was still full of things and that they were ready to start throwing everything away. I asked to be sent photos of what was left, before they starting doing so. Mark sent me photos and included a picture of his *****. It was taken in my mother���s bathroom. He sent photos of unsold items. Antiques, complete dish sets, a custom lamp etc. I asked him to please box these items for donation. He said that wouldn���t be ���cost effective���. I asked him to wait, as I���d be there in the morning to remove any items I didn���t want to go in the dumpster. He accused me of throwing a ���monkey wrench��� into the situation. He said they would be back the following 2 days to do clean out. They never came back for clean out. I waited more than 24 hours for Mark to respond to my texts and calls, asking where they were. He told me they had gotten another gig. Mark and Cheryl made it a point that they would treat my mother���s house & things with respect. They kept saying that items that didn���t sell could be ���moved forward��� to the next sale, including the odds and ends under $5. His story changed dramatically after the sale, and became "if it didn't sell in a 4 day sale, it's garbage, no one wants it". They couldn't sell a gun safe in my mother's basement in 4 days. I sold in in 20 minutes on Craigslist. It was a horrible experience coming back to the house. I had to do over 40 hours of work by myself to clear it out. They left boxes strewn about the yard, doors off their hinges.

    SLEEPERS IN SEATTLE
    Buyer Beware! These people do not have their act together!! We purchased an expensive Stressless chair at their West Seattle showroom. Two different salespeople told us the chair was on sale and included an ottoman, and that the chair was in their New Jersey warehouse. This was on a Sunday. Monday morning rolls around, and we get a call saying, "Ooops, we made a mistake. The chair wasn't on sale, and the ottoman wasn't included. You owe us $750." Like an idiot -- even though I had a signed receipt saying Paid in Full, I gave them my credit card and paid the "balance." Two months go by without any word from Sleepers. When I started to call to inquire, it took three separate phone calls to find out the chair was in fact being assembled in Norway and will be several months longer before receipt. This was ridiculous. No apology, no nothing. Do not buy from these people unless you get everything in writing from the manager!

    SLEEPERS IN SEATTLE
    We bought an American Leather sleeper here for the quality of the sofa bed, and have been happy with it. However, 4 years in, the foam used in the seat cushions have unacceptable wear in them. The sofa was still under warranty, so I contacted Sleepers in Seattle and they said to take photos of the issue for them to send to American Leather for a warranty request. A few weeks later, viola...new cushions are delivered to our door. While I wish the seat cushions had been a better quality foam to begin with, I am very pleased with the customer service in handling the issue.

    My new home has very little storage, so I needed a bed with drawers. And I needed a new mattress.  After shopping for both extensively online and to a lesser degree in stores I remembered Bedrooms And More.  So glad I did.  Pam helped me select the right mattress (ended up with Latex - had been considering memory foam) and a frame.  She was patient as I weighed all my options, and quite personable.  She also recommended mattress pad and duvet to help keep me cool (I'm one of those hot sleepers).  And bamboo sheets.  So I'm all set except for pillows, but that was enough for one day, and I had pillows I could work with short-term.
    Turns out the sheets I wanted didn't come in the color I wanted, so I went back to look a different options another day, and the gentleman who helped me was just as friendly.
    Then, last week, I went back for the missing piece of my sleep ensemble: shredded latex pillows.  Again, great service, recommendations, and in no way pushing the highest price option.
    Oh, and I changed my mind about the color of the frame after it was delivered and set up in my bedroom.  They swapped it out for the other color - I only had to pay for delivery (which was waived the first time around).  Delivery guys (both times) were prompt, courteous and efficient.
    I have already recommended them to friends and will continue to do so.

    When I discovered that the card was nearly depleted, I called the University Village business office. They sell these gift cards, although they do not issue them. (Bank of America issues these cards.)
    I called the business office on a Saturday. I was a bit surprised that there was no one there to answer the phone. After all, this is a shopping mall and Saturday a big shopping day. I left a message, explaining my issue and asking for a call back. Toward the end of the day on the Monday after, I hadn't received a call so I called again. It took several attempts before I could get a live person to speak with. The phone greeting took me in circles and was not helpful, so I had to call back several times. It was also clearly out of date. When I finally spoke with someone about the card, she said that indeed WA has a law that prohibits monthly fees on gift cards, but this card is somehow legitimately is not accountable to that law. In other words: tough luck.

    It is a Chicago based company but they have locations in San Francisco, Seattle and Washington DC. I think that they have six or seven locations. They are fantastic. It almost feels a little bit like you are walking in Crate and Barrel when you are in there but then all of a sudden you will realize that it is very different and their employees do not work on commission. They work on their own salary and benefits. So, you will have a very different thing rather than, "Oh no, you really need to have that 38-foot sofa for your apartment. That will be great. Why don't you buy this chair too?" but it does not match. It is that kind of a sales team where they have very thoughtful service but most of all, the furniture is all American made in North Carolina. They provide great service and they have a fantastic selection. They do a great custom work and their delivery, which most companies now charge you for delivery of furniture, but they charge like $89. The people that work in the delivery are not subcontractors so you do not have like crazy monkeys in the truck ripping your house apart when they drop off your furniture. These guys that showed up are salaried with the company and they are fantastic. It was absolutely the best delivery that I have ever had with any furniture company. The bed had to be assembled and so on and so forth. I highly recommend them for their service, selection and the way that they run their company. You can Google them and go to their website.     SECOND USE BUILDING MATERIALS
    "Repurposing" is something I strongly endorse and firmly believe is a necessary practice. Over the last ten years, Second Use has become my go-to place for finding items large or small, from lighting to furniture to plumbing and appliances. Their website is excellent and has a current inventory listing that is updated every day. In comparison to other reuse/recycle businesses, their prices and selection are the best. One of my favorite finds was an excellent like-new pedestal sink for less than 1/3rd retail.
    Customer service at the store has always been impeccable. They are usually very busy, but will do their best to answer questions, locate items, and help you load. One of my acquisitions was an antique bed frame. Several weeks after the purchase, I received a call from Second Use, asking if the frame was complete. They had found a set of rails with a matching ticket number and wanted to make sure I had received everything needed.
    When looking for anything large or small for the house or yard/garden, Second Use will always be my first stop.

    With family coming in to stay with us on short notice, my wife and I decided to convert a room in our house from an office to a bedroom, so we needed a bedroom set pronto.
    Although the store appeared small from the outside, the selection of furniture and bedding inside was surprisingly good.
    Saleslady Linda Benyak listened attentively to our requirements, and calmly walked us through the various options in a very professional, informative and friendly manner.  There was no sense of sales pressure - or that she might be taking any advantage of our short time frame to make hurried, uninformed decisions.  We felt that she was genuine and helpful.  If there was any question she could not answer fully (there were very few), she would excuse herself briefly and obtain the complete answer.  We left feeling confident that we had made a good choice.  She followed-up later by phone to confirm the delivery schedule.  The delivery went well, and we received everything in good order and in time.
