    Swinyer - Woseth Dermatology
I had a 90 min wait while the doctor took care of an emergency.  When she came into my room, she was very professional.  She and her assistant did a full visual scan for skin cancer including on my head, which I would have never thought of doing.  Since I waited so long, she removed the two spots which were indeed precancerous, for no additional charge.

    Rasmussen, Bradley D
My first comment to the one other review (which I felt was unfair): a "C" grade, makes him look lousy, especially when the follow-up you were so disappointed with has a lot more to do with the scheduling folks. Yes, it reflects on Dr. Rasmussen. But it far from defines what he has to offer as a medical professional. I really like Dr. Rasmussen as a person. He has always felt patient, never brusque, always able to answer all my questions, always very warm. He's a darn fine dermatologist, too. My best example (far from atypical, however): For my teenage years and early twenties, I went to Dr. Swinyer. Always had moderate acne (say six to eight decent sized zits in various stages on my face at any given time). Never felt there was any progress made whatsoever... Just come in, they'd chastise me to wash better, they'd use a supercold "slush" treatment (dry ice and acetone?) on my face which I believe was meant to act as an exfoliant. They had no interest in changing techniques, and the one time I brought up Accutane, I was reprimanded that it was for serious cases, not cases like mine. Later, in my twenties, after reading about "revolutionary" lasers used for acne treatment, I went to Gateway Laser and gave those so-and-so's a few BMW payments. It was out of pocket since, as I realize now, the insurance providers were likely hip to that grift. What a joke. No effects, aside from a few painful blisters where they went overboard with the laser, and removing my ability to grow facial hair. (Well, I have to shave, but let's hope the Orrin Porter Rockwell look never comes back in vogue). On the acne front, nada. When I finally started going to Dr. Rasmussen (just a random here's-a-doctor-that's-close-to-my-office choice), we discussed my past treatments, what had worked, what hadn't. (He seemed rather disgusted with the whole Gateway center operation, when I revealed how I had spent over $1800 dollars on their ineffective services.) We went through a few different types of treatment - say, over six months but less than a year, confirming the persistent nature of my condition. Dr. Rasmussen then brought up Accutane. I had understood it was very expensive and that my insurance wouldn't cover it, but he explained that by trying the other methods, we had demonstrated "exhaustion" of my insurance provider's preferred techniques. He gave me lots of fair warning - Accutane is no fun. Blood drawn every month, boo. And as warned, depression was a significant side effect for me. (He chose to do the Accutane cycle it in the winter, because it increases your skin's sensitivity to light... but that meant an extra S.A.D. winter for me.) But it was worth it. I have been mostly acne free for a few years now - a huge boost to my self confidence. And I thank Dr. Rasmussen - his attention to monitoring my past history, his savvy at negotiating the insurance puzzles. I just wish I had been going to him when I was thirteen, maybe I wouldn't have been putting up with lousy skin for a decade and a half,* thinking that I had no alternative. *That's rounding down... I think little acne for a few years as a teenager builds character. The pimple - the great leveler.

    Anderson, Dr. Richard L.
. The procedure went very well. There was no bruising following the surgery and I am very happy with the outcome. The surgeon also took extra time taking care of other issues I had with my skin. I know now why he is such a highly rated plastic surgeon.

    Hinckley, Dr Michael
Dr Michael Hinckley is very thorough and accommodating. He explained everything to me and put me at ease. He even gave a handwritten thank you note at the end. Actually the first time I had an appointment and went there we came to find out that the doctor was in surgery. The staff said she had tried to call me and could not reach me. I felt that the staff had not put enough effort to reach me. I had not known this and I was frustrated a little bit about that as I had to travel a long distance but then when we went the next time and actually met with the doctor it was a great experience. I am a very fair person and felt that I had lots of sunburns. He treated a couple of spots that very day and it was wonderful. I would visit him again in the future.
