"Other than the fact that this all took place over the Christmas holidays, it went great. It took about a week longer than we anticipated...again, probably due to" the holiday season, but still considerably shorter time that any of the other contractors we got bids from quoted. We knew this was going to be a dirty and dusty job, which it certainly was, but the workmen made every effort to cover floors, rugs, etc. and keep doors closed to contain the dust. (Still very dusty). They cleaned up after themselves every day before they left, and kept us apprised of their progress and any problems that arose. We found all --ALL -- the workmen to be congenial, professional, thorough and extremely hardworking. We did discover s problem with one of the faucets s few days after the job was completed, but when we called , they promptly arranged for a workman to come out and the problem was fixed the very next day. We love our new bathroom...just wish we'd done it years ago. And we would use again and recommend them without reservation.

"The young men were prompt and courteous and did a good job of sealing off and taping the spray zone. However, they were done in about 3 hours. On the return visit" to apply the sealer they were done in under an hour. As they said, "It was an easy one." They asked me how smooth a texture I wanted and for the most part met my expectations, although in the corners and close to the backsplash --where the sanding was more difficult, the texture was quite bumpy. They did not ask me to check the texture before proceeding with the sealer stage. If they had, I would have asked for a little more sanding first (for easier cleaning on my part). So, not perfect but not a big deal either. When they had cleaned up and approached me for payment I asked if there was any wiggle room in the price considering they were done in far less time than was estimated, and it had been a job. They said no. The only reason I didn't call the office to discuss the price, brief time spent etc was because my housemate was paying for this particular improvement (we share costs and alternate paying for jobs). While she agreed with my observations she was very busy at work and didn't feel like trying to argue the point. So, in summary I feel the quote was a bit high and uninformed, since 's own employees exclaimed upon how easy the job was, and work was done in far less time than stated. The end result looks nice and has held up perfectly. I would just tell anyone to make sure that the quoted price took into account ALL the factors and the time frame quoted is factual.

Bathtub Liners and Refinishing

Over time, the bathtub can begin to show signs of wear with stains, scratches, a dull finish or other ugly marks. Bathtub refinishing is an option that can return a bathtub or shower enclosure to like-new appearance.

OK - terminology issue here. The "shower pan" is a collection liner than underlies the shower floor itself, and is designed (if built and plumbed right) to trap any leakage from the shower floor and route it to the same floor drain pipe. Example image here, copper in this case -

It sounds like your are saying the shower floor or base unit failed - likely a fiberglass or plastic shower, which commonly fail due to incomplete support under them. This can be repaired if fiberglass, but is not usually done unless just microcracking, as it is hard to find an expert - usually you have to have a car body fiberglass specialist or a surfboard repair expert do it, and the color will not match perfectly unless you get a new gelcoat over the entire base unit. Cost about $300-500, ASSUMING the material can be repaired - true fiberglass can, thermoplastic can sometimes be welded but anyone's guess how long it will last without cracking again, plastics like PVC can rarely be fixed so they will hold someone standing on them. Any sort of repair is likely to crack again, because you have done nothing to remove the cause of the cracking which is standing on a base that is not fully supported over its full extent. Some cheepo or desperate plumbers try injecting non-pressuring type expanding foam underneath to improve the support - this does a great job of supporting it but unfortunately supports mold, so starts stinking in short order as a rule.

The normal fix is to remove and replace it, because once it is out there is no sense in putting a damaged one back in for the small increment in cost. Removing it means taking the shower wall liners or the bottom row or two of tile out so you can get the new base unit into place (because they overlap it), then replacing them. So, the $3000 range indicated is indicative of this type of job, which typically runs from a very low of around $1500-2000 for an identical base unit, to more typically $3-5,000 depending on whether a shower enclosure or tile walls. Of course, when the new one is put in, it is CRITICAL that it be fully supported - this means rubbing plumbers rouge or similar marking substance on the bottom, test fitting it, and then lifting it out and checking that all the stiffener ribs and support pads made contact with the pan, and making adjusments as necessary until it has full contact, then standing in it and rocking back and forth to check for any points not making full contat and fixing them.

The $10,000 plus numbers you got must have been for entire shower replacement down to the joists and studs, and the $30,000 range number would be typical for a full bathroom remodel with new shower or shower/tub and doors and surround, wall finishes, vanity, sink, toilet, and flooring and door.

Bathtub Refinishing reviews in Richmond

They did an excellent job. We are very happy with the installation. Plus they worked us in due to the fact our old tub had cracked and we were in need. So they actually came out on a Sunday for the install. They were very professional and they did the job I thought in record time, started at 9:00am and finished at about 2:30pm. We plan to use ...More them again in the near future.

is a first class contractor . I had a hard time finding someone who could do the entire job . Some places just did reglazing some just did plumbing . does it all . He found the fixtures I wanted did some amazing things to even access my plumbing . The bath tub looks brand new . He was in constant contact ...More with me the whole time making sure I was up to date as to what was going on with the project . gave us all the options from repairing to replacement and tried everything he could to help us save money as we are on a budget. A+ all the way . I wouldn't use anyone else for my bathroom .
- Kenneth J.

My appointment was scheduled at 2:00 pm and at 2:00 pm they were sitting in my drive way. was extremely professsional and knowelegable about my job and provided me with instructions as to how to maintain the excellent new finish of my tub.
- Richard C.

They were very professional and friendly. I never felt they were trying to up-sell me or insist on me adding things in my bathroom that I didn't need. They also tried to help me save money by offering to paint a cabinet that was in fairly decent shape instead of replacing it.
Very helpful in arranging the financing with their lender and ...More has remained within my budget.

I recently decidedto finally do something about the ancient tub and tile situation I had going on in my bathroom. My main goal for the tub and tile area had less to with full-on renovation or restoration and more to do with abating any sort of water infiltration and fixing leaking plumbing. For this reason, I decided to give Bathfitters a shot. ...More Overall, I would
say that I am satisfied with my choice.
Here is a quick break down of the pros and cons as I experienced them:
· The staff were all very friendly and helpful
· The installation was completed in one 8-hour day as promised
· The acrylic fitting itself fits snugly and installation appears sound
· Clean-up of the bathroom area was performed following the installation
· The warranty appears to be fairly inclusive
· There was no mention of an extended warranty feature that would allow the warranty to
transfer to the next property owner
· The price is fairly steep for what is actually done to your bathroom. However, it should be noted that the quick
installation and the warranty add to the value of the service
I would recommend this service to anyone who needs a quick and effective fix for a bathroom in

When I purchased the property, I thought one tub could be cleaned and salvaged but it turned out to have several coats of surfacing already on it. Looked at Angies List and found several top ranked companies but only had an actual showroom you could visit! I got phone pricing from other vendors and while most were appreciably ...More less expensive, I had no way of knowing what I was buying! The warranty was also better. The young man who came to do the work, , was super nice and did a fabulous job of stripping and refinishing the tub which looks great. I'm a very happy customer but in all fairness, the success of this process needs to be measured over time - but have no reason to believe their finish will not hold up.

We chose A&J after reading listings and getting visits/quotes from three potential vendors. (owner) explained the steps involved in the resurfacing and estimated a three-day time period for completion. Scheduling was easily and efficiently handled by April ( 's wife). ...More On the start day their worker ( ) arrived punctually and did a very detailed, thorough cleaning of the existing tiles and grout. There was no mess, no fuss and he was most professional. The second day resurfaced the walls, applying the necessary primer and multiple resurfacing materials. While the spray was foul-smelling, kept air blowers going the entire time. By the following morning there was little odor remaining. That third morning handled the resurfacing of the non-slip shower floor and the bathroom floor. Again, blowers kept the smell to a minimum. When completed our bathroom looked brand new in every respect! A remarkable improvement! My wife and I are very satisfied and will certainly recommend A&J to others.
As an aside, A&J's price was about one-half that of another top-rated area vendor. Unlike them, A&J does not have an expensive showroom to support in Short Pump which, we think, is totally unnecessary for a resurfacing project such as ours. Also, keep in mind that the temporary removal of the toilet, sink, shower door, etc. is something that must be arranged separately. None of the providers we spoke with offered those services.
We're very pleased with A&J Resurfacing as they proved to be true specialists who were reasonably priced and a pleasure to deal with.

When our bathroom was remodeled, we chose to have the contractor reglaze the bathtub in order to not have to deal with multiple schedules. Big mistake. I had previously gotten an estimate of $299 to reglaze the bathtub and I should have gone with it! When it was clear to both the contractor and me that the original reglazing job was not good at all, ...More he gave me money back for that portion and I immediately called A & J. They were extremely professional in all their dealings with me - from scheduling, to assuring me that they could fix the tub, to coming back when the glaze was dry to caulk the tub in the color I wanted. (Normally, I believe they use white caulk on the day that they glaze. I wanted to use the colored caulk that match my grout and they were happy to come back and do that. when the glaze was completely dry.)

They arrived promptly, my bathroom was clean when they left (I know many people who have complained about the grit that hangs around a bathroom when a reglazing is done), they communicated clearly and often during the process of scheduling, and were always extremely courteous and professional. (My original reglazing was scheduled for the day after Hurricane blew through and we were without power so we had to reschedule.)

Although they were charging $299 to reglaze a tub when I first called, if your tub has ever been reglazed, there is an extra $100 charge to remove the first glaze. So my total cost was $399 and it was money extremely well spent. I would use this company again in a heart beat.
