    SF Limo Express
I have used this service before, usually with good results. This time was awful. First, let's talk about making a reservation: I used their web site to indicate where and when I wanted the ride. I immediate got automatic e-mail response, but with the caveat that "This is a request for service. You will receive a separate confirmation email once your ride has been confirmed. " This confirmation took more than 3 weeks to arrive, during which time I called them to see if there was a problem, and got the story that "we're having some trouble sending out confirmation mail and will re-send". Which I don't quite believe. Now lets talk about the trip to the airport: on the morning of departure, I got (as I always have before) an e-mail reminder from them giving driver name and cell number, but NO DRIVER WAS LISTED. When no car had arrived by 5 minutes past the appointed time, I called the company, and was told that the driver had gone to the airport instead of my house and that they'd send another car. (I don't believe that any driver was confused because I don't believe that a driver was assigned in the first place.) A few minutes later a car did arrive, which I believe was an Uber black car that SF Limo Express had called for me. Finally, the trip back from the airport worked exactly as it was supposed to: I got e-mail and text message from the driver, called him from curbside, and he promptly arrived and drove us home. Perfect.

    Americana Limo Service
Juan and his team have provided transportation services to my family and friends for many years (5+). They have always done a terrific job at an attractive price point and are my go-to transportation provider in the Bay Area. I highly recommend them.

There are a lot of choices for shuttle services.  Find someone else!  This firm was rude, unprofessional, and unhelpful.  My flight landed at 7:50 and calls them before 8 pm.  I called again when I got outside as directed, and based on their instructions, proceeded to walk to the pick up area.  Only at 830 pm did they call (after we were standing out in the cold, on crutches from a recent surgery) and tell us their driver was confused and was 15 minutes late.  The driver finally showed up close to 9 pm.  They gave me $10 off the fare, and refused to let me speak to management.  The driver didn't know where I was going and showed up with a van with no gas further delaying us.  Just awful all the way around.

Using Airbnb for the first time. I am an experienced traveler and have rented greater then 10 vacation homes in 4 countries with flipkey, homeaway, and vrbo. My primary complaint with Airbnb is that they have intercepted every communication between renter and host. Seems a bit NSA like to me. Since booking I have sent multiple emails or texts via their website to the host contact information they provide requesting information. The message, email or text, gets routed through an airbnb address automatically and without notice. My host did not respond to 4 emails and texts sent over the past months time. My trip is now close and I do not have checkin information or responses from my host. I contacted Airbnb customer service who contacted the host. He emailed me via airbnb saying he had not seen any of my correspondence and was completely in the dark. To his knowledge he is emailing my personal email, but it is filtered through airbnb somehow and the return address is an airbnb address not the hosts. I finally had to call him in England using his local number I got from the airbnb confirmation to discuss since our electronic communications were being held hostage by Airbnb. When he text me back from the same number I called, it came to my phone not as the +44 number I called but rather a +1 650 number which is Northern California or yep you guessed it airbnb. Will the apartment be there when I get there? Not sure. Will I be able to contact my host if there is a problem, like I cannot find the place or the key? Who knows. Will I use airbnb again? No way. Too much hassle for no savings over other vacation rentals.

This went very well. The car was waiting at the curb a few minutes before the appointed time. It was clean & comfortable. The cost was just a few dollars more than a taxi would be for the same ride, and it was so much better!
By the way, I made the reservation at their web site, and they were very good about confirming and reconfirming via e-mail. Since we had an early-morning flight, this helped our piece of mind.

Still day number 5 - I haven't heard from Viator.  So - now I must call my credit card company.   Also, I did 6 online customer reviews on Viator for the 6 tours.  Only one tour was mediocre.  Viator deleted my honest reviews keeping only the mediocre review that i've created, so that people don't see the honest reviews.  Viator has no mercy on people after they take your money and do not provide the service.

The only thing that wasn't perfect about my experience was letting me know they'd arrived. Although I gave them both a cell phone number and a land line number, no one thought to call me on that number when I didn't answer the cell phone call.

    Uber Cab
Good price (~20% cheaper than taxi), easy (app with GPS tracker), payment via paypal, including tip etc. and friendly and professional service, clean car. 2nd time I am using it. And rates have even been reduced since then,.

    Desoto Cab Co
I had called numerous cab companies for quotes and found DeSoto Cab (from Angie's list) to be the most reasonable. My father had used them several times already and I had occasion to use them yesterday. The company appears to be run very well. On the return trip from Kaiser, there were several people who were waiting for Desoto Cab. Our driver asked the other people for their names and called his company to confirm their reservations and to ensure them that a different driver would be with them shortly. I was impressed with this company's level of service and commitment. The other surprise I learned was that Kaiser hospital has a phone dedicated to calling cabs for their customers/patients and that phone goes directly to DeSoto cab.

    Hotwire Inc
This is the first time I've used to book the trip I'm currently on. The problems started when I arrived at Medford Airport last night (8.1.2013) to pick up my car from Hertz and was informed that they don't accept Debit cards although the info provided clearly stated that Hertz does accept "Credit and Debit/Check cards in the primary driver's name". All of the other car rental agencies did accept debit cards but they had no cars available. So I was stuck in Medford, Oregon 54 miles away from my final destination without a vehicle and it was late at night. I ended up taking a taxi 54 miles to Yreka which cost $158.00.
When I called today they had no idea that Hertz doesn't accept debit cards. Then they told me they cancelled the car rental protection fee of $36.00. Just by chance I checked my email a few minutes later to discover that Hotwire cancelled my return flight reservation! When I called back to insist they fix it immediately, they were contrite and blamed it on their system.

Needless to say I won't use ever again.
