    California Smartscape
We are so pleased with our new backyard! We have so much more usable space, and less grass to water. Andrew was awesome to work with for the design aspect. Saul and his crew did an amazing job - hardest working guys I have ever seen. They demolished an existed cement patio, installed pavers, moved 2 big pygmy date palms, installed gas lines, put in new drip system, installed new sod. We had a few plants not make it and they were quick to get them replaced. We highly recommend California Smartscape and will use them again when we do our front yard.

In 2018, Alicia successfully completed a master suite design and remodel project for my home. It was the first major remodel in decades to a small 75-yr-old home. It was a big investment for me, so I met with 4 top design-build firms, where I met Alicia. I selected Alicia because she had years of experience creating both high end and modest projects, had an interest in small space design and tiny houses, and was enthusiastic and confident that she could find a solution for my design requests. During our designing process, Alicia was a good listener, extremely patient, and provided honest feedback with alternate suggestions. The final design had a modern look and function, yet blended well with the rest of the older home. Alicia designed every square foot, including ceilings and floors, in great detail. She translated my vague likes and needs into an open and expansive private suite. A year later, I am still amazed when I enter the new space, and friends and family still have high compliments for Alicias design. Recently, I asked Alicia to complete an exterior project. As expected, I had another great design experience with Alicia. She created a modern hardscape design for my neglected front and back yards. My entire back yard was a wasted space, and now is fully functional and easy to maintain. What a difference a professional and creative design makes. It added great curb appeal and value to my home.

    SAN DIEGO MASTER CRAFTSMEN
This extensive renovation began with various "baseline" objectives prioritizing structural integrity for my hillside home (strapping down all the posts and beams, reframing the roof, adding structural reinforcement where necessary and where required by current code, etc.). In time, the scope also included expansion of floor space. Throughout the entire process, Jon Hammer of San Diego Master Craftsmen was candid, transparent and willing to work closely with me on meeting my objectives. In short, I would describe him as someone many of us look for in a General Contractor: honest, responsible, creative and timely. More than anything, he listens to his clients, and tries to meet their expectations wherever he can. I am very satisfied, both with his responsiveness, and the quality of the work undertaken. The benefit of working with a design/builder like Jon Hammer is that he can look at a project and give you a good sense, ex ante, of what's involved, so you have a more accurate assessment of cost up front. Jon works closely with a seasoned team of sub-contractors and tradesmen. In my case, many of them were consulted in the design phase. In particular, we spoke at length with the engineers (I used structural, geotechnical and soil engineering services) to ensure the structural integrity of the renovation, and that it would meet all current codes. Jon talked me through these discussions in a very patient and comprehensive manner. I also worked with Jon's interior designer at this stage so that we could get a feel for end design requirements. During construction, Jon was very responsive and communicative. Our principal form of communication was by email, as I was living abroad at the time. But during my visits, Jon made himself freely available to meet with me, repeatedly and sometimes at the spur of the moment. I was always given a chance to provide feedback, every step of the way. Jon's sub-contractors did a superb job on the framing, masonry, plumbing and tile work. One important thing to keep in mind is that Jon directly assumes any responsibility arising from the work of the sub-contractors, occasionally at his own expense. The budget was a bit higher than initially forecast, due mainly to numerous enhancements identified during the course of construction (some of which were focused on meeting higher engineering standards). To Jon's credit, he provided me with full explanations of each change order, every step of the way. And he offered alternatives, which I appreciated. Overall, I have been very happy with the end results and would re-hire Jon for future work. Indeed, after this job, I hired Jon again to renovate my outside decks.

    Teknik Inc
The project went great! It was finished on budget and earlier than the contractual deadline. The work is beautiful and we are moving in now. From the foundation to the crown molding - every detail is in place. Kevin and his team are impeccably clean and take ownership of making our experience as smooth as possible. Kevin and his team communicated with us at each stage so we knew what to expect. Kevin also was at the job site every day which is so rare in this economy - many builders have lost the personal touch and it is so wonderful to know how much the owner cares for my family.

I hired this awesome company through a referral by my friends who also gave a smashing review. This company is stacked with talent with Jesse as my designer architect and Leo and Edgar's team as the executors. They earned the 5 stars with being on time, great communicators, prices holding up without changes and ultimately great finished product that matched the design to a "t". I highly recommend them, they made my landscaping dream come true, now we spend so much time back there.

    Sterling Design & Remodeling
The crucial first step in the complete remodel of our 1926 house was to locate the best company to carry out our project. We knew we wanted to preserve the extant Spanish Eclectic character of the aging house, but we also wanted to reconfigure the interior to reflect a more contemporary sense of openness and modern convenience. Ken Manchego of Sterling Design & Remodeling was the perfect fit for us. He immediately understood our vision for the house and the ideal path to realizing that vision and brought in the most appropriate and skilled designer, John Mills Davies ASID, to translate our vision into a set of plans that he and Ken could use to create our Dream Home. Because we were living in another part of the country, this remodel required constant detailed communication, which Ken cheerfully provided on an almost daily basis, getting our input on every detail and decision. We have lived in our beautiful home for almost a year and appreciate daily the extraordinary care Sterling Design & Remodeling provided to help us realize our amazing Dream Home.

    SAN DIEGO MASTER CRAFTSMEN
I contracted San Diego Master Craftsmen to build a MASSIVE deck onto the back of my house. I had preconceived ideas regarding aesthetics and materials. Thank God for John's wisdom and experience regarding all things construction. He made logical recommendations and suggestions that extended beyond my "limited" perspective and perception of what I envisioned the end result to be. What I was left with was a deck that should be listed in "San Diego Home and Garden Magazine". It was very intricate. John had to overcome hurdles such as an uneven slope of the property, and fabricating a way to cohesively tie in the deck to the existing landscaping. What he was able to accomplish was nothing more than miraculous. John suggestions not only saved me money (which proves his ethical business practices), but they were for materials that actually elongated the life of the deck, and gave it a richer, more luxurious look. Start to finish, the deck was done faster than predicted, and this was during the rainy season when delays seemed imminent. My wife and I couldn't be happier with the the service we received. Start to finish, John met every expectation. To say that he comes highly recommended by me would be an understatement. He is the BEST!

    Sterling Design & Remodeling
Sterling Design is an exceptionally well run company. From the first consultation to every step along the way Ken is right there with you to help you realize your vision, explain the pros and cons of various materials and the ins and outs of remodeling a home that was built in 1933. Thats right, my home was almost 90 years old. I was newly divorced and had bought my first home on my own. And I had never been involved in a remodel. I had heard all the stories from friends but nothing prepares you for the variety of potential hiccups when you start digging into a 90 year old home. That is except a good contractor. And this is exactly where Ken and Sterling Design and Remodeling shine. Ken hires workers with the right credentials and experience - people who show up on time and get work completed on time. Ken walks you through every step of the process. Ken consults and advises as various issues come to light. Ken problem solves with workers, coordinates time lines and supervises the entire process. And as the project comes to an end, Ken recommended subtle design elements which elevated my project from an "upgrade" to Wow. Since my work was completed, almost everyone who has walked by has commented how beautiful the property looks. I love to watch as people approach my home and stop for a moment to take in the design elements and then again as they pass by, to take one long look and appreciate all the small touches that just made my home exceptional. We have all heard the remodel nightmares from friends and strangers. And my project was not without the occasional glitch. This is where a contractor like Ken really shows what he is made of. Finding the new experts who can assist and to work them onto the schedule, work around all the other professionals that are already on the job. Coordinating that schedule and keeping things moving. Like most people my home is my biggest financial asset. And trusting my home to Ken was monumental. I can honestly say that the changes he made in my home were life changing for me. My home had become a place I am incredibly proud of. My property went from looking tired and old to designer and elegant. I have a patio and courtyard that has become the focal point of my entertaining and a quiet place where I relax most evenings. My remodel was a financially and emotionally significant experience for me. I am a first time home owner, single female with no construction knowledge or experience. Throughout the process Ken was my advisor and advocate. Since my project Ken has kept in touch to make sure there were no issues with any of the elements of the remodel and to assist me on occasion when I need recommendations for regular home repairs. I have repeatedly expressed to Ken that he is the best and that I would highly recommend him as an individual and his company for any project you have.

    Precision Home Design & Remodeling
Five stars customer service, Five stars workmanship ! For the past 5 years we were thinking about remodeling our kitchen. Two years ago we started collecting bids from improvement companies. we never thought that the hardest part is actually to choose the right company. Some companies were way too expensive, other were too pushy. When Precision Home Design & Remodeling project manager David came to bid the project we felt the connection right away, he wasnt pushy at all and he actually patiently educated us about the cons and pros of each different subject like Quartz or Granite countertop, the advantages of the pullout trash and drawers, he even helped us with choosing the right colors and design, It was worth while waiting two years! We are very picky with everything we do and it sounds crazy but we took at least 10 estimates! cost wise Precision were right in the middle and was definitely a good buy.
