Type 2 diabetes affects millions of Americans who aren't even aware that they have the disease. Often producing no symptoms at first, diabetes can cause serious health complications if untreated.

With diabetes, watch for these nerve damage symptoms

Diabetic neuropathy is a common complication of diabetes caused by chronically high blood sugar levels in the blood. What is neuropathy and its symptoms, and how can this nerve damage be prevented and treated?

How diabetes affects your feet

If you have diabetes, high blood sugar levels can cause nerve damage and poor blood flow in your legs and feet. As a result, you need to be aware of diabetic foot problems and good foot care.

Don’t let diabetes control you

It takes a lot more than medicine to control diabetes. Endocrinology specialists work with patients to change behavior.

San Antonio Diabetic Doctors Reviews

A
"The clinic is huge--lots of patients and doctors--so it's a little crowded and loud. People rushing around the hallways. That could be a recipe for disaster, but the operation runs efficiently. There are times when my doctor is held up--even for an hour--but on this most recent visit, he was punctual. He's quiet, because he seems to be deep in thought. I get the impression he is searching his brain for all the best options for care. He will take time to answer questions and asks some himself. He personally walked me out instead of what most doctor's do--just assume you'll find your way down the hall to the right place to check out."

"Both Dr.

and his Nurse Practicioner are very good...if you can stand the wait! They will not schedule an appointment after 3 p.m., which means I have to take a 1/2 day off every time I have an appointment. This would be ok if I was actually being seen at my appointment time, but that is not the case. It is not unusual to wait over an hour in the waiting room before being called back to an exam room....only to have to wait some more. Once my medicine is regulated, I will most likely start going to my family physician so that I can get an appointment at a decent time without having to wait."

"The visit was fast. They have quite the patient volume and they are very efficient. They are real quick and very nice. If you need to get any more information you can ask them, they definitely answer questions and direct you to where you need to be. They are really good. The wait times can be long sometimes. They see a lot of diabetic patients so it is a really wide variety of things going on. They are extremely organized. By the time you come in, you are checked in, and somebody comes and gets information from you. After that it is a very short wait. You are in and you are out but you feel like you have been rushed through or that you have been sitting there forever. They have really good record keeping and they have very good call backs. The care is excellent as well."

"She is very knowledgeable about drug interactions. She is a good listener; takes good histories; very thorough when looking at bloodwork. She knows what she needs to do to tweak it to give me the best quality of life I can have. She makes sure their are no drug interactions. I have had no problems. The staff is very friendly. I do sometimes have to wait but not for very long, normal amount. I never have to wait 1/2 hour to an hour. I will go back as needed."

"I have been using him for about seven or eight years. I have been satisfied with the services that he has provided for me. In the last two years I have seen him physician’s assistant and she is extremely thorough and has a great bedside manner."

"This appointment is in about an hour and a half, but based on prior experience, I expect this appointment to go as well as my previous ones."

"I really liked him. I didn?t have to wait for a long time when I got into his office. Everybody at his office was very efficient. His staff was very friendly too. He is very knowledgeable and spent a lot of time in examining me, as I have diabetes. I was happy with the kind of care that he provided. I didn?t feel rushed too and so far, I

"Dr.
San Antonio Diabetic Doctors Provider Name Locked
recently was named endocrinologist of the year, for the second year in a row, by a local medical group, and it's no wonder. He's a wonderful, caring doctor who is patient and takes the time to really talk with you and explain complicated medical situations in terms the

can understand. He can get his point across kindly, even when you can tell he thinks you should be working harder to control your condition. I've been seeing him for a couple of years, since I was diagnosed, and I'm very happy with his services. The only complaint I have is that it sometimes takes an hour or so to get in to see him, but San

has a very high rate of diabetes, so this doesn't surprise me. The waiting area is pleasant, with a TV and magazines.
