  • The day they were scheduled to come out I received a call at the top of the visit window and was asked if I could reschedule as they had run into difficulty on another job and it was taking longer. I can appreciate that and I was able to accommodate the change so I have no problem with that. We scheduled for the next day and they arrived at the very top of the scheduling window. Mitch and another individual provided the service. They did a thorough review of all the areas of concern I was provided a quote that had several options. I approved the work although I realized the price was high. Because they seemed so qualified, had a lord of good reviews and I did not want to go through the extra hassle of finding another pIumber I went ahead with the work. The work was excellent and I am very pleased with it as I am pleased with the courtesy and professionalism I experience. All work was covered under a five year warranty for parts and labor. I did read reviews that indicated the prices were out of alignment but I went ahead and I approved the quote and allowed them to do the work so ultimately it is my my bad. only after that I realized how much I felt I was overcharged for this work. I am embarrassed by my lack of research. Well, live and learn

  • Your review for Brinks Services is now live! Tom L. Tom L. My wife and I recently sought Brinks Services in an effort to locate and fix a gas leak. Our initial experience was quite good and we were ready to sign up for the repair work. However, that is when things went wrong. The contract that Brinks initially sent to me was illegible as to the fine print of the contract. I then requested a larger version to hopefully allow me to read the fine print and this was provided to me promptly. Unfortunately, that is where I found that the language of the contract called for us to agree to defend and indemnify Brinks &/or it's subcontractors from "any and all damages, personal injury and/or property claims that arise as a result of Brinks...and/or its subcontractors performing any service pursuant to any contract between Brinks ... and myself". This makes the homeowner liable to defend Brinks and it's subcontractors from any and all claims. When I attempted to speak to my representative about my concerns that Brinks would not stand behind its work, he initially indicated that he could not make any change to the contract, but indicated that I could speak to the owner. However, the owner never called and refused to discuss the matter with me. In most cases, this would not be a problem. However, if there was any accident in which Brinks was sued for the work that they performed at your house, then you are risking having to incur legal fees and possibly damages to defend Brinks in that claim or lawsuit. This was too big a a potential liability for me and Brinks made it clear that they were unwilling to discuss their business practice. If you choose to select Brinks to do work for you, I would recommend that you look very carefully at any paperwork submitted to you by Brinks to make sure that it is not only legible, but also does not contain this unlimited indemnity agreement. I cannot imagine any attorney agreeing to allow you to sign such a contract. I also doubt that your property insurance carrier would agree to this language as well. Buyer beware! Add to list Edit

  • Estimate given by field tech, approved over the phone as it was time sensitive work. 20 minutes later, after giving billing information, the estimate went up by close to 15%, for permit fees (that I asked about during initial estimate, was told weren't needed). Agreed to additional permit fee, with the understanding that it would be for the fee only, no markup. Technician agreed, work was to start ASAP. Unfortunately I wasn't told that the tech would instead leave to work another job. Job was eventually completed a few days later, work done was technically correct. Then it got even more interesting. Was told I would be billed when all work completed on morning of last day scheduled. Instead there were multiple attempts to charge my card the night before, for considerably more than the agreed amount, with no final invoice presented. Fortunately, as the company looks to be based in Phoenix rather than here in San Diego, that triggered a fraud alert, card cancelled. It took another two days to get all to agree to the original (already increased price) quote, and it's my opinion that I would have had no chance doing so if the late night charge attempt had gone through. Communication with the billing person was fine, however the site supervisor was argumentative. Final issue was a 3 page "terms and conditions" document - sent after the work was done - that had a clause stating clients can't post reviews (like this one) without their approval. Of course, that's not right or legal, and I informed them of that, no response. Short version? In the end the work was done, but it cost more than agreed, with more hassle than needed. Be sure to get a written quote/estimate, with all terms and conditions spelled out, and don't provide credit card information until the job is done.

  • I chose to call United Plumbing Heating Air & Electric, as I had a good experience with a smaller job in the past. I had two(2) jobs, one Electric and the other a Gas line move. In both cases the individuals assigned arrived as expected, and came up with even better solutions to the problem than the original bid discussion. The Electricians worked efficiently, and met all of my needs and made sure that if was code compliant and pointed out and replaced a corroding braker that I had not known about. The Gas line crew included Mark in a Journeyman supervisor role and Jessie doing excellent work. All above "just getting the job done." Mark was clear on code compliance and Jessie worked with an upbeat attitude and care for details. Thank you all the way around.

  • Nate was thorough and professional. He arrived on time and communicated clearly with me about the possible gas leak. He showed me all the connections that he checked and that all was safe. I am very grateful for the prompt and courteous service!

  • The plumber was punctual, courteous and friendly.  I asked him to replace an approximately $30 gas valve that would be compatible with a newly purchased gas stove.  I refused his first quote of $588 and he then dropped his quote to $375.  He spent about an hour on sight.
I subsequently called SDGE as my wife thought she could smell gas.  The gentleman from SDGE found a gas leak at the base of the new stove where the Assure plumber had failed to properly tighten a gas hose.  The leak was identified by simply spraying a soapy water solution on the fitting and observing bubbling due to the gas leak.
I asked the gentleman from SDGE what he would have charged for replacing the gas value.  He estimated $125.  He then secured the gas leak and re-lit the pilot light on our gas water heater....all at NO CHARGE.
In summary, Assure plumbing overcharged for their services and left me with an active gas leak.  I wish I had secured a few independent quotes for the work prior to hiring Assure plumbing.  I will NOT be using their services again.

  • Update: March 24, 2015

Job done in about 9 weeks, mind you entire 2600 sq ft place done up on flooring,  2 1/2 bath updated, kitchen remodeling, knocked down a wall, electrical wirings, rerouting of gas line just to name the big stuff. Honestly there were some time hiccups BUT those ones were not in GW's control . Stuff like permits and inspections from City Hall that delayed maybe 2 weeks of the entire project . Good communications with Matt enabled this to happen and of course the team who works with Matt too , Albert 's motto is " I won't do to your house what I won't do to mine " - I actually miss the guys coming over  :) oh and I have updated the quality from B to A  ( from my preliminary review of GW )

We were given choices of places to chose our materials  ( granite top ) kitchen and bathroom tiles , etc etc these guys don't just stop at HomeDpot ( nothing against Home Depot / Lowes etc ) and have other venues they source for quality materials at reasonable pricing. I chose a granite countertop, needed 2 pieces as we have a new island in the kitchen remodeling only to have Danny come back to me asking if we can go over the choice. It turns out The Manufacturer was not able to give us 2 pieces of granite in the same shades ( same stuff but stocks varies ) but GW wanted to ensure we are getting countertops that we would be happy with . So Danny took me to another place, and we chose something else , it did cost more  ( workmanship / full slabs of granites needs cutting ) but we were happy to pay for it. And GW shared the extra cost with us. They were pretty serious on helping us keep our budget .  This is just one of the things about them.

Half way into the job , more problems came about - floor uneven ( we are on a slope ) mold in the bathroom - it was a total nightmare to us as new homeowners, mentally and financially . GW to the rescue, of course we need to pay extra to get things right, but again they did not overcharge, even when Matt had the liberty to squeeze us (at that point we are at his mercy ) he did not. Love him for that !

We had chosen really beautiful tiles for the shower room floor . Unfortunately it's a disaster because no caulking was holding the tiles in. After numerous times re-caulking ( around 5 times ) these little tiles still pops up: (Matt did not leave us in the lurch, we did establish how the tiles are  (shallow tiles hardly stay on the floor ) and not the person caulking them in . Instead though the job is done, Matt is still working on resolving this with the manufacturer and looking at reinstalling the tiles.

Kitchen cabinets  : kitchen is done but Matt is still fussy on making sure the trimmings set , all panels has soft closing , all the small aesthetics that was missed out on . Actually it is stuff that we didn't notice unless being told but the Matt still sends the guys over to fix these small stuff.  He is irritatingly a perfectionist ! :)

Love the new hardwood flooring installed. Neat handy work :) if Angie's List allows me to post pictures, I would definitely share our choice of flooring here. Matt did assured us many times the type of glue they use is not the cheap ones and we believe him because he does after job checks too.

Did I also mention how clean the guys power wash and scrub our 27 year old roof? we had a leak somewhere and had engage GW to fix and retile the roof. It changed the entire outlook of the house its like its totally new .

Now that the big part of the job is complete, we are planning on saving for the small things  - changing of window frames/ sliders , installing solar panels . Will definitely engage the GW guys for the jobs  :)

This company is all about details and perfection. Quality listed B is only because the remodeling is not yet completed, but I want to share reviews with others who may be looking for a dependable contractor. My husband and I had several bids for a total remodeling job (kitchen, master bath, everything including the stairways. ) GW is not the cheapest but they are certainly affordable for their expert advice on things such as building permits and design suggestions. We were closing on deciding another contractor ,This is a major decision for us which required lengthy discussions and budget counting but Matt , with his confidence and assurance changed our minds on the spot.

He is very on the ball , he took us wood floor hunting on the day itself  after meeting us. All we needed to do was show him a sample wood floor color and he knew what we were looking for. Work has started for just a week (demolishing and wall patch and paint ) but GW 's guys are amazing. The team cleans up really well after demo , good communications between the guys and the team supervisor. The kitchen remodel design was presented to us in a 3D graphics, this really help as its hard to visualize! Along with the design planning GW gives advices through their years of experience. Things such as position of lighting in the bathroom mirrors to not accentuate eye bags, bath tub heights consideration for age groups etc .

GW works in within the budget given, plenty of options for materials and stuff as they have wide network whom they regularly work with. We have done most of material purchases together with the project supervisor and they don't get a cut from materials, they cost the same to them as to us. Matt don't nickel and dime , in fact his company is pretty flexible and generous.

We found GW through my husband's office review network (Qualcomm) and these guys came highly recommended. Choosing them for our house remodeling project was definitely the best decision made for us in our house project. We just wished for them the past reviewers in the office forum is linked to Angie's too! These guys goes the extra mile and more for sure.

Our house remodel isn't complete yet (been just 1week) these guys aren't wasting anyone's time that's why they deserve my review right up !

I can go on and on about them , both my husband and I are just glad we got the GW team on our backs no regrets getting them to do our place up.

Key point is, GW may not be the cheapest around but they are certainly is not the most expensive they are reasonably priced . We still have small stuff to fix like changing windows to double panel we will definitely come back to Matt and Albert for this.

  • ,First of all, there is a gas leak at the hot water heater, and the Anderson plumber did not carry a gas sensor with him. Green gel was all he had to test.  My house inspector had a meter and it clearly made loud beeping "gas is present" noises. I do NOT have a leak at the main meter.
There are lots of issues with the plumbing at this old house but the Anderson plumber didn't inspect the house plumbing. If he had looked at all of the systems, carried the appropriate tools and quoted a reasonable price, Anderson would have had a customer --- But he did not.  Come on?no gas leak and wanted $200 to tighten the line which wasn't leaking anyway. And DID NOT find the actual gas leak ---- yikes!!!
Definitely, NOT going to call this group again.

  • This job went better than I could ever have imagined was possible. Dan  Nesovic is the perfect contractor: he has been in the business for 30+  years, he really knows what he is doing so his pricing and time-line are completely reliable, he has established long-term relationships with  craftsmen and suppliers of the highest caliber, he has his customer's  needs at heart and does not lead them to do any unnecessary work or  engage in unnecessary expenditures.

He is very calm, very professional, very knowledgeable, punctual, and holds himself and everyone who works for him to a high
    standard.

Once I met Dan, I didn't bother to interview other kitchen remodel contractors. His approach was perfect. He is a good listener
and has remodeled so many kitchens that he can visualize whatever it is that you want. He is willing to answer questions and find answers as needed. Everything he told me about the design and the costs was accurate. He has a carpenter/remodeler who works for him and then he brings in specialists for many of the parts of the job. Every specialist he brought in was someone I would have
hired myself. Each of them was professional and did outstanding work.  Dan himself came by every day to check on the work.

I am extremely happy with the new kitchen. Indeed, having found Dan, I  seized the opportunity to also remodel my bathrooms 8 months after the kitchen was finished.

I recommend Dan unconditionally. He is first-rate,
top-notch. Honest, straightforward, very experienced. Trust him, he
    knows that he is doing.

  • We have used Assure a few times now and they have done a great job.  They have repaired our shower leak and installed several new faucets.  Their people are all very professional and a pleasure to work with.  I would use them again and recommend them to others.
