"I took advantage of an Angie's List deal and had my chimney cleaned. The company called and scheduled an appointment with me quickly.
" came out as scheduled and on time. He cleaned and inspected my chimney and educated me a bit on fire safety. He checked my dryer vent asked about my smoke detectors and fire extinguishers. It was very interesting and he gave me some tips on keeping my home fire safe. I would call them again.

"They did a great job! They even replaced (for free) the outside vent flap when it broke while they were clearing the dryer vents. They also offered some good advice" regarding fire extinguishers and alarms.

Yes Jupiter. It depends on the severity of the situation, is the mold encapsulated in the insulation. If yes, than replace [insulation] it with new. Is it on the casing of the heater? If yes, clean it with a mold neutralizing metal cleaner. It's not a matter of finding something or someone to clean or address the existing mold. It's a matter of finding a contractor to rectify what is causing the mold grow. It's coming from excessive moisture in the air-handler unit. I can say with 100% surety you’re dealing with poor airflow and/or incorrect equipment sizing! Either issue will cause excessive icing of the evaporator coil, which leads to excessive condensate water in the system. The condensate will eventually overflow the drain pan leaving stagnant water in the air-handler housing, which leads to mold growth. I would not let any contractor do any kind of temporary repair, add any device like a UV light or air-cleaning product until the aforementioned is corrected. I talk a lot about this in my videos and on my website. It is the result of improper system design from unqualified contractors. There is a reason why some guys cost more than others, and this is one reason why!

If the ducts are venting through a window I'm assuming the duct work is all easily accessible.  Lowe's and Home Depot sell a cleaning kit that uses an electric drill to spin the brush as it goes through the ductwork.  I've found it to work quite well and you can do it yourself.  It may take a few passes the first time to get everything out if it has been a while since it was last cleaned.  Just make sure you get all of the loose lint out after running the brush through from both ends and you're good to go.  Please note that if the line is not hard but rather a flex duct line you can easily puncture a whole in it with this kit and will do better to clean it by hand.

There are varying opinions on the type of cleaning to have done on your air ducts.  My opinion is that it varies based on the type of duct work you have.  If you have solid material (typically metal) ducting you can have use a company that uses a brush to scrape the system clean.  If you have flexible plastic or foil ducts the solvent cleaners are generally a safer bet since the brushes often tear holes in the soft material and/or pull joints loose.  It really depends on what type on ducting you have.  You're ducts will collect all kinds of dirt, skin cells and allergens over time so if you see dicoloration around your vents it is probably time to get them checked and cleaned.

Also, don't stop at the duct work.  Don't forget your annual system check up by a licensed HVAC technician.  They'll make sure your system is running at peak performance, keeping it running efficiently and with as little impact as possible on your electric bill.  You can often save the cost of the annual tune up in the electricity cost saved.  If you have a natural gas system a bi-annual check and cleaning of the HVAC unit may be advisable to save electricity and gas.

Your right, HVAC companies are really not much help at all in regard to getting all the rooms and floors the same temperature, and airflow.  It's not their focus or their expertise. They repair and sell hardware.  I had the same exact problem here in Central Florida.  I had rooms that were to hot in the summer and the same ones were to cold in the colder months.  I have a 2 story 2800 sq ft home with 4 bedrooms.  I did a lot of research, and I tried to fix it myself, but in reality I made it worse.  I finally found a company here in the Central Florida area called AirFlowBalance, LLC.  Their web site is AirFlowBalance.com.  This company is not an HVAC dealer or repairer.  Their sole focus is to balance the airflow and temperature in a home by using a nonevasive proprietary process, with patented devices. Now, when I set my thermometer at 75 degrees, every room is 75 degrees.  I no longer have to bump up or down the temp from room to room.  No more thermostat wars with my family!  Also, I was very supprised at how affordable it was and the whole job was done under 3 hours.  They also have an online estimate page on their web site.  I hope this helps, and I am not sure if they have an office in AZ.
?
if you have exhausted all of your choices I would call and put a complain in with the BBB then go to the DA and put a complain with them.  Then get a good lawyer and sue them for all you can get.

the answers in this on this page are all correct but you are using a bandaide to to cure the infection have a trust hvac tech open your system to see where the dust is coming from you more than likely have an impacted coil that need to acid wash to bring it back to oringinal anything left from the fire is still inbeded in that coil. just remember after that job to keep your filters clean change once a month in the summer and every two months in the winter.

Overall, I am very pleased with the service. The entire service call was handled with professionalism, from putting on the booties over his shoes to leaving no trash, dirt or dust. And, best of all, clothes now dry in one cycle, saving electricity!

arrived on time and was very professional. He explained all the options that were available and there was no pressure to do any work. He and his assistant were neat and cleaned up after their work. When they left you never new that we had work done in the house. I would strongly recommend then and plan on having them maintain a yearly cleaning and checking the system.

I used this company because it had an "A" rating from Angie's List - so am particularly distraught with the following result --
The appointment was today, having waited three weeks because it is high season, which is understandable. I moved most furniture out of the room where the fireplace is located because it is a light color and, although they said they covered furniture, I wanted to be safe.
I understood the appointment was 3 PM (later I was reminded it was between 3 and 3:30 PM) and was supposed to receive a call notifying me before the workers arrived. Since I had not heard anything at 3:20 PM I called the office, no one answered so left a message. Given the lack of communication as well as my concern about damage to the home/furniture for the chimney sweep service, I called the office again at 3:25 PM, no one answered, left message asking for proof of insurance; said it could be emailed to me.
Around 3:30 PM heard from the workers on their way to my home from

- I explained the desire to see the insurance and that I had left messages at their office; they said they did not have any insurance documentation. I asked that they come to do the dryer duct cleaning but was not sure about cleaning my fireplace. It was curious that after that conversation, I finally received a call from

office - it seems the guys on the way to my home contacted their office about my request and that is when I received a response. The gentleman in the office was very nice but explained the workers nor he could provide insurance documentation.
The workers arrived, cleaned the dryer air duct; were professional, kind and efficient. They charged $139. There was no paperwork that identified insurance coverage. In fact, the only paper aside form an invoice was the one I had to initial to agree no damage was done to the home/premises. Suspect that would mean if you found black dust on your furniture from the chimney sweep after they left they would not be liable --- which is why they did not clean my chimney.
The duct cleaning was very good. The communication and transparency from the office was exceedingly poor. They used my limited time to prepare my home for their work, now will need to use this evening to return all the furniture because it will take weeks to get another chimney sweep to my home.

I scheduled an appointment with
Raleigh Dryer Duct Services Provider Name Locked
in mid-August at 3pm to clean my fireplace. I took 1/2 day off work to meet him. At 3:10pm he calls to tell me that he was just leaving the doctor's office and the doctor didn't release him from an elbow inquiry he had suffered previously. My thought was why would he just be leaving the doctors office when he was suppose to be at my house at 3:00pm. Anyway, he said he would call me to schedule another appointment once he got released from the doctor. About 2 weeks later I get a call from him that he is at my house ready to do the service. Problem is, I'm at work and we didn't have an appoint scheduled. We set another appointment up for Friday at 3pm. At 3:30pm I called and left a voicemail asking him where he was. At 5:00pm he calls and says he's on I-40 and it's a parking lot but he'll be there as soon as he can. I told him he didn't have to come and we could reschedule. He thanked me and said his wife would appriciate that as well. We set another appoint for today at 3:00pm. I called him at 1:30pm to confirm our appointment and got his voicemail. I called at 3:15pm and got his voicemail. It's 3:52 and I am writing this review. No show 3 times & shows up one time without an appointment.

They were great. They arrived on time and worked for around 2-3 hours. They were professional and courteous. I had several questions and they explained everything. They cleaned up beautifully behind them. The cost was what they said it would be and our house is around 1900 square feet. We couldn't be happier.

I will be calling
Raleigh Dryer Duct Services Provider Name Locked
in the future, as although several people told us to just use a air hose and blow the dryer vent out, once I saw what a professional job they did and how much potential fire starting lint I would have missed, I was so glad we got the professionals in. We used a coupon and for a mere $59 we had a firefighter come and clean the vent with a special vacuum and cleaning brushes that left no dirt or build up in the entire vent system. Both ends looked new by the time he was finished! Then we got the extra bonus of a discussion about fire safety in our home and several suggestions on what we could improve on. No one ever wants to have a fire in their home, so please take my advice and get these guys into help you avoid it... it will be the best money you will ever spend!
