Boarding reviews in Richmond

Mary did such an amazing job with Bear! Bear is a very finicky dog and hates to be away from his daddy, but I was shocked at how well he did with her. She took very good care of him while I was out of town. I would recommend this place to anybody. The prices are very affordable for what you get!

The experience was even better than we expected. There is nothing fancy about Canine Works but it is clean and we were impressed, when we visited, with the attention that Mary promised to give all the dogs in her care--and she watches a limited number at a time. Because our dog is about 15-16 years old and is partially blind and deaf--and because we have never left him out of our care since adopting him--we specifically looked for a boarding facility that appeared to be capable of giving him the individual attention he needs. I cannot say enough about the care and attention he received from Mary. She adjusted her schedule to Snoop's sleeping habits in an effort to avoid accidents in his bed. She ordered cordless clippers in order to trim his matted coat. (He can no longer go to the groomer because he began exhibiting seizure-like activity in that environment. We'd had him closely shaved last fall, which worked well during the winter as his hair grew back but we were now likely faced with having the Vet anesthetize him in order to shave him again.) Then she actually knit a simple sweater for him to wear on chilly days after his hair had been closely trimmed. She let Snoop wander around her fenced yard for long periods of time, which is what he likes to do--at a very slow pace--but also watched him closely, either in person, or with the various cameras set up outside and inside the dog areas. She regularly sent us pictures of him so we could see how he was doing and very pleasantly took our regular phone calls to check on him. More importantly, Mary did not hesitate to call us if she had any questions or concerns about Snoop. It was very apparent that Mary really cares about animals and gives great love and attention to those for whom she is caring. Snoop was the dog (we have three) that we worried about the most before leaving on our trip and, in the end, was the one we ended up worrying about the least while we were gone--because we knew he was getting the same level of care and attention we give Snoop--and maybe getting a little more. (And, Canine Works charges a flat daily fee for boarding, with no extra charges for the extra things that Mary routinely does for the animals.) There is no question that Mary and Snoop bonded and there is no question that if we have to go away again, we'll be leaving Snoop with Mary and Canine Works.

It went great! Mary is very friendly and obviously a dog person. The dogs were immediately comfortable when we dropped them off, and it was clear they had grown to love Mary by the time we picked them back up. Mary even sent us some pictures and videos of the dogs wandering the yard while we were gone so we could see how they were doing. We will absolutely be using Canine Works again in the future.

Excellent care of our dogs. The 3 dogs are very different and each one had a good experience They were able to give our German Sheppard a bath which was a great surprise as he does not like strangers near him. He even walked willingly into the kennel area away from us wagging his tail. The older dog who usually plants her feet when going to a kennel went happily. She did not plant her feet The puppy had no issues We will definitely go back

Countryside Bed & Biscuit for Pets Ltd
My dog loves it there, the folks seem to know what to do for my pup to keep her happy while we are away, and they can tell you details about things she did, that I know are true because our dog has a unique personality. Things I did not tell them. Our dog is not a good eater, but they were able to get her to eat she did not loose any weight while she was there that is how we know. An excellent value for the excellent care our dog received.

    Bon Air Animal Hospital
They're great folks. One of our kittens needed extra medical treatment, its called crisis when they do subcutaneous fluids, so we had to board her. They are very reasonable for price. We have two more cats and they take care of them.

The charge is $30 per day, but that includes all food plus several hours per day of outdoor time with similar-sized dogs. Other places charge a lot just to put your dog out for 45 minutes, and one nearby that shall remain nameless takes dogs out only one at a time. Don't be fooled; those places with ample green lawns do not let dogs out on them. Seems like any time between 8 AM and 5 PM when the weather's nice, dogs are outside and playing with each other. They will administer meds or even simply a treat that you provide. I also give a little pillow that smells like me for my dog to sleep with. I have a 20 lb beagle, and after a few days she comes back all exercised and lively. I can tell she's been used to playing all day, back to boring life with just me. If you pick up before 9 AM that doesn't count as a day. I often fly in around 8 PM, most places will not allow pickups that late, but it makes it a bit more tolerable when I can get her first thing in the morning for the same price. She's gone there about 8 times, always wags her tail and is excited to go into the building. They have a small dog area so she never has to deal with clumsy oafs that tend to step on little dogs. Little dogs and short-haired dogs sleep indoors.

I use dog services regularly for daycare (typically 2-3 days/week) and also have used for boarding. I (and more importantly, my dog) LOVE them! They are very friendly and very knowledgeable about dogs. I have also taken my parents' dog there for daycare, who is not particularly friendly with other dogs, but she did great there. They know how to introduce dogs properly and put them in groups with similar energy levels and temperaments. My dog, a lab, comes home happy and exhausted each day, which is exactly what I'm looking for!

    Anderson's Corner Animal Hospital
Their services are wonderful. They are thorough, professional, and knowledgeable. They are always looking for solutions. I have been going here for about 3 years now. My dog has had surgery here, and been boarded as well. I go here about twice a week. My dog is my life, and I drive 70 miles just to go here. Everyone that works here is wonderful!
