  • I did not use because she returned my call and said they were booked till mid January. I appreciated the call back and would call for future jobs realizing I need to call further in advance if possible

  • C & J Provider name locked. 's owner, Provider name locked. , was very helpful and prompt with his response to my request.  He gave me a fair estimate for the work and I felt he cared about getting the job done right.  The employees of C & J showed up on time and had my ceiling fixed within 2 hours.  They were courteous, professional and organized.  I appreciate that they all appeared to take pride in their work.  I would hire them again for any projects I have.

  • I was overly optimistic and was hoping the window removal and install would take about 4-6 hours.  I should know better.  In old houses, nothing is ever as it seems.  Provider name locked. showed up, I showed him what needed to be done and as we talked about the project and compared notes, he asked plenty of questions to make sure he was understanding what I wanted and what I was trying to say. As he would present an idea, I'd ask questions to make sure it was what I had in mind in case we had to go to Plan B.
He showed up with all of his tools, not really knowing what he'd need so he brought the "kitchen sink".  I had purchased a lot of the supplies, but there were still a few things I needed to run out and buy in order to keep the project going.  I think that was just part of the learning curve  on my end - anticipating what's needed.  Pulling out the window, minor framing and drywall and installing the hardibacker took about 2 days.  The window was not straight forward - it was a replacement window with the old, original frame from 1952 still intact.  I initially was going to have the entire old frame taken out, but that would have meant trying to match a stucco pattern from 1952 so after consulting with Provider name locked. on the options, we settled to leave the old frame intact and frame around it.  And of course that presented a slight problem too because the old frame did not have flat edges.  It had two Provider name locked. which Provider name locked. had to work round when he was doing the trim work.
Once done, the framing looked great - Provider name locked. does good wood work.  He also did a nice a drywall and mud job on the inside of the window.  The drywall mud took  a few days because he put on the initial coat, had to wait for that to dry, came back, sanded it down, put on another coat to feather it out and had to wait for that to dry before he could come back and sand it down.  Along with the wood work, he does some nice drywall wall work too!  All told, these three jobs took about 3 days and was right on as far as price point.  I wish it went faster, but working on older houses is always a mystery.  Nothing is ever square, plumb or level.  You never know what you'l run into until you remove some drywall to see what's actually behind the wall.  Sometimes it's straight forward and other times, it's a surprise.  And with all those curve balls my house threw at Provider name locked. , I have to say, he figured it out!
