  • We get both our cars (a 92 Saturn SL1 & '98 Honda Civic) smogged every year at Provider name locked. . We have been going there for the past four years. They are a family-owned local business. They always get me in and out very quickly and the prices are good.

  • I guess the best way to explain this is to include the email I sent to the service manager at his request following my appointment.  I'm deleting the names and personal info, but you can draw your own conclusions.  I will say the service manager was very professional and polite and concerned about the service I received and I appreciate that.  Beyond the concerns expressed below, I am still trying to understand how the estimate originally came in at $1,265, $536 over the dealer estimate, but after my email, the estimate was able to be whittled down to $729, with a "budget" radiator.  Additionally, the parts on the original estimate were over 3 times the amount I'd priced the parts out at online.  I understand some Provider name locked. up on parts, but not over 3 times the cost at a parts store.  Last, I was told that if  I wrote a review, and it didn't have to be a good one, I'd get an additional $45 credit off the adjusted estimate of $729 for replacing the complete radiator, hoses, etc.  I want to reiterate that the service manager went out of his way to be polite, friendly, and attempt to resolve the issues in a professional manner and I was not angry or upset.  That said, this email recaps my experience....I have my opinion, but you can draw your own conclusions. 

    Hi NAME,
    Per our conversation, I’m emailing about my experience today at Provider name locked. ’s.  

    I showed up at 1pm for my smog appointment.  NAME couldn’t find an appointment for me and I told him to check Thursday, because we’d originally scheduled it for Thursday.  He found that appointment but not one for today.  I told him I was told you could work me in at 1pm today because of my concerns about my radiator leaking and were going to also check for a leak.  There was no eye contact, no sorry for the confusion, just quiet avoidance and what I perceived as irritation at the inconvenience of my showing up "without an appointment. "  I mentioned that I brought the Angie’s list coupon as I was told you’d honor it and the response was “what’s Angie’s list?” again with an Provider name locked. of irritation.  I explained what it was and again there was no response –leaving me with the same perception.  

    I left to go over to AAA for some travel info and came back and sat by the door across from the desk.  After a few minutes I asked if I could get an estimate for replacing the radiator and hoses, etc…the entire job, if it was determined to be necessary.  No response…no look in my direction, no eye contact, no yes, I’ll get you an estimate.  I knew he heard me, but after a few minutes of being completely ignored, thought otherwise.  He proceeded to make phone calls about another car to various parts places, never acknowledging me at all.  I thought maybe he’d not heard me, but really believed he had. 
    Next I spoke with you outside.  When I came back in, I noticed his attitude with other customers had gotten more outgoing and his Provider name locked.  of voice more pleasant.  Then I heard him talking on a personal call and it sounded like ....maybe it was just a bad day for him personally.  

    He came over a short time later and gave me the estimate, so he had obviously heard me, despite never acknowledging my request.  When I was Provider name locked. up, he told me my ATM card was declined.  I told him it could not have been and tried three more times to input my pin number before the pin pad successfully took the “#” in my pin number…I doubt it ever said it was declined, but that’s how he presented it.  I just got paid last night and have several thousand dollars in my account…but instead of just saying, “can you try your pin again, it didn’t go through,” he told me it was declined.  Had I not been the only one around, I would not have been too happy with that approach either.  When it went through on the second swipe, he said “it took it that time” like I was lucky it went through.  

    Just overall, an uncomfortable and unfriendly experience with him.  I Provider name locked. ’t want to see his job threatened, especially in this economy, but I came in there with a pretty good feeling and he was completely indifferent at best.  

    BTW, I checked with the Chevy dealership on replacing the radiator and hoses, not including the cap, and their estimate was approximately $730, so I’m questioning why your estimate was almost double.  I’d gotten another estimate for 3 hours of labor, plus parts of approx. $2-300 more, so around $700 Provider name locked. , assuming the entire job needs to be done.  I certainly hope it’s not because I’m a woman and therefore not supposed to know anything about cars, because that would be even more offensive than the indifferent attitude I experienced from NAME today. 
    I appreciate your talking with me and understand it may have just been an off day for NAME, but didn’t appreciate the indifference and attitude.

  • i arrived at 10:00 am. They were ready and friendly. I left my car with them when I returned around 2:00 pm. My car was finished and looked beautiful.Carpet and upholstery were vacuumed and shampooed . The exterior was waxed. It was beautiful inside and out. They did a beautiful job and the Angie's list special was a great price!
