Basement Waterproofing reviews in San Diego

    County Wide Services
We hired CWS for mold remediation, wet insulation removal, new insulation and moisture barrier installation, and dry out of our crawl space in 2016. Initially we were positively impressed with the timely and clear communication of the Hodlin family who own and operate CWS. We were unimpressed with the recommended mold diagnostics consultant - Terry Asp - who is frankly a quack (waste of time and money). But we completed the aforementioned service through CWS subsequently. The entire service took approximately 6-8 weeks. Prior to completion we requested photos to document the work completed. The work was completed while we were out of town for a 2 day weekend. CWS began calling over the non-business day weekend demanding final payment. When we requested the photos of work completed, CWS denied our request and continued to demand immediate payment (still a weekend). We completed full payment without ever receiving photos. Flash forward to 2017, my husband entered the crawl space for the first time following CWS' "completed service" to discover that only HALF of the crawl space had an installed new insulation and moisture barrier. We were charged for the entire estimated square footage of our crawl space ($4611). The entire aforementioned service was significantly more expensive. After dozens of emails, texts, phone calls to Mark and Stephanie Hodlin and nearly 4 months time, we finally received a check for PART of the agreed upon HALF (LESS than the $2305.50). Mark charged us for $250 a "service call" in 2017 to remove wet "new" insulation and fix falling (failing) moisture barrier, all less than 1 year "old" from the 2016 CWS service. After documented voicemails stating Mark owed us HALF the $4611, he sent us $2305.50 LESS $250. He NEVER discussed a $250 charge for this "service call" which I inferred was a complementary service for an ineffective, poorly done original job. He repeatedly ignored emails, texts and voicemails reminding him to send our check for 7 weeks; and only sent the check for the incomplete amount after I mentioned involving a third party. We repeatedly provided CWS with patience, respect, and the benefit of the doubt over this 4 month period in 2017. They did not give us the basic leeway of 1 business day or photos of completed work before demanding final payment in 2016. CWS repeatedly treated us with disrespect by committing fraudulent work, avoiding timely communication, and engaging in dishonest and hypocritical behavior. CWS is highly unprofessional. I strongly urge anyone requiring mold remediation or crawl space services to look for a more trustworthy, professional, quality company.

    Dakini Engineering General Contracting
We met with Dana and I was immediately impressed with his promptness. His knowledge was even more impressive. He took the time to explain all of the issues that we were having due to the lack of adequate water proofing. He could have easily talked us into a very high priced solution to our water proof problem but instead, he gave us ideas to make our home ?water resistant?. Thank you Dana for all of your information!

    Drew Gardner Concrete & Waterproofing
It went great!  Drew and the crew were able to get everything installed and completed to code in about a day.  The crew were all very nice and went above and beyond to be clean and profession.  I would recommend them to anyone.

ADVANCED SYSTEMS BASEMENT & FOUNDATION REPAIR, INC
They give a 10 warranty and that is well worth the peace of mind especially since we plan to sell. Quick and efficient. Bob Sr. was the original contact 15 yrs ago. I was surprised to find that they still had the same phone number, Bob Jr took over the business. The only issue I had was a pricing problem as Bob Sr quoted us a price and gave my Dad a senior discount. The guy showed up to do the work and waited for 1 hr for the jr. to show up and see if that price was ok. We worked it out and is am a happy customer. They've been doing this over 30 yrs. highly recommend. Waited for over 2 weeks for another company from El Dorado but I had a bid from advanced in 2 days and work completed within 7 days. The work took less than 4 hours, day one and only 1 hour to inject the next day. Fast and courtesy. Would highly recommend. True professionals

    Ohio State Waterproofing
They came out and looked at the basement. My mother-in-law passed away and we were cleaning out the house to sell it. There were several small cracks in the foundation. They said they could fix it for $20,000.00. We gave them a deposit and several thousand dollars. We decided the house wasn’t worth it and to donate the house to habit for humanity. The company would not refund us the deposit. We called and explained we weren’t selling the house but donating it. They sent people out saying they were keeping the money and that we should not take them to court. They said if we took them to court we would definitely loose the court case. They were very threating over the whole situation. They are not a good company and I would never recommend them to anyone.  They are very unscrupulous and unethical company. It was a very highly emotional time for my family and they took advantage of my husband losing his only parent.

    Basement Detective
Basement Detective was extremely flexible during the estimation and repair process.  The property where the work was performed is currently a rental property, but I do intend on moving back into the home.  A poor initial design on the basement walkout drainage system meant every hard rain there was a significant risk of flooding the basement.  Basement Detective provided an effective solution to the problem and there have been several hard rain events, including Hurricane Sandy, to know that the solution works.  Nobody ever wants to spend money on basement waterproofing, but this fix was well worth the money.  I would definitely use them again for any drainage challenges in or around a home.

    Tafoya Construction
I brought in three contractors for bids on this project.  The bids ranged from $13,400 (Tafoya) to $26,000 dollars.

These guys are great.  They show up when they say they will, start work promptly, work hard all day, and clean up before they end the day.  This job involved moving plants, sprinkler piping, mulch, and dirt away from the house so they could hand-dig the trench beside the foundation.  They kept the moved plants watered and in good shape for the two-plus weeks it took to do the job.  When they finished, everything was back in its place.

Jorge and his team are very professional and know what they're doing.  There were no cost over-runs or hidden expenses.  As one would expect with an old house, once they dug down they found out there was no footing under the front porch steps, so they had to pour some concrete to support it and put up the waterproofing, this added $500 to the overall cost; which I thought was reasonable and acceptable.

Not only do I recommend Jorge, this is who I will turn to for all future construction/repair of my home.

    T F LARKIN INC
They did a terrific job. It’s a family owned business. The son came out and did the work. They were very precise. I would rate them high overall and would use them again in the future if needed.

    Cabrillo Craftsman
I originally hired Cabrillo for the excavation, concrete and framing work for our two story add-on. Derricks communication and service was always top-notch. Every other day he was giving us cost saving ideas...conscious of our budget. He does excellent quality, and has a good idea for detail. The framing and concrete were spot-on. This was a big project too involving a slab basement, 17x19 master bedroom...etc. It wasn't the plan but I ended up hiring him and his team for many other projects to get the add-on complete including waterproofing, plumbing, shower installation, windows, trim.... I already had others lined up for stucco and roofing, otherwise I'm sure he could have done it. I already have hired him again, so yes I would do it again.

    RENEW EXTERIORS INC
I am very pleased with all aspects of their work from prompt initial response to professional and detailed written estimate (the others just wrote a price on the back of their business card) to the completed job. From the outset, it was clear that Dave was interested in doing the job properly, including addressing waterproofing issues. They maintained contact, showed up when promised, did an excellent, careful and professional job, and cleaned up and hauled away their mess. This was a detailed job with a lot of corners (which are neat, even and square). The texture matches existing stucco perfectly.
