Auto Body Repair reviews in Salt Lake City

    ALLSTAR AUTOMOTIVE
Allstar Automotive did a major rust repair on my car in 2011, and in 2013 they repainted the entire vehicle, and it all still looks great today in 2019. Darin and his team do high quality work that lasts for a reasonable price. Highly recommended.

I had an 8 AM appointment to get an estimate, set early so that I could make it to work on time. I arrived at 8:02 and pulled right into the estimate lane inside the building. The woman at the desk told me that everyone was in a meeting, so I should have a seat in the waiting room and they'd be right out to get me. At 8:15 AM having seen no one, I went back to the desk to remind them that I was there, and was told that they were still in a meeting, and it would be another 5 minutes. I informed them that I had made an appointment for 8 AM, which was important in that it would allow me to be at work on time. I also reminded them that they had sent me text the previous night reminding me of that appointment time, and asking me to do them the courtesy of contacting them if I couldn't make my appointment time. Her response was to offer that I could reschedule if I wanted. Yes, that's right. Despite having a confirmed appointment time, they kept me waiting for 20 minutes (and wanted me to continue to wait) because they were having an internal staff meeting, and the response was that I should schedule a new appointment time, write this morning off, and do it all over again including the 20 minute drive. Keep in mind that the shop opens at 8 AM, so there wasn't some backlog of other customers in front of me. I was the very first vehicle that had arrived this morning. I asked to speak to the owner or manager to make sure there wasn't some confusion at the front desk. The receptionist went back to a room I could see where several people were sitting around, and came back and said that he would be out in several minutes. I asked who it was that day, and low and behold it was Jake Higgins (I assume either the owner or his son). At that point I gave up and left. If you, like me, want to take your business to a place that respects your time and appreciates your business, Higgins Body & Paint is not that place.

Excellent! Again, their initial price was reasonable. But they did what I asked and the car looks great! The numerous dents and developing rust hole are completely gone and the paint job looks great! They take the time to do it right, to make sure things cure properly. I do not worry about the paint going bad down the road. The price came in a few hundred below what I had hoped for. I've included a photo. Darin and his folks are professionals. They do good work at a very fair price. They are my go to autobody shop. They do some very high end work (I've seen it in their shop) but also serve people with 20 year old Hondas.

    Rocky Mountain Customs
Hey everyone I just wanted to put my two cents out there about the shop Rocky Mountain Customs. It took 16 days after nothing but excuse after excuse. All I was going to get done was tires (that I prepaid RMC for) put on my wheels that I already had and a three inch lift. He offered me a free lightbar as well. The only things that they actually completed were the lift (that took them five days and taking it to another shop to complete) and the light bar which took three days to complete. He also offered me a few other things because "he feels really bad about how long it's taking" and those have yet to be seen. Multiple times he said that he had the tires in and I never saw them, nor did they get put on. Steer far clear of Rocky Mountain Customs. Nothing but excuses **** from his mouth. This has been THE worst experience I've ever had with a shop in my entire life. I'm really dumbfounded on how they continue running a business. One redeeming thing they did was give me my money back for the tires, but again more excuses and three trips to the shop.

I took my car here because it is a "preferred" shop by my insurer.  The drop off and estimating was efficient and professional.  I liked the progress reports and pictures and the lady I dealt with was very nice, professional and efficient.  In the course of the body and paint work I was informed that my car also needed a new starter and a couple days later new cross bars, both unrelated to the accident.  I happened to be fishing in Alaska at the time and after getting a quote told them to proceed with the additional work.

When I picked up the car it generally looked good.  However, upon close inspection the aftermarket replacement bumper had an injecting mold seem that was painted over instead of quickly being sanded down.  Additionally, I was charged a fair amount more for the additional work to replace the starter.

The shop, reluctantly, buffed the seems in the aftermarket bumper to make it satisfactory.  It is a 15 year old car so I was ok with just an ok job.  I would not have been ok with a new higher end car.  The shop also negotiated a slightly lower charge for the starter, but still more than the quote.

Overall, the shop did an ok job on the work, not great attention to detail.  The lady I dealt with on the phone who kept me informed on the process was excellent. I did feel a little taken by the extra work costing a fair amount more than quoted.  I left satisfied, but will not be returning.  With so many body shops in Salt Lake that are not franchises of a national chain I will opt for an independent shop that gets good reviews.

    RICK WARNER BODY SHOP
They are independent and did a super job. They fixed the front fender for free, so that was a nice bonus. They are professional, and they stay at or below their estimate. I have been using them for 20 or 25 years. The insurance company paid them. They are very good.

    CHRIS' BODY & PAINT INC
I enjoyed very much working with the representative and with the owner.  This is one of the best car repair companies I have worked with and would recommend the firm wholeheartedly.  My experience with Chris' Body Shop was a while ago, but if I ever had any problems with my current vehicle, I will go to them.

They were extremely helpful in the process, they arranged a rental and had it on site when I took my car in. The work was completed timely and was very well done. In summary, I was well pleased at the service, and at the professional craftsmanship when they returned my car.

    LARRY H MILLER COLLISION CTR
They took about a month. For one thing, they were busy. He used to call me twice a week to let me know what was going on. I even went down and looked at what they were doing and everything else. I was treated great. The work, you can't even tell what they've done. It looks that good. The reason I go there, is I bought the truck in Larry H Miller.

It is somewhat a shame that Darin is in the business he's in because he is the type of person you would want to do business with on a frequent basis.  Darin is the consummate professional who provides the highest levels of craftsmanship, and he does so in a warm, friendly and humble way.  Thanks Darin and crew for exceeding our expectations in every way.
