Tooth Extraction reviews in San Francisco

    James Ho DMD
I was referred to Dr. Ho by my general dentistry practitioner for evaluation of a painful molar that had a temporary crown on it. I've been to him before for similar evaluations of other teeth and he was as thorough and professional as always this time. He went through the various tests used to diagnose the cause of the pain: exrays, cold sensitivity, pressure, etc. In the end he recommended the placement by my general dentist of the permanent crown and a wait and see period to determine if any more intervention or root canal was necessary. I appreciated the fact that he didn't rush in and do a root canal but instead recommended a recovery period to see if things would settle down since there was no obvious root issue involved at this time. Overall a very satisfactory experience.

I have been going to him since 1978. He is very professional and a good dentist. He doesn’t hurt when he does it and he does a good job. Anything he has ever done to me I never had any problems or issues with or I never had to go back. Sometimes he pretty busy and it’s hard to get in. He will be my dentist till he retires.

I adore him. Unfortunately I had a dental problem and I spent more time than I would like to think about in his chair over the last six months. I had 3 root canals and crowns placed on all those teeth. The office staff is very friendly and helpful; they are very bright. I schedule my appointments when I finish one. He only works on Thursdays but there are other dentists in the practice. I think I could get in very quickly if I had a problem. It is too expensive but it is the going rate. I had no problem with the way they worked on my teeth and it went quite well for all the crap that had to be done. The staff is very responsive and helped me out with a problem with the insurance. I will use them again and I sent my husband to them.

He is awesome. He spends a lot of time with me and I don't feel like I am rushed. He sits down and really gets to understand if I have any concerns about my teeth. He does a really thorough exam and we talk about any problems or anything I need done. About two years ago I had trouble with a tooth and he did a root canal on it. It was a real hairy root canal and he told me upfront that it wasn't going to be the most pleasant thing I'd gone through and that he was going to try to make it as easy as possible. It really wasn't as bad as he made it out to be. He was very upfront about it and wasn't trying to keep anything hidden. His availability has always been wide open and I know that he is looking for more clients. His office is very professional and it is in a beautiful part of downtown San Francisco. It is easily accessible and it is right by the financial district so it is by my old office. They are always waiting for me and I've never had to wait. The staff is the nicest folks ever. They hug me when I go in. They call ahead of time and tell me that they are looking forward to working with me so he has the operation down pretty pat. He is a great communicator. They send a postcard. If they do any major work they will call the next day to see how I am doing. Everything he had done for me has been great. I have really good insurance and I've not have any problems with the billing.

    Growney Jr, Dr. Maurice R
Dr. Growney has been my dentist for 40 years. I am a white knuckle person n the chair and he is the reason I keep going back to him. He has a great personality and keeps me at ease. I do not have to sit long in the waiting room.

Two years of pain...and fees. When I tried to get copies of my records to report her to the dental board she refused to give me a copy of my medical records (she used the excuse that she didn't have enough office staff). HIPAA law requires that she provide a copy. I offered to pay...I gave up trying

    Brown, Dr. David
A root canal is a long procedure, so it was uncomfortable in that way, but not at all painful. Dr. Brown is very funny, personable, extremely gentle and concerned. He explained all my options before proceeding, explained what was on the x-ray, told me exactly what to expect, how long it would take, etc. He was constantly checking to make sure I was doing okay while he was working. He even called the next day to make sure I wasn't in pain or having swelling (which I was not). I recovered quickly and without any trouble. That tooth is no longer a problem. I had a follow-up appointment two months later to make sure the bone was repairing itself, etc. and it's fine. I had another root canal done about 15 years ago by someone else and it was torture. Wish there was an Angie's List back then so I could've had Dr. Brown fix it up instead. Dr. Brown is definitely the guy to see. His assistant is also wonderful and kind. His receptionist is friendly and helpful on the phone and in person. And, the view from his office is fantastic! :-)

Oral Surgery at Buchanan Dental Clinic
I've been going here for 20 years and I have been very satisfied. They have been great. It is a dental school and it is all international dentists that are getting ready to set for their US dental studies. They are very good if you need to finance something and they work with you. They can always get you in if it is an emergency. I think their prices are like 80 percent of the cost. They take insurance. It is a teaching school so you always get a variety of opinions. You have top-notch professors there. I can get a lot of work done in one day. Buchanan is fantastic. They have done root canals and bridgework. I've had teeth pulled and fillings. I've also had cosmetic work done and there was one guy that was brilliant. The professor always comes by and checks the work. It is quite an amazing process. It is a big teaching room but there is still privacy. They are excellent at punctuality. I feel like I am seeing friends when I go there. I?ve had outstanding care. Going to a teaching school has been very beneficial and they have to take people that are lower income. They are up on the newest things. The parking can be a real pain in the neck. They called the other day to check in and I haven't been there in months.

He is the best dentist in the world. He gives excellent service and he's a real good guy. A lot of his clients have gone through downsizing and lost their insurance and he invites them to come back and he will set up payment plans and work with his clients. My job was eliminated and he was really concerned that I would go without dental care, which was very nice. He has done a root canal and fillings for me. He is just awesome. His staff consists of the friendliest little gals ever.

I am terrified of dentists because of a bad experience as a kid, he is really nice and totally understands how paranoid I am. He is a really good dentist. He seems to be up to date with everything and he keeps in touch with all the latest technology. I like him because he has a nice mannerism about him, especially considering how paranoid I am about dentists. He's a real down to earth, nice person. He is very professional and knows his stuff. He has been in the industry for years, his father was a dentist too. They worked together until his father passed away. He's just an all around nice person who has been practicing in the area for 20 something years. He is very out going and sociable; he takes time to explains things to you, too. I recently found out he does implants, he is training with someone right now. I believe he also teaches at a medical center, as well. He unfortunately canceled two of my appointments this month due to emergencies, but he called and was very nice. They are always very punctual and the staff seems to be great. I originally went to see him for a touchy issue with my tooth and he sent me to a wonderful oral surgeon for a procedure. I appreciated that he was looking out for me and advised me to take care of the situation.
