  • My experience with a cut above was several cuts below what I expected from a business where customer service is paramount. I dropped off my dog in the morning and was quoted a pick up time of 12:30. So I planned accordingly to be there to pick her up. I received a call at 10:43 from "a cut above" stating my dog was finished. I acknowledged this fact and informed her I would be there at 12:30 as originally stated. She seemed quite bothered by this, but given it was the original scheduled time I didn't let it get to me. I arrived at 12:30 to pick up my dog. Very excited as this is one of the first times she has been groomed professionally. As another review stated, they made me pay first before they retrieved my dog. So I paid the 45 $ grooming fee with the 15$ shampoo / dremel add-on. I also tipped 20 dollars as I wasn't sure what was appropriate. I took my dog from the front desk lady. Thank her and walk outside, once I get into the sunlight it's clear she is still wet. I investigate further and her back left leg and her chest are wet. Given she has lighter color hair it was obvious the coloring was yellow. Also smelled to confirm that it was in fact urine. Given it was all along her chest and one side of the leg, it was obvious she had urinated on herself while she was in a kennel. I find it inconceivable that there is not a system in place to make sure dogs have opportunity to release throughout their stay at this "salon". When I noticed this unacceptable mistake I felt the need to inform them of their* mistake. I walked back inside and pointed out the obvious wet "yellow" spots. Her first reaction and response was to inform me that her kennel was dry. This would make sense as she is quite literally covered in her own urine. Once this ruse was obviously not going to work, she then offered to fix the problem. As I was on a tight schedule I did not have time for this. Given this was her apparent only remedy, I decided to leave. On the way she exclaimed "come back soon". I will not* be coming back soon. This being for obvious reasons including insufficient customer service, and a non-existent or insufficient potty system in place. There is an obvious and dire need of additional customer service training for all involved, but primarily the front desk lady who is the point person between the owner and the staff. It might also be a reasonable idea to perhaps do a very basic visual / tactic inspection of the dog before it is returned to the owner.

  • They are very abusive to dogs! I have seen dogs miss treated when I picked mine up. One dog was so scared it urinated all over when they got it out of the cage and then they just yelled at it. Poor thing was just shaking! On one occasion our dog was left to be groomed and when I picked him up, he had only been bathed and brushed. I was charged for a full grooming. When I called back they said they had a new groomer that they hired and then just fired and to bring him in free of charge to be groomed. When I brought him back in, they shaved him to the skin and had poured oil on his back. He was shivering in the cage with no pad or blanket to sit on. He was traumatized! It looks months for his fur to grow back and the oil to be gone. I was very upset!! We have never been back!! Beware!

  • the worst grooming experience I have experienced.  Explained in detail how I wanted the cut which the groomer totally disregarded.  They told me that although the groomer had detailed notes, they were totally ignored.  The cut was horrible.  Had to have them even out  the cut around the dogs face which was totally screwed up.  Plus, It took them almost six hours to groom my pet and I had an appointment.

  • I love them. They're great. My dogs like them. They know the dogs' names when they first come in. They know their personalities. They treat them really like their kids and that's the part I like. They're all in one big room. I trust them with my dogs so I like them. I actually have an appointment planned in five weeks.

  • My dog seemed to enjoy it. She appeared calm and happy when I picked her up. Staff was very nice and helpful. Groomer was very sweet to her. I will use them again. Process was very simple and easy.

  • My dog has gone to Little Dogs for much of his life He loves the staff, even when they are new. The careful professional training shows in the standards of care being so consistent. He begins to whine in excitement when we are 3 blocks away. The fact that dogs can't weigh more than 30 lbs. keeps it a level playing field (literally). The staff interact with the dogs, making sure that each is comfortable and safe. I saw old guys in safe places, shy ones allowed to find safe corners, and playing groups everywhere inside and out. There is no better place for small dogs.

  • I called the day of hoping for an opening, and they had one. I took him in and they were immediately friendly and sweet with him. This is always something I look for. One thing that made me very happy is that my dog didn't shake or seem afraid in any way to go to them. Of course, I'm sure he's used to being groomed, but it made me more relaxed about leaving him. (I admit to being a bit overly protective.)
    The facility is clean and well ordered. I was told that they watch the dogs to see how they interact with each other. If there's a problem, then they put the more aggressive one in a kennel. I was a bit worried because my dog had shown signs of being aggressive to other dogs on walks at Tanner and Liberty Park. He does much better off-leash, but I was still concerned as I didn't want him to attack any dog. I doubt with the teeth he has left he could do much real damage, but I didn't want him to do anything to another dog. I haven't had him long enough to be completely sure how he will react. They said he behaved beautifully, which made me very happy.
    The women who took care of us are professional, friendly, and smart. They know what they're doing.
    I highly recommend this company and give the grade of A+.
    One thing I noticed and appreciated: there's a sign in the reception area that asks patrons not to come early to pick up their dog as it makes it difficult for the groomer to finish up once the pet hears its owner's voice. I never thought of that so was happy to have it spelled out for me.

  • We have taken our dog there several times for doggie daycare. This place is clean and they let you go through the place to see  where your dog can play have playtime. They have a monitoring system so you can see what your dog is doing and how well he is getting along. We have had him groomed there also. They did a great job. I can tell the dog is having a good time there because he doesn't fight us when we take him back.  When we are not able to walk the dog we take him there. He always gets along better with the dogs in the neighborhood when he has spent time there. We will continue to take him there it makes him happy.  He needs  a  lot of activity and they provide it. When we don't take him for a while he acts up more.

  • Our "Pippin" has had three bad experiences with three questionable groomers. Granted, she was a puppy and probably frightened, but the groomers failed to listen to our requests...and her behavior following these sessions made us wonder/worry a little if she had been mistreated, although there was no physical evidence indicating that.. And the grooming was terrible. We also realize that this breed(s) are "high-strung" although we try not to indulge that. So, I went Angie's list to find another groomer...and wow!..I found Little Dogs Resort and Salon. What a husband took her...she was not thrilled. He explained what we wanted. The young woman who checked her in practices an interesting concept... she actually listened! The result? Three very satisfied, my husband and Pippin. She looked beautiful and she was her usual happy, little goofy self when she came home. The dogs aren't kenneled while there...allowed to run around and play with the other dogs, which must contribute to the animal's feeling of well-being, I would think. But then, I'm no doggie shrink...I do know they did a great job and our dog didn't come home a basket case.

  • I called prior to my appointment and told them my four year old Pom (whom I'd only adopted a short time prior), was very nervous around groomers, and they assured me they were trained in handling nervous dogs.  Nonetheless, they somehow knocked out my dog's right upper canine tooth. They told me dog's teeth were in bad shape. Vet said dog's teeth were perfectly healthy. Owner demanded full payment, PLUS tip.  I did not pay, and consequently began  receiving harrassing, belligerent, and threatening phone calls, at home and at work, even to my boss! Have taken my dog to other groomers since then and they all tell me he is well-behaved and a "sweetheart."  Don't know exacly what occurred at DRU (they said they didn't how how it happened), but I do NOT recommend their services because of my dog's tooth loss and trauma, and how they handled it.  The wash and cut were okay. I ultimately paid the $35, plus $3.00 tip, to get rid of the phone calls and messages left on my voice mail.
