I went to visit Provider name locked. on Provider name locked. 3, 2011. Two women were working in the store around 12:00 pm and they were the rudest people I have ever encountered in a retail store. They snapped at me for viewing a bracelet in the window and also snapped at my friend. My friend asked to view a bracelet in one of the glass displays and the employee was having trouble getting the case open. My friend then politely said, "don't worry about it if you can't get the case open" and the employee responded "are you serious about buying this or not!" My friend and I were both in shock and left the store immediately.
This was my first trip to Provider name locked. 's Provider name locked. and I plan on returning in the future. Every person I met in the town was wonderful except for these two women. I DO NOT recommend this store to anyone. I am still disgusted! I emailed the owner to let them know how I was treated and still have not heard back from the company. This is probably a common thing for them and they just don't care.- Alicia A.
Provider name locked. has wonderful classical taste. I feel as though my home is tasteful, elegant and still feels like a 'home'. Provider name locked. takes her time with each client and does a great job offering selections and guiding choices. She has a very pleasant personality and is very enjoyable to work with. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for a timeless and elegant feel for their home.- Christine R.
In short, amazing. A few months back my Grandmother passed and I was fortunate enough to inherent my great great great grandfathers dinging room table from her. Unfortunately the table top had not been while cared for over the past few years, and the leafs for extending the table had been kept in a humid closet and were all but following to pieces. The table itself is massive, I do not have the measurements in front of me right now but it is at least 5 feet wide and when fully extended is over 13 feet long. You can easily fit two people at both ends with extra elbow room and 10 people to side when fully extended, making for a massive table area for 24 people.
The primary table surface was in what i would consider a 4 on a 1-10 scale, and the leaves were 1s or 2s. The table sat for a couple weeks in my garage still packaged in the shipping box that was used to send it from CA to NC because I was worried how much it was going to cost to bring the table back to a usable state. Then I finally broke down and emailed Provider name locked. . Within 24 hours Provider name locked. called me and scheduled time to come over and do a free estimate of the work. This is where the great experience began.
I am on the road 4 out of 7 days a week, so scheduling such appointments is normally an ordeal for me, but Provider name locked. was very accommodating and squeezed me in that very Friday morning. If you can't tell already, even with the table in not great condition I was in love with it, for its massive size and family history, after one glance at the table, before I even had a Provider name locked. to say anything about it, Provider name locked. 's passion for his work and love for my table came gushing out. It was amazing to have someone who appreciated the table for everything I appreciated for without any prompting. That right there let me know I had called the right person.
After spending a good 20 minutes with me going over every inch of the table at my home and asking about all the history and what I wanted done he gave me a quote on the spot. First he described the work that they would do:
1. come to the house and carefully disassemble the table so as to remove the top
2. take the top and all the leaves back with them to their shop
3. completely dissemble the top and put it back together to eliminate gaps that had formed between the perminate leaves and had been filled in over the years by wood putty that was now flaking away
4. take the leaves, some of which were almost split in half, and fix all the cracks
5. color match all of the leaves and top of the table to the none faded edges around the top of the table
6. greese the wooden runners that allow the table to expand and contract
7. package it all back up and bring it back to the house
8. and finally re-assemble the table, including replacing screws that had been lost over the years
After hearing that long list of work to be done, including more details about the process of how they refinish the surfaces (which you can find details about on their website) I was thinking to myself, sounds amazing, but the price for this is going to be out of this world. Then he quoted me the price, and I about fell on the floor. His quoted price, with the 10% Angie's list discount, was at least 50% less of what I would have expected to pay for the work involved. It was still not a small chunk of money so I wanted to discuss with my faience first before committing to anything. Provider name locked. was totally agreeable to leave me with all the information and walk out the door after spending 20 minutes of his time, not to mention driving out to the house, without walking out with a check. At no point did I feel pressured at all to hire him. He simply left me with the quote and told me I could call them back any time and they would pick up the table at my earliest convince and have it back to me in about a month.
About a week later I called them up and they picked up the table a couple days later, again when it was convenient for me.
Four weeks later I get a call that the table is complete and ready for delivery whenever is convinent for me. They brought it by that very afternoon.
When they first walked in with the table my heart skipped a beat. It might as well have just been built. Without me telling you the table is over 150 years old you would never know. The top, which before when closed without leaves looked like 10 separate disjointed pieces of wood from where it had started to separate, now looked like one solid massive piece of wood. It is incredible. It is as if there are no seems at all. Then they brought in the leafs. I was sure they would not be able to restore all of them do to the massive amounts of splitting. Boy was I wrong. Sure a couple of them have a bit more charcter from where the boards were re-joined from the cracking, but even that is not that noticeable. On top of all that the colors all matched perfectly with the existing color around the Provider name locked. of the table and the base, which had not needed any work done to it.
On top of delivering the table top back to the house the two technicians spent a good 40 minutes at the house re-attaching the top of the table to its base. This was a long process because over the years many of the screws used to attach the table had fallen out and been lost, and the screw wholes were from the 1860s, and if you didn't know they just don't make screws like that any more. But the technicians took the time to line up everything correctly and find the right screws to fit in the right holes.
Another bonus was the men who delivered the table had also done much of the work as well, so they were able to tell me all about what they did and also share their passion for their work, and their love (and jealousy) of my awesome table.
If I ever have any more restoring work to do I wont even hesitate for a second to call Lowells and just hand over what ever it is to them knowing it is in not only skilled, but loving hands.
I wish I had had the foresight to take "before" pictures, but I will at least attach some of the after pictures and a picture with 24 people sitting around the table form when my father was a child.
