    Piedra, Dr. Mariano M
Mariano Piedra's ethics are severely questionable. He put my life in jeopardy by having me detox from a benzo at an extremely uncomfortable and possibly life threatening rate and I will never forgive him for that. He is condescending, misogynistic, extremely unprofessional, judgemental, and accusational. If you want compassion and empathy when you are in your weakest/most vulnerable moments look elsewhere! Stay away if you don't want to suffer from unnecessary duress! His NP Luckhart is worse!

    Good Neighbor Community Services
This is the second time I've had issues with their lack of follow-through. This time, I go out for appointment, and the person I was seeing is no longer there. And nobody was scheduled to take her place. I was told that they tried to call me, got "not a working number". They'd dialed the wrong number and didn't bother to call the actual number in my profile. I'm writing this so that others will be more informed and look for a group which is more reliable, if they have a choice.

    Nancy M. Whitehurst, LCSW
Very available. Not a time clock person. She's not gonna sit there and say "hey your time is up". She's very available. More of your needs. She's more personal than business I guess. She's accessible. Any questions about her availability, she's willing to work around your schedule. I've had phone conversations with her where she may not be necessarily available via phone but she is. The only problem with her is that she doesn't accept insurance.

    Bennett Jr, Dr. James P.
My  follow-up visit with Dr. Bennett took place at the recently established  VCU Parkinson Disease Center located  on the former Reynolds Metals Campus in the Billy Reynolds Building  (W. Broad Street and Forest Avenue,  Richmond, Virginia).  The location is a plus and is easily accessible from I-64.  The newly renovated space in the building is spacious, welcoming and offers a larger and more comfortable reception and waiting area..
When I arrived for this visit, my wife and two grandchildren  (10 and 8 1/2) were invited to join me for this visit to my PD(Parkinson's Disease specialist).
We were warmly greeted by the receptionist .  And informed that Dr. Bennett's nurse would call us in shortly for the entry routine of blood pressure, weight, and general health and well-being questions entered on the electronic record  to aid Dr. Bennett.  Immediately after this process we were shown to an examining room were we waited at most   3 to 5 minutes for the physician.  Dr; Bennett, greeted the entire family warmly , but quickly focused his attention on me, the patient.  He asked about any PD related issues as well as my general health since our last visit.  Focusing on several recent falls that I had,  he listened carefully to what my wife added about these and interacted with us to get an accurate  perspective on the progress of my PD symptoms. This led naturally to his asking if we had considered one treatment for PD   symptoms,  Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS).  We affirmed that we had  and  we asked if he would provide more information for us.  Citing a major large scale research study completed  in Europe and reported recently in the  New England Journal of Medicine, confirmed what my wife and i had read and heard about this study and the growing  success of DBS for PD patients.  After further discussions and responding to our questions, we agreed that I would proceed with an evaluation by the VCU PD Center staff and affiliated specialists.  Dr. Bennett described the evaluation process carefully and  explained the expert assistance and record of his VCU colleague and PD Center affiliate, Dr. Katheryn       Holloway, in implanting electrodes in the appropriate locations in the brain to insure the effectiveness  of DBS in  reducing a number of PD related symptoms, for example, tremors, freezing of the waling gait and others.   My wife and I agreed that we would proceed with the  Center's  evaluation process to see if I were a suitable candidate for surgery to insert  the DBS electronic leads into my brain, implant the DBS electronic simulator under my upper body skin and begin the process of turning on the DBS  and programming it for maximum effectiveness.

    Paul Spector DO
He is a warm and caring human being. Very loved by his patients. Very  ethical. Totally knowledgeable about psychiatry and medications. He is friendly - one of the few psychiatrists in the Richmond area who aren't arrogant. He is so intelligent that he is also a psychiatry professor (part-time) who teaches young doctors. I'd never think of seeing any psychiatrist but Dr. Spector.

    Caplan, Dr. Judith G.
Very caring and consistent, intelligent and quick, present and effective. Uses strong listening skills, patience, and creativity to provide useful insight, solid advise, and is an all round steady, consistent, positive influence. Very capable of using foresight to avoid or negotiate through difficult issues, including relationship issues inherent in a therapeutic relationship. Does not use irritating professional jargon like  "How do you feel about that?" or put a person in a box with a diagnosis. She's real, empathetic with appropriate boundaries. She takes a difficult profession & makes it look easy.

    The Barnabas Center
My experience with The Barnabas Center has been really great. They are very discrete, which I appreciate. They are pretty open with appointments. If you can't meet with one counselor they will try and schedule you with another counselor.

    Gaertner, Dr. Ronald W
I am notified just days before I am in need of a physical.  I have made an appointment for 8:30am.  A nurse reminded me of the appointment, but said that the doctor never comes in before 10:00am.  To clarify, I was expected to show for my appointment at 8:30am and could not possibly see the doctor until at least 10:00am.  I have never had any communication from the doctor.  In the one vicinity where I would hope to feel safe and not judged, I feel treated second rate by this physician and the staff that make his appointments.

    Tucker Psychiatric Clinic Inc
My husband is pleased with Dr. Seward at Tucker Psychiatric Clinic. I am not so pleased with Dr. Brooks.

Dr. Brooks doesn't have a bedside manner so to speak; I am putting that loosely. When he comes to get you, turns around and walks down the hall (he is only like 6 foot 7) really fast, and gets to his office and just stands there like come on. You go in there and he sits down, he doesn't talk to you that much, he just writes the prescription almost from the time you walk in, and then you are out the door. That's it. I have been to someone who is not there anymore and they were really good. I have been seeing him for about 4 years and I keep saying I am going to change and then I don't. He is not someone I would recommend. He is just really cold, nothing like I have experienced before. I will use the clinic in the future, just because I haven't taken the time to find someone else.

    Rabinowitz, Dr. Jesse A.
He has got a lot of different view on psychology today, he is pretty popular and he is usually pretty booked up. He has plenty of availability if I book about a month out, but he does fill up because he is so popular. I have my insurance and my co-pay covering him, so I don't know what it costs.
