    It went well. Fellow came out, checked dates on all extinguishers in the house and determined they were still under the active time frame of 6 years, and took them out to his truck to do a dry chemical press.

    Amcest Corporation
    The alarm that was supposed to be programmed by Amcest didn't work I then wasted 4 days staying home following the tech's instructions on the phone. The alarm still didn't work. After that my emails and phone calls to the tech and to the company president, Fred Rosenfeld were not returned. After speaking to his assistant for 2 days I was told to uninstall the alarm, the second keypad, the door sensors, motion detectors and smoke alarms and ship it back to Amcest at my expense in order to get my refund. I also had prepaid for 4 more months of monitoring.

    I had Vivint come to install a security system. The installer showed up on time calling me prior to arriving. He did a walk around and assessment of what would be needed to install the system. Unfortunately for me having an older Victorian San Franciscan home I found out that their system would not work in my home. The installer told me that similar homes my have a configuration that works and others like mine don't. I was disappointed it did not work out but I was very pleased with how the installer handled the cancellation and there was no charge for the call. 

    With modification to my home I could have the system installed and was given the needed information by the installer.

    SimpliSafe Home Security
    It was not that great. We thought that we would be able to get certain services and we wouldn't have to pay for the monitoring but it was not like that. That wasn't made very clear. We thought one of the advantages of SimpliSafe was to avoid paying monitoring fees, but that was not the case. We were not really happy with it. We'll wait too long to install it. It was not that easy to use.

    Sensors weren't as easy to place as many other reviews led me to expect. I had to work with customer service to place three of the door and window sensors properly, and they sent me new double stick tape for a couple that I had to move a few times. The image sensor has a lot of false alarms due to sunlight coming into the room. It seems to be a shortcoming of this type of sensor, but if I cant rely on it to work in a room with windows what good is it? Recent panel update seems to have made the arm/disarm commands respond extremely slowly which is problematic if I don't have my phone to disarm remotely.
    Customer service is very courteous and professional, even if they can't always resolve the problem to my satisfaction. The monitoring service is very good, calls very quickly when the alarm is triggered as well as calls when you arrive home after an alarm was triggered to make sure everything is ok in the house.

    Just Don't Do It!  They have faulty equipment that will give you a false alarm.  We have replaced equipment on a regular basis. Our first "free" false alarm with the City of San Francisco was wasted when their garage door sensor malfunctioned and sent an alarm.  Since we were out of town we had them send the police.  Their alarm notification system is not fully explained and not flexible.  In fact, it is farmed out to another company.  When I asked them to call the other person on the account to make sure it was not a false alarm they simply called the police. That was a $100 false alarm fee from the city because they neither called the other person as I asked nor told me that their only choice was to call the police or not.  It's up to you to decide if there is really a problem or that their equipment has simply malfunctioned again.  Unfortunately, we are in contract for three years and there are big penalties to get out so we are stuck with a system that gives less peace of mind than we had before we had any system at all.  All we can do is warn other people - Just Don't Do It!

    I had purchased the deal through Angie’s List.  I have already paid for 12 months of service.  Now they want to charge me $559 to cancel the service.  They did not make the cancellation fee clear.

    They were great! It went fine. They arrived on time and did what they were supposed to do. The guy they sent out was nice. There were no additional fees for the initial service. I have recommend them.

    I decided to work with Northwest security because their monthly monitorinf fees were much more reasonable than ADT. I had a good feeling about the company after talking to them on the phone. This was reinforced after the installer Steve Nielson did the work. They returned to change our phone line, and again the work was great. The original work was in November 2012.

    Mr. Peters showed up same-day (a Saturday) to fix a faulty dimmer switch in our tenant's apartment. He provided me a detailed explanation of the issue and the repair and offered his advice on several other small issues around the house, including a potentially dangerous short in a desk lamp as well. He ensured that our smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in both units were up to code. I definitely appreciated his availability, promptness, and professionalism.
