From the initial appointment with Barry to the work performance (Otto, Justin and Justin) to the final inspection handled by Tamesha, the entire experience was great. Very professional and responsive team.

    Value Dry Waterproofing
My basement only had water come into it once after a downpour, but I definitely had a mold issue downstairs. Any object left in the basement developed mold if mold could possibly develop on that particular material. All other estimates were far cheaper, but the ValueDry presentation was far more professional and the work they proposed to do much more thorough. They give you a sales pitch about how much better their system is, and I recognized it was a sales pitch, but I decided not to take half measures and just get the whole job done. I could have scaled back the extent of the work, however. They gave me a number of options. Before the work started, I had an electrician install an electric outlet in the crawl space, per request of ValueDry. I got what I paid for. They told me in advance that they would be removing two of the four pine paneled walls in the den. They knocked a number of chips in one of the remaining walls and for some reason removed the crown molding on that wall even though they kept the wall. I went through their trashcan and recovered the wooden clothes hanger rack from a den closet and a wood attachment that goes with it. So I suppose that jackhammers and daintiness don't go together, but they got the job done. If you call their office in Baltimore, you may have to leave a message for the right person to call you back, but my calls were answered within a half hour. Here are more details about the job itself. They jackhammered through the concrete floor in three rooms (the family room/den plus bathroom and utility room) in order to install their type of pipe, as well as stone, mudguard, and flow channel. They went around the HVAC system in the utility room. Then they reinstalled the concrete floor. They removed two walls of 1959 pine paneling in order to cover the walls with a vapor barrier. They put the vapor barrier in the crawl space plus crawlspace drainage matting. The installed a closed-cell spray foam insulation vapor barrier in the crawl space. I got a sump well and 1/2 hp sump pump and a new battery back-up pumping system. They installed floor clean-outs, Jet-Kleen drain tile flushing systems. I have a new crawl space door and two EZ Breathe Ventilation Units, one for the basement and the other for the crawl, along with accompanying vents. Whenever I sell the house, I can check this off my list. There is nothing left to do on this issue.

The salesman took the longest Ive experienced and tried to get me to give him prices that other people had quoted me, presumably to try to sell me the most expensive solution. He wasted over an hour and a half of my evening, of which I had planned to use an hour for errands. The company shouldve told me he would be this long so I could have planned accordingly. He was all about selling and creating a plan, which reeked of a practiced sales pitch. I had three other companies give me quotes at this juncture, so what I needed was not a long winded sales pitch, but simple laying out of options from low to high price for me to consider. Even if they are honest in the quality of their work, the way they attempted to sell felt designed to get the most money out of me and selling me a turnkey plan. I was quoted north of $30k for the turnkey solution. I would guess he wanted to quote me closer to $40k based on the much more than $30k comment he made. For the solutions I tentatively couldve considered, the was quoted nearly $18k and $24k. The $18k solution was more expensive than the equivalent $14k solution from JES (the main difference being the humidifier from JES vs EZ Breathe from these guys), and $12k solution from Virginia Basement. Your mileage may vary, but the quotes for me were expensive as was the time taken to even get to the quote being given to me.

Outstanding. These folks are just the best. From the initial intake of the call to the completion of work, they are very prompt, knowledgeable, professional, go out of their way to educate the consumer about options and functioning of the system, finish the work very quickly, and keep in contact about progress and questions throughout. In addition, I think the prices are very reasonable. I cannot imagine better service.

Couldn't be better! I had an annual service call recently, which was excellent as before. A couple of weeks later, early one morning, I called to ask a question about sudden wide pressure fluctuation in my water. Someone called me back very quickly, we discussed what I was seeing and what likely was happening, determined the pressure tank probably had failed (which I expected and had planned to replace soon anyway). They said they thought they could get someone over that day and I did not need to be home. I made sure they could access the tank and, by the time I returned home later that day, the work was done and there was no sign of any disruption - neat, clean, as I had left it but with a nice new pressure tank in place just as we had discussed. It doesn't get any better than that!

    Virginia Basement
I was impressed with Virginia Basement from start to finish. They diagnosed the problem and clearly explained what they recommended to solve it. (I got similar diagnoses from other providers, but Virginia Basement's was the clearest and most comprehensive--and slightly less expensive.) They arrived on schedule and actually finished more quickly than they had predicted. They finished up a final chore (installing a new electrical outlet) today, and supervisor came an hour later to inspect and insure that all was well. Excellent work, professional service.

Short Pump Heating, Air & Plumbing
While I was removing my lawn chair from the crawl space I hit a pipe and sprang a major leak. I called Short Pump HVAC and Plumbing because have never let me down. I called and Jessica was so sweet and recognized the urgency of my water being shut off. Jeff arrived within an hour. Cheery as always, he explained what he would do. He stayed until the glue dried and rechecked the pipes to make sure their was no further leak. He even welcomed me to print a coupon. I really love this company. Each technician is more friendly and thorough than the last. Thanks!!!

The estimator was courteous. He surprised us at the beginning by saying that for every crawl space (even our relatively dry and small 782 SF, 70 year old one), they would install a sump pump or full perimeter drain (first red flag), and the drainage mat didn't seem to be optional. It was odd that he became quite defensive (second red flag) when we asked if there were any issues with their spray foam insulation system detaching from concrete walls (that he told us takes groundwater in). He explained the spray foam insulation had been used in concrete block wall installations for 5-6 years, and that because it's a "non-issue" there is no warranty that covers it.
We found it unusual that he wanted to create the quotes at our home which put us behind on our schedule.
I'm sure their system creates a beautiful crawl space or encapsulated basement system, but it was complete overkill for our application.

    FORT HUNT PLUMBING INC
They are wonderful. The guy was very professional and extremely nice. He was very pleasant with the whole situation. He told me exactly what he was doing, how he was going to do it and took care of it right away. He was so quick but I knew exactly what he was doing. He said if I have another problem, I could call him and he would be right over. I have used him in the past and I would definitely use him in the future.

From start to finish, I was extremely pleased with the quality of work and installation!  Matt Seay, initially came over to give us an estimate, and found him to be extremely nice and professional, as he did give us a written estimate, before he left. i  received quotes from other HVAC companies, but because of Matt, and the fact they were installing a new Carrier system, was the reason for my decision.  After doing my research on heat pumps, I felt Carrier was one of the gold standards in this industry, as well as receiving a 10 year warranty on this unit.   They set a date for the installation, and they  were here on schedule, and completed the job in 5 hours, and am extremely pleased.  The installers, were friendly, efficient and terrific to work with.
Ryan, one of the owners of the company, came by and checked the work, and  made sure it was to our satisfaction.
This entire experience was 1st class, and everybody at Short Pump Air, were terrific!!.....Thank you.
