Door Installation reviews in San Antonio

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • Taylor did a great job. He sanded, stained & sealed the door with several coats. Taylor even noticed that the edge of the door (where the hinges are attached) had apparently not been done well by the original installer so he also took care of refinishing and sealing that edge, something that could have gone unnoticed. He was easy to work with, he explained the entire process and he was polite & professional. I will definitely use Biggin's again. They also offer a very affordable maintenance program (every 12-18 months) which I intend to use. Our doors take a beating in the hot Texas sun but you would never know it after Taylor was finished!

  • Excellent. I was very pleased with my installer, Jake D. His ability and skill sets were inspirational. When I realized there was only one installer for my job I was concerned but Jake was amazing. His knowledge of installation, his professionalism and his strong work ethic was very pleasing and gave me confidence that I had made the right purchasing choice.

  • This is my third time to use Handyman Matters of San Antonio to repair & repaint damage (exterior door & frame repair and ceiling and wall repair due to water damage) done at my old house in central San Antonio. Each time the person doing work has been professional, shown up on time, and completed the work thoroughly and cleaned up thoroughly. Although their services are not cheap, they are reasonable and the quality of the work completed has been excellent. I will continue to use them when needed and recommend them to acquaintances.

  • Overpriced, I got two different estimates from other companies one I thought was too high and another that was too low. Looking at the reviews I thought that Alamo City Handymen LLC would fall in-between, but I was wrong! They were the highest price by a couple hundred dollars. Ended up doing most of the work myself, saved a ton!

  • *****Initial Call: discussed all the problems of the binding door, new threshold needed etc. He said he would remove the door, trim the bottom, install the threshold and adjust the hinge. He discussed $65 for the adjustments to the door plus parts which totaled approx. $120 per door for 4 total doors. *****Scoping visit: He showed up to do a walk through and measurements and his written estimate jumped $65 per door to charge for removing the door with no discussion. I asked why the extra charge and he said the service for each (the door and the threshold are $65 each). He never distinguished any price difference on the phone after a very detailed conversation about the problems. We decided to have him only work on the front door. *****The work: 10/2: When he showed up to do the work. He immediately needed to borrow an extension cord, and said he forgot to pack his stain to apply to the bottom of the door after the cut. I provided both for him to complete the job. It's my intent to work together and help this all be a success. After it started raining, I offered to let him work in my garage and helped him move the door in there and set it all up. I even provided towels to dry off the door. After the threshold was installed, he then informed me there was a gap between it and the flooring. I told Him I had trim and he said he would install it. No discussion of extra charges etc. Then he informed me he forgot to pack his other saw and wouldn’t be able to make the cut and would have to return. Again, no discussion of extra charges or problems. I asked him in the end to make it right. I have an incomplete project with a ¾” gap between the threshold and the flooring. He assured me I had a new threshold. He justified his stance by saying he can’t predict all outcomes and would have to charge me again if he had to return to place the trim because it’s not part of the project. I assured him I’m not a door expert and don’t know all the questions to ask but if it were a risk, he should have told me of that potential problem. I reminded him that he never brought up any extra charges till now. He then told me he should have charged me more for the work he did as a means to justify not putting in the trim. *****Additionally: I asked him to be careful with the doors and not to scratch them on the saw horses. He assured me they were covered with cardboard. The front of the door has two gouges from where they rested on the sawhorse. I had to ask him to fully seat the pins on the hinges because the one hinge he made adjustments to by pounding on it with a hammer, didn’t line up properly. ***** Summary: I rated quality a B since the threshold itself is installed well and the store swing and closes freely as I asked. What I wanted and asked for was for him to make it right and put the trim in as he said he would while working on the project. He told me he could do it when I call him back to do the remaining doors if his extra charge was an issue. Never would I have agreed to taking out the old threshold and installing a new one with a big gap. He should have made it right. I won’t call him back and I won’t recommend him to others. Lack of attention to details, inability to communicate well or manage expectations.

  • It was a very pleasant experience from the first sales appointment to the completion of the installation. the staff is very attentive and always kept me informed of the process. The new roof looks great. Excellent quality of materials as well as labor. 100% recommended.

  • Mr. Hector Castillo and Texas Green Remodelers did a master bathroom remodel for us. Mr. Castillo claimed he was licensed, insured, and bonded and that he would get the proper permits for the job. It turns out that he did not pull permits for the job as required by the City of San Antonio and he is not licensed with the city as a Home Improvement Contractor. Further, he won’t provide the license numbers of the plumber and electrician who did work in our home. The quality of the work is poor and he refuses to have the work done properly. The tile was not installed properly as it is very uneven, the grout is sloppy, and the grout lines are 4 times as wide as they are supposed to be. Tile installers who I’ve had look at the work have said that standard installation methods weren’t used on the wall tile. The shower door he installed leaks, plus it’s a lot shorter than what he was supposed to provide. The full list of problems with the work is too long to list here. Despite not having completed the work properly and not cleaning up the job site, Mr. Castillo is attempting to place a lien on our home. Run away from this guy and his company.

  • The work took a week. When Steven the carpenter came he was very freindly. My patio umbrella broke two days before, he took it home an fixed it on his on time and it works better than it did when I bought it. Steven replaced the back door an fixed the garage door. There was changes with the siding repair and some rooting behind the siding but Steven was willing to work with me and every thing turned out great. I will be using him again in the future.

  • General Contractor did not complete the work he was paid to complete for home renovation. About 53% of the project was completed and he has 95% of the money for the job. Project started in May and should have lasted at most 3 months. We are now at the end of September and have nothing but a mess at the home. I believe he owes us about $11,000. I also think he is running a ponzi scheme, where he never completes any job he signs up to do and then attempts to pay off the old "unhappy" customers with "new" suckers. We have not been returned any money. I have also asked for line item detail supporting his estimate of the unfinished work, but he has never supplied any information. I gave him a deadline to submit the information by Wednesday, September 26th at 5:00 pm. He never responded. We apparently are not the first people this has happened to and his license has expired. He probably works on someone else's license and under several business names.

  • Terrific! Our door looks brand new (even though it’s 16 yrs old). Taylor explained everything, provided us options and asked for our input. He even told us how to contact the hardware manufacturer to request new lock sets. I’d hire Biggins again in a minute. Veteran owned business too.
