    The Mahogany Shop Inc.
Excellent customer service. Keenan was very professional and listened well to my requirements. His response was excellent and timely. He was also great when I came back and explained I had made a measurement mistake and I needed him to rework a piece he had already done for me. I am very satisfied with the Mahogany Shop, and you will be too!

    Dream Cabinets By Stan
This review is for the contractor Stanislaw Ziolkowski Lic# 618636 When he comes to your home for estimate, do not give advance deposit unless you are really sure to get the work done from him after looking through the reviews and comparing him to other contractors offers. Which should be the right way to choose the contractors anyway, remember how do you know your contractor is going to really work nice? Web site or references? CSLB recommends 10% of final amount and no more than $1,000 as the deposit. [*** Link removed ***] I made a mistake of giving more money as deposit, as I trusted word of some other pretty credible contractor who "highly recommended" Stan to me. I called Stan the same day of my intention to cancel the contract (by that time he already encashed the check), he asked me to think for couple of days and decide (per cslb contracts can be canceled within 3 days, if contract is signed at your home). That was the last call he answered. I took one more day and called him to cancel, couldn't get to him, so I just texted formally about cancellation and he confirmed with reply telling he will refund the money. This was his last text reply. He stopped responding to my calls/texts over 2 weeks now. Incidentally Stan is also not responding to the contractor who recommended him to me. I also made a mistake of giving him a cabinet drawer to see how is his work before I go full fledged refinishing, so I lost that drawer to him as well. The problem is, now there is no way of getting to him, since his address on the contract is his old address (Pamela Dr) and he has moved on. So I filed complaint with CSLB, lets see how it goes, I will update here once its resolved. CSLB also lists 2 more ways to recover the money, either by claiming the bond or by going to small claims court. I will also try to call the Bond company that shows on CSLB website. To go to small claims court I need to know his address. All these are hassles that I didn't anticipate, its a good lesson learnt since I would be double sure in future. So think twice or thrice before giving money to him since you will have no way of getting it back if he doesn't have any storefront or you wouldn't know his address. Since I couldn't get to him in any manner I did some research on his reviews, including this Yelp page, seems like the negative reviews on him are correct. Also Stan has a lot of phone numbers (2 on both his web sites each, 2 on his contract, many on his older companies) and a lot of companies over past. I had used the phone number on his web site which is 760-644-4930, this is not the phone number on his contract. Not sure who would actually plan to keep changing the names of the companies and their phone numbers like once or twice an year. I am sure he will have some new website and a new company name soon. Patio Furniture Refinishers
Our cast aluminum Woodard furniture came back as good, maybe better than new, with both new slings and new powder coated finish. And, at a fraction of the cost of new furniture. We highly recommend Patio Furniture Refinishers.

    Steve's Wood Studio
From start to finish, working with Steve was a pleasure. He is very responsive and accessible. He had me send him photos of the items and he sent me quotes based on the photos. The quotes were accurate and the price didn't change once he had the pieces of furniture in his shop. He works with a pick-up and delivery service that took extremely good care of my furniture. The refinishing work on all items was superb. The refinished furniture looks like new, with the wood looking rich and beautiful. I loved the fact that Steve is a master at what he does and so are his employees. I could feel the expertise, mastery, skill, and talent when I interacted with him and when I saw the finished work. When the dresser was returned the wonderful sliding door in the middle of the dresser no longer slid easily. Steve handled the situation by coming over himself, taking the piece back to his shop and fixing it, then bringing it back himself and making sure I was happy (I was). The problem was due only to one of the refinishing substances building up and drying a bit inside the sliding door area. Easily fixed by someone who knows what to do -- Steve's personal service and interest in customer satisfaction was evident.

    Whytes Antiques & Upholstery
Not well. Owner has not responded to email as of 8/20/2017. Details as follow: Purchased a $5K dollar bolt of Robert Allen / Beacon Hill upholstery fabric (Blush color 80% silk 20% linen blend--Pattern "Silky Strands"). Paid local company "Whytes Antiques" over $1K to upholster a Beacon Hill Sofa that my kitten had shredded. Sewing job was well done. Restructured tufts into channels that were beautiful. Took many months but I had specified "no hurry" so that is on me. Delivered sofa unwrapped and was surly when asked to cover sofa before moving it throughout building to my condo. Did set up nicely inside living space. Ended on friendly terms. Signed for item. Covered to protect from cat. Uncovered several weeks later. Sat on noticed scratchy feel to fabric. OMG. Whyte's Antiques DESTROYED a $5K bolt of fabric. It was 100% applied Backwards with the backside on the surface--explaining why the fabric did not have the subtle sheen and beautiful nuances that should be expected from this quality of fabric. Pursuing legal action if he does not respond with adequate solution.

    AAA Woodcrafters
It went incredibly well. Kevin came by, looked at and gave me an estimate of $1300 to totally repair and refinish it, or $600 just for the repair. I opted for the second. But he also cleaned it up, oiled it and polished it. It looks great! He is very knowledgeable, personable and easy to work with. I was delighted with the new look of the bench and know my granddad would have been very pleased! Thanks, Kevin. Someday, I'll work on the library table, too!

Keith did a terrific job. He was prompt, professional, effective, and easy to deal with. His turnaround time was surprisingly quick. The work wasn't cheap, but the pricing was definitely fair, given the quality and timeliness of the result.

    Salty Livin'
Terrible experience. The bed I ordered was a month late and the communication was the worst I've ever experienced. The company made minimal effort to keep me up to date with a time line of when the product would be finished and then when it FINALLY arrived they forgot the brackets, promising that they would come back to reinstall. That never happened. Don't bother with this company unless you want a serious headache. Also they claim to use reclaimed wood, they don't...

The Problem Solver : Timely & Simply Professional Solutions
Thomas and his crew tackled a massive and nasty cleaning job, requiring hazmat gear and many, many weeks of cleaning and disposal. They then had to strip away wallpaper and in some cases the sheetrock, cleaning out what was behind the walls. Then they did all the work needed to replace what they took out, painting and otherwise restoring. Same with the floors, which in some rooms had to be replaced. They tore out and replaced the shower stall and other plumbing fixtures in the condo, and helped my younger sister shop for and find the best value furniture and other fittings for the condo. Thomas went way way beyond what he was hired to do, providing transportation and advice for my more able sister, including emotional support and encouragement for her and my other sister and nephew. I especially appreciate his enthusiasm and straight talk when he called me with regular updates! My sister paid for his services so I don't know the final bill but I know she is very happy with the service and has relied on Thomas and his people throughout this project. I am grateful for Thomas because I have not been able to be there physically with my sisters and support them myself.

    The Mahogany Shop Inc.
I sent photos, as requested. The owner said he'd have to see the pieces and would contact me and come by the following week. He never called or showed up. I telephoned the beginning of the next week and left a message on his cell phone regarding this matter. It has been a week later and he still has not returned my call. I can't speak to the work this company does, but they are extremely unprofessional and unreliable.
