  • She came across as very negative from the moment she arrived.  When she arrived, we happened to have an exterminator at our house to do a routine pest treatment, and she had parked behind his truck.  I met her outside and explained that he was about to leave in a couple of minutes, so i asked her if she could please park on the street instead.  She looked very annoyed, then went to move her car.  Almost 10 minutes later, she comes back to the front door, where I met her at the porch.  I told her that because they had just sprayed our house, our dog couldn't go back into the house for 15-20 minutes, which was what the exterminator advised us.  So I suggested that first, she come out back and meet our dog, and we could take him on the walk and talk.  Then when we got back, if we wanted to proceed we would look at her paperwork.  She appeared flustered and annoyed about that and insisted that we must do the paperwork and the "contract" before anything.  Since she seemed very adamant about that, I said that was fine and we went inside.  It might be the company policy that I look at the paperwork first, but I found it very odd that she didn't even want to go to the fence and see our dog, smile and ask his name, etc.  She just wanted to go right inside. I told her that I'd look over the paperwork, but I didn't want to move forward or sign a contract until she met our dog and we went on our walk.  Once inside, she said something about how I should have known about the paperwork, forms and contract, because it was emailed to me.  I told her that I never received an email.  She insisted that I should have received it, although I told her again that I had not.  Then she sat down and pulled everything out, while at the same time, she made comments which were quite rude, about how she thought this was a definite job to start Monday (that is not what I'd said), a comment about having to move her car, a comment about how we shouldn't have scheduled an exterminator to come at the same time, etc.  She came across as so negative and rude.  My partner and I knew at that point that we were not going to go with this company, based on this interaction that was happening.   I told her that we felt, at that point, that this would be a good fit for us.  My partner candidly told her that honestly, she was making a very poor first impression, she was acting rudely towards us, and that we were both very surprised that she had still made no effort to meet our dog--even look at him--or ask us what his name was.  It was just all very cold and business-like.  She got very defensive, and the conversation went back and forth for a couple of minutes, as she continued to defend her actions and became more and more angry and rude the whole time.  She finally said that we needed to pay the $5.00 for her to come to our house and I pulled out my checkbook, paid her, and she left.  She basically conveyed that they were doing a great service coming out to meet people and seemed all in all very aggravated that we didn't feel it was the right fit.  it appears, based on other reviews here, that this is a popular business and people seem to be happy with it.  However, from my perspective, if someone is truly an animal person, they would be actually want to know our dog's name and even make an initial face to face with him first. If I am leaving my trust with someone to come into my house and take care of my dog, first impressions really do mean something and it is no different when you are dealing with a prospective babysitter.  So I can deduce from all of this that it is so much of a business that maybe the same care and friendliness doesn't apply because it is a dog and not a child. We will not ever be using the company, and if asked, we also will not recommend Pet Pleasers to anyone else.

  • I board my dogs at the Dude Ranch because they get to have a room instead of a cage.  One of my dogs is reactive to other dogs and I think he feels more secure in a room.  They also feed them the raw food I bring in with them and administer their meds.  They seem very well organized and responsible.  I also like that they get several walks a day.

  • Canine Adventures is the best! They provide mid-day walks for our 2 pups on days where we have to work late. The dogs love the staff and are very well taken care of. They also take great pictures of the walks so you can see how much fun your pets are having.

  • I wanted to elaborate on some of the details from my initial review, and the service Laurel provides to me and my very precious girl, my puppy, Katniss. The first time I had Laurel come over, Katniss was about nine/ten weeks old. I was so incredibly nervous about leaving Katniss the first time - going back to work.
    That said, on Laurel's first visit, I received a wonderful surprise on my phone - a picture of Katniss outside and a note letting me that everything went well. I thought that was an incredibly kind and thoughtful gesture. This extra step on Laurel's part gave me a peace of mind that I cannot describe. Since then Laurel has stopped by to care for Katniss a few more times. Sometimes I will send Laurel a text to check in, and she responds right away letting me know that everything went well.
    We love Laurel, and will continue to use her services. I can tell that taking care of Katniss is not just a job to her.

  • I had to rush out of town and called Laurel for this late notice dog sitting/walk. She responded immediately by phone and text (if you prefer). This was the second time I used Laurel. She is very personable and immediately bonded with our older dogs. She has worked in a Vet's office, can give meds and knows what to do for emergencies. We will be using her again.

  • Laurel is a Vet Tech with vast experience with all kinds of animals. She has walked my dog Leo on a regular basis when I am out of town, and when I have been ill and unable to walk him since I adopted him from the SPCA in May 2012 and found her through an ad at Kroger. She is extremely professional and my very shy, fearful dog responded positively right away to her gentleness and comfort being around dogs. Laurel will take him for as log a walk as I request and always fits me into her schedule even in emergency situations. It feels good to know my beloved dog is in capable hands when I am out of town, She is a great resource for discussing my concerns about my dog. She is able to quietly slip into my apartment and take Leo out for a walk when I am working from home and she texts and e-mails updates and pictures of him when I am out of town. I love how she is available via e-mail or text for me to check in with her about updates on my dog and schedule changes I may need. I know Laurel cares about my dog and his well being and is attentive to his habits and reports back to me about how he did when I was away and follows my directions for his routine explicitly. And her rates are very reasonable!

  • Price various depending on the number of visits per day.  I always get overnight visits and an additional visit during the day - that costs a little extra.

    Michele trains pet CPR.  She knows pets and their behavior and personalities.  She understands that each has specific, individual needs.  I trust her completely with my dogs and household.  I have recommended Michele to neighbors who have thanked me for the reference. 

    We have recently moved to Richmond and Michele is the single most missed service person whom I had relied on for consistently reliable service.  Wish we could have brought her along.

  • Ashley was great. The most important part of our initial interview was when one of our dogs who barks at every new person in our house didn't bark at Ashley. That said tons to us. They certainly seemed comfortable with her. Ashley did quite well with the food and giving all sorts of meds - probably better than we do. As they seem to be on more meds for random problems (getting old sucks), it was comforting that Ashley used to work at a vet and in their pharmacy. When a potential problem popped up with one dog's hot spots, Ashley was full of suggestions and even offered to wash her. Pretty satisfied with the quality of work as well as her capacity to take care of problems. And if you're techno-connected, you can get MMS's sent and FaceBook pics.

  • The 2x a week walking plan costs me $200 a month, which is a real bargain. I have the same walkers every time, and they have a key to my house so they can come in and get my dog during the day while I'm at work. They provide me an email update after every walk, complete with pictures of my dog. And, they are very responsive- the owner Josh has even come to my house to show me some of the training he works on with my pooch! I love this company, and I've been their customer for a year, and am looking forward to many more!

  • The same person (Camille) has been coming each time since we started using their services more than a year ago. She came for the first time (at no charge) to meet our animals and learn where we keep all their stuff (food, leashes, toys, treats), pick up a housekey, etc. Camille clearly loves animals, and they have responded well to her. Although we haven't needed them to, Pet Pleasers will also water houseplants, bring in mail/newspaper, and take trash bins to the curb as part of their services. ((We would, frankly, prefer a lower price on the pet care, since we don't need any of these services.)
