    ABBEY CARPET CO
I had a difficult time convincing the salesman my dimensions were correct. I actually made two separate trips to the store spaced well apart in the hope a of getting a different salesperson. I was resolved to get the carpet for my sons play room so I armed myself with photos and dimensions. It wasnt until the delivery occurred that the error was discovered. The delivery guys knew the error was the salesmans - he hadnt even asked me what color to bind the carpets in but chose black on a tan and brown pattern. The installers took the carpets away to be reordered and remade. I didnt hear back to confirm this was the plan so I followed up with several voicemails and emails. Two weeks later, I finally got a call from the belligerent owner after I emailed Id just rather have my money back. It was one of the worst phone calls Ive ever had. He was set against me from the start and although he asked for my side of the story he kept interrupting and berating me. After being thrown under the bus and driven over and back I canceled the order to which they are keeping the cancelation fee. From other reviews I should have known better than to even enter the building.

    JZ Star Flooring Services
I'ma real estate investor -- mostly in California -- but now starting in S. Florida. I have worked with many contractors over the years -- and JZ Star Flooring rises to the top. Jaime was always super responsive -- and regularly checked to see how I felt the project was progressing. I had just bought a condo in Brickell/DownTown Miami -- and wanted the carpet replaced with large white porcelain tiles. I also wanted a bar area tiled -- and found the textured tile I wanted there first -- so then was on the hunt for that particular white that complemented the bar tile. Jaime was incredibly patient -- taking me to his showrooms, bringing me large tile samples from various other showrooms in the area and even checking some of the big box stores for me. At last he found what I wanted -- from Spain. I live in a high rise building with super strict requirements on when a contractor could be there, how they entered the building, their own building engineer had to sign off on the soundproofing and installation -- this in addition to the City of Miami. Jaime master coordinated everything and handled the paperwork for me. I had to go back to California -- and 1 1/2 weeks later I came back to Florida with the condo tiled. What sets Jaime apart is the follow through. After the work was "done" -- there's always a snag list. He sent his employees immediately to clear all of the items.

    Milan Construction Inc
The project went excellently! The work exceeded expectations and it was on budget and within schedule. Milan made several recommendations that greatly improved the final product (e.g., open concept, structural suggestions, etc.).

    Just Hardwood Floors
The quality of their work was outstanding and exceeded my hopes and expectations. Previous attempts at fixing the damaged area had only made matters worse. In contrast, when they were done, the refinished work blended into the surrounding areas flawlessly. They have obviously experienced every conceivable hardwood flooring problem and project. They were a pleasure to work with---they wanted to helpfully and honestly share their expertise, and they treated my home as if it were their own. Not only was their work better than I had hoped; it was completed faster than expected. From my first call to them, through estimate, to job completion, they followed up on every point on a timely basis, as they said they would. All this service came at a very fair price. I will never use anyone else for a hardwood flooring project again.

    Gabriel Mena Construction
I had a very strange experience with Gabriel Mena. For the vast majority of my interactions with him, I would rate him as professional, helpful and competent. However, when I asked for a small document several months after the work, he completely and willfully ignored me. This was incredibly aggravating, unprofessional, and I warn all potential clients to be aware that he may ignore you entirely after the work of a project is over. The full story is below: I had a water leak from my washing machine on my condo on the fourth floor. After a very poor experience with the mold remediation/air testing teams, I need a contractor to re-install floors and walls. After contacting two other contractors who didnt return any of my calls, I found Gabriel Mena on HomeAdvisor.com. He called me after I left a message for him, and said he could look at my condo that evening after work. During this period, he was relatively responsive and was helpful when I got a chance to talk to him face-to-face. He quoted me a price within a week, and I gave that price to my insurance provider, USAA. They said that the estimate was high, and so they sent an adjuster to inspect the unit. After another few days, the estimate was revised down from ~$60,000 to ~$40,000. Other than this small delay, I found Gabriels communication to be good. My insurance company was giving me a hard time, so I decided to pay out-of-pocket for all the repairs, and Gabriel required that I pay him in installments for the work. This was a slight hassle for me having to come up with the money every couple of days, but not a big deal. During the work, he did a good job scheduling around my and my tenant/roommates schedule, given that all the furniture needed to be out of the room while putting in the floors. The work itself was of high quality, and 4 months later, all the floors and walls are still in good-as-new condition. The only issue at this time was in paying him my second to last installment: I was cobbling together the $$ to pay him, and so a $13,000 installment check bounced. He said it bounced, and so I wrote him a new check a few days later. However, his bank tried to *re*-withdraw the original check 5 days later, which charged me an overdraft fee, and then the second check cashed, and so I had overpaid. We spent about a week trying to figure out the payment, but eventually both checks cashed into his account, and he paid me the remainder. Up until this point, I would rate Gabriel 5/5 stars. He did the work efficiently and with great care towards my schedule, and when there were issues, we resolved them in a reasonable way. Things went downhill several months later. Because I had paid out-of-pocket, my insurance company was reimbursing me directly. After a long battle with my insurance, they finally wrote me a check in mid August (for money I had paid in May). However, federal insurance regulation mandates that the check be written out to the homeowner AND the mortgage company. To get the mortgage company to sign the check, they require an adjusters worksheet from insurance and a *certificate of payment and completion* from the contractor. I had not received this document from Gabriel after the project, so I texted him, asking if he could send that my way. He responded promptly Yes, and when I asked when I could expect the document, he said By today.. Three days later, I had not received the certificate. I texted him on Monday for an update, and got no response. I texted him (politely) for the next few days, and received no response. I finally called him two weeks after the original text, and he responded Can I call you later?. I said Yes please! Have you been getting my texts?. This was the last time I heard anything from Gabriel Mena. I tried texting him and calling him every day for about two weeks, and didnt receive even a single word of response. I thought maybe it was an issue with his phone, so tried e-mailing him, and submitting a request through his website. I assumed he was actively choosing not to respond to me at this point, but just to test, a few weeks later, I had my girlfriend call and text him, without referencing me. Just like that, he calls her back the same day. She was uncomfortable picking up and asking about my certificate, so I had her text him to call my number. At this point he begins ignoring her as well. Keep in mind that all of this was to get a simple signed document saying I had paid all the money and his signature. It wouldnt have taken him more than 10 minutes to produce. Finally, I just submitted a partial receipt I had gotten early in the project, and it turns out my mortgage company didnt check enough to even notice it was partial and that it didnt say work is complete on it, so it turned out I didnt need the document at all, but that doesnt change the fact that a contractor I had pleasantly worked with for a month, willfully ignored my repeated requests for a simple document for a month and a half. I will not be working with Gabriel Mena again, and I recommend to anyone reading this that they avoid him as well.

    SOD Builders
Luxcess Home by SOD Builders was incredible!!!!!! We hired them recently to remodel our entire house. All of the workers, painters, carpenters and office staff were true skilled, experienced and professional people and very hard working people. We had several problems that raised up after the work was completed and we moved in. the problems were reported to the office and they sent the people to fix all the problems. We highly recommend them to everyone AND we will hire them again without any doubts. Its not a secret that there are so many companies out there that customer service is not the main priority for them while Luxcess Home by SOD Builders is a company is a company that care very much about their clients satisfaction!

    Jack Thompson
Jack was awesome, and I'd recommend him without hesitation to anyone I know needing remodeling work. I was moving into a home that had not been well cared for, with a lot of non-standard elements. The biggest parts of the job were: skim coating all the walls and ceilings and repainting, taking down a large mirror wall, replacing the flooring in two rooms and installing radiant heat, and updating the circuit panel. I also had the fireplace surround replaced, replaced all light fixtures (including outdoor) and all door hardware, and a lot of small things. First: the price was fair. The estimate was about what I expected, and the areas that were higher were well explained and understandable. My quote was done by line item so I could prioritize and remove things to stay within my budget. Second: The work was very high quality and there was great attention to detail. I'm a designer and I sweat the small stuff, and so did Jack. I had flooring quotes that were cheaper because they had shortcuts, Jack made sure everything was done to high professional standards (my heated floors will last) and explained everywhere we had to adjust the plan to get things up to code (had to move the circuit panel out of the closet.) Third: Jack was flexible. I had an unusual situation where the seller didn't move out of my house. This delayed all the work quite a bit and made my own timelines less flexible than I would have liked. Jack was super easy going about it and worked around my crazy schedule to get everything done on time. He helped make what was an incredibly stressful time for me a lot less stressful. Last: Jack's communication is great. This is my first time doing a remodeling project which means I don't know what to expect, and constantly have a lot of questions. Jack answered all of them patiently and made sure I knew what was going on the whole time. Jack was great to work with and I definitely hope to work with him again when I remodel my kitchen and bathrooms. He's easy going and cares about quality. I can't recommend him enough.
