General Contracting reviews in San Antonio

  • The owner, Richard Cavazos, was very pleasant and professional. He coordinated the various aspects of the project in an organized and timely manner. He ensured that I had chosen all of my colors, tile, countertop, appliances, lighting, etc. as they were needed for the project. All of the workers did high quality work including tape, float, texture and paint, tile work (flooring and backsplash), custom cabinetry, plumbing, electrical, rerouting AC ducts, countertop installation, and appliance installation. It was an expensive project, but they did a lot of work and I feel that It was a good value and I received a very high quality result. I would highly recommend Pride Floors and Construction.

  • Fantastic service, and even better quality. When Jeff (owner) came over to give me an estimate, we knew in the first 10 minutes that he wouldn't be getting the job (or so we thought) because he was booked on other projects and couldn't start for a few months. Jeff stayed and let me walk him through what I wanted to do anyways, and told me what to look out for with contractors as this was my first home purchase. I had set up appointments with other contractors, some of them from very large companies, and none of them impressed me the way Jeff did. Long story short, I decided to wait the 3 months, and hire Jeff anyway. You can tell right away if someone will be honest and true to his word, and that is what I got from Jeff. We did a full gut and remodel of the kitchen, new custom cabinets, new granite counter tops, new lighting, backsplash. Master Bathroom: removed a hall closet to expand the shower and add a bench, new frameless glass door, tile work floor to ceiling enclosed and expanded the master bath, new toilet, custom vanity and matching granite. Guest Bathroom: new tile above tub, new plumbing and fixtures, custom vanity, matching granite. We also had new laminate flooring installed throughout the house, and tile work in Kitchen, entry ways, and bathrooms. Overall, I could not be happier with the service I received. Between Jeff and his foreman, I always had access to discuss concerns or changes along the way. Any minor "flaw" was addressed immediately, and the finished product is phenomenal. Would I hire The Carpenters Hand again? Absolutely, I had him over this week to give me another estimate on a separate project. The Carpenters Hand is a fantastic company, run by an honest, straight talking man who really takes pride in his work. If you have any doubts on who to work with, give Jeff at The Carpenters Hand a call, and I promise, you will not be disappointed!

  • Renovate Paint & Design (RPD) did a fine job. Between the time we contracted with RPD and the star of work we found out that my wife would need hip replacement surgery and needed it ASAP. RPD pushed hard and got all the critical stuff done to make the MBR ready for us before the surgery date. Small problems always arise and RPD was quick to find work arounds when possible and otherwise resolved matters in a timely fashion. We hope to do our other bathroom in 2019 and RPD will be on our short list of remodelers.

  • It went extremely well. Excellent workmanship. Used latest materials under the floor planking to insure water proofing. Best materials used throughout. Cost of the project was satisfactory. Neighbors who viewed the construction have asked for estimates on work at their homes.

  • The Sales and Design Manager and the Company owner communicated very effectively with me to set up and provide a very competitive work estimate for my project. Once we agreed upon the work specs and cost, Charles provided a totally accurate overview of how the work would be completed, what materials would be used, as well as a timeline. The workers were very diligent, respectful and skillful. They worked hard and completed the project on a very timely basis. The product of their work was that the project was completed effectively and according to specs. I am very appreciative of the quality and service provided by Renovate Paint and Design.

  • Outstanding. Several individuals had responded to search for estimates. Only Mr. Mull provided a full detailed estimate. He and his team were punctual and professional. We were under a very tight timeline and not only did they complet the project as promised, it was beautifully done and one would not know it was a total replacement. The original build had not been completed to code and Mr. Mull ensured every detail was completed to specifications. Very detail oriented, Mr. Mull’s team cleaned the area at the end of each day and was conscientious of our yard and plants. I have had multiple projects done in the past five years, and Second to None Construction by far is the best. I intend to hire him again.

  • Due to a City of San Antonio road expansion project, I had to completely change the way I entered, parked and exited my personal vehicle onto my property. My present garage entry was no longer available to me. I now needed to have access into my garage from the opposite end of the garage building. Alamo City Handyman was paramount in helping me accomplish this multi-level goal. Dave successfully and smoothly coordinated this multi-phase project and cannot thank him and his company enough! Dave set up and provided an Electrician to install a new electrical outlet for the new garage door opener. The electrician arrived on time, he attached the long, electrical wire run neatly to the garage’s sheet rock ceiling, the newly installed outlet worked perfectly and he cleaned his work area nicely. Very professional job. Dave set up and provided the Construction Crew to make ready the garage wall (the opposite wall from the old garage door entry) for my vehicle’s entry, parking and exit. The tasks included; cutting out a 7 ft by 8 ft opening in the wall, supporting the opening with a new truss on the top and timbers on the side, framing and painting around the new opening and building a wooden ramp inside the garage to accommodate the different ground levels from outside to inside the garage. The last and most important step to me was to secure/close up the new opening with plywood and wooden cross braces until the new garage door arrived! Richard and his crew did an excellent job at each level on this part of the project! Dave set up and provided the Garage Door Installer crew. Alex and his installed my new garage door and door opener. This was a from scratch installation job that included; mounting new rail tracks and springs on the garage ceiling, installing the door itself, setting up the safety travel of the door, installing the new Lift Master garage door opener on the garage door wall, programming the new opener and the two remotes. Alex and crew did a very job on the trim work around the new garage door. All the door’s sensor wires were neatly placed and secured. Alex’s work was very meticulous and through at this last but extremely important stage of my new garage door project.

  • Steve is knowledgeable, experienced and professional. He always kept his work area clean, was always on time. The end result is great! Steve also changed the bathroom door for us, we wanted it to open out instead of in to provide more space inside the bathroom. Steve also repaired our roof, we had a bad leak and he was able to fix it.

  • We spent approximate $185,000 to remodel the entire 1,450 square foot second floor of our home. All in all, D Michael Design did an exceptional job. Winston Churchill reputedly declared: “Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others.” Accordingly, I now declare D Michael Design the worst general contractor, except for all the others. Reality dictates that no large scale project can ever be flawlessly executed. Accordingly, the real measure of success is how the inevitable problems are addressed. In THAT regard, Dave Peters was indeed flawless. Dave was always committed to getting it right, never sidetracked with excuses. Time and again, Dave tackled the inevitable problems and made things right. Starting in mid-September 2017, we met at least once per week to develop our design, select materials, and document a very detailed work order that listed tasks and costs. The project commenced in early November 2017 and culminated in early April 2018. For over five months, Dave was at our home virtually every weekday morning to let us know exactly what would be happening that day and to inspect the quality of the previous day’s work. Always good-humored, he was never defensive when we’d point out inevitable shortcomings; he simply made sure the sub-contractors did it again—and sometimes, yet again—until they got it RIGHT. And sometimes HE identified shortcomings we had missed, and made sure they got corrected. The project was tackled in two phases that enabled us to continue to live in our home throughout construction. The first phase tackled the master bedroom, bath, and closet. Walls were moved, ceilings raised, and more. A lot of design had to be done “on the fly” as hidden infrastructure had to be accommodated. In some instances pipes and HVAC infrastructure were relocated to accommodate our preferred design. In other instances we worked together to devise innovative work arounds. In the end, it all came together with spectacular results. Dave’s pleasant demeanor and constructive attitude made it an enjoyable, teamwork process that might otherwise have been a disastrously contentious and stressful debacle. The second phase involved a bedroom, hallway bathroom, craft room, and office. This phase was not as complex design-wise, but received no less conscientious effort from Dave. In the past, I have dealt with owner-contractors who at the outset gave me their “personal number” so I could reach them anytime. However, once the project commenced, they didn’t answer calls or respond in a timely manner. Not so with Dave. He always responded immediately, cheerfully, and helpfully. I have no doubt that I could have easily found another contractor at a significantly lesser cost. But I also have no doubt that I could never have found as good a VALUE in terms of commitment to excellence, responsiveness, and a stress-free experience.
