Chimney Cap Repair reviews in Salt Lake City

  • Returned my call promptly, I got appointment within a few days, and owner Bartholomew and assistant/wife Kathy showed up on time. He worked outside from top while she ran the vacuum setup in the small, 1937 fireplace. They were thorough. We discussed condition of the gas log that's been there for many years, and decided to reuse the cleaned up concrete logs and replace broken metal grate that they stack on. Bartholomew suggested a bit smaller grate would better fit the size of the existing gas jet assembly (he was right). Regarding this manual style gas jet assembly, we discussed merits of putting in a new one or keeping the one that has always worked fine. He thought if we're satisfied and it ain't broke . . . . One last thing: Chimney needed steel caps, he pointed out, as moisture, debris, critters had access. I agreed and he located fireplace grate and chimney caps on the phone, then drove off to get them while Kathy finished cleaning. All done efficiently. Good cleaning job, good suggestions. Happy with it.

  • A.B. Richards did a great job in assessing our roof and letting us know what needed to be done, and was sure to let us know what was a nice to have and a need to have. We ended up needing a chimney cap, and sealing of our dummy chimneys and some other exhaust vents. Bartholomew found us a chimney cap that fit ours, even though it was not a standard size that was made anymore. His wife did a great job of thoroughly cleaning the chimney and was really helpful in showing us how to use our dampener. They even recommended a wood supplier before they left.

  • Russ was very nice to work with. He was informative, very good in communicating time frames and he did excellent work. Our chimney looks fantastic and now we won't have any surprise squirrel visitors with the cap in place. He even replaced a single brick at the back of our house that we asked about on the day he arrived to do the chimney work - for no extra charge. He's a great guy and did great work.

  • David arrived on time on Wednesday morning to give me an estimate of the cost of repair. He took a look at the damage and inspected a second chimney which had not been covered and we agreed on a price. He started work that day and removed several rows of loose brick from the top of the damaged chimney (the chimney had been overly tall) and fixed the flu pipe which had been dislodged when the old cap was knocked off. He ordered two new caps and returned on Friday morning to install them. He installed water collars around the flue pipes to prevent any water leakage, and installed a missing pipe cap on one flue. I was extremely pleased with his work!! David is very professional, punctual, and communicates very well. I will definitely hire him again if the need arises.

  • David came and looked at both chimneys and recommended replacing the cover that had nearly come off. He mentioned it might be one of the worst he had ever seen. Within a few days, he was back and did the fix. He shared pictures to show what he did, came when he said, and even looked at the dampers on the fireplaces that needed attention. High quality and professional.

  • Dallas was very responsive and did an excellent job!  I thought the price was very reasonable for all the work he did and felt like I got the best service and quality of work.  I would highly recommend!

  • Came to install two chimney caps on our chimney.  Upon climbing up to the top, realized the top of the chimney was uncovered and needed to be covered/sealed.  Gave options for caps and also covers, including custom and standard.  We hadn't expected the need for a cap and so the price increased with that addition, but Dave was exceptionally professional, sent photos along the way of what needed to be done and the completed work.  He gave recommendations for quality and aesthetics and we got the work done in a matter of days even with the set-back.  We would definitely recommend him and use his services again.

  • Dave is an excellent communicator, personable, kind, honest, and did excellent work. Upon reading multiple positive reviews about SCR, I gave him a call and he came right over to give us a quote on repairing our fireplace and chimney. He got the necessary supplies ordered and once they were received, he called to set up a time to do the job. He takes pride in doing all of his own work rather than having a team to dispatch on jobs. This way he knows the job gets done right.
He took his time and seemed to do very careful, quality work. He is a self proclaimed dog lover and didn't mind our 3 dogs roaming around and especially the wiener dog that wanted to lay in his work area. He gave out plenty of petting as well as a great fireplace repair.
Now we have a functioning fireplace and a damper, crown and caps to keep out the cold air, water, animals, and debris. We were extremely satisfied with the work Dave did and would not hesitate to call him again and to recommend him to our friends and family. Thanks Dave!

  • I purchased the $109 chimney cleaning special.  Their communication was excellent.  They showed up exactly on time and were very courteous and polite.  The technician showed me where there was some glazing in the fireplace which indicates something other than wood was burned.  He recommended I purchase a cleaning agent and told me exactly what I should get.  He also told me that I was missing my chimney cap.  I was under the impression that our roofer was going to install one as part of the roof replacement. Of course I was wrong!!  So, I reached out to them again and asked that they return to install the cap.  They did so very promptly.  They were in and out before  I even knew it.  The additional charge for the chimney cap was $150 (additional caps would have been $100 but I only have one).  They were great to work with and I would absolutely recommend them and plan to use them again in the future.

  • This is a wonderful family owned company.  Russ showed up and gave an estimate on the spot.  Russ and his dad began the work very promptly.  The job was done on time and the work was stellar.  I would highly recommend Anderson Masonry.
