Fitness & Weight Management reviews in Providence

They have a lack of cleanliness and filth in the gym area and the failure to patrol foul language both verbal and the clothing that some of the members wear. The staff closes the place down 10-15 minutes early. The water fountains don’t work in a regular basis. There is a gum that floats in the pool. There are also fist fights that break up between the members that require the police to come. I would not use them again in the future.

Great....Mr. Dexter set me up with the perfect trainer....we got along perfectly and he pushed me to reach into myself and I trained harder than I ever thought I could....lost 15 pds in 5 wks and put on some nice muscle mass (in all the right places). I am very pleased with him and myself.

I had a very good experience with them and it's a good value. As a member, I can go to a lot of different locations and it's much better than any other fitness centers. They keep good stuff in terms of equipment and it is cool. I would use them again in the future.

The people are nice, but it is difficult to get information, schedules, etc, especially online. The schedules did not work for us at all. We primarily wanted to take our kids swimming regularly, but the family swim times were so varied and limited, we weren't able to take advantage of them. We also wanted to use the child care so we could work out, but the child care hours were too late in the day. We also had similar problems with the class schedules. The facility itself is dingy and worn, but the exercise equipment was new and in good shape.

We started on a part time basis while we finished our contract with another studio.  I was not happy the quality of instruction we were receiving at the other studio.  We have been full time since June 1 and have been very happy about the move.  Each class  emphasizes conditioning, with practice or new introduction of defensive and offensives techniques, sparring, forms or katas, or a new training technique.  You will learn something new with each class and certainly not be bored.
I am 47 years old and just starting in on martial arts.  I have to say I am in much better shape now than I was before I started.  We work on core, conditioning and stretching at the beginning of every class.  The techniques learned are from a realistic point of view. My son is enjoying himself in the childrens class.  He is much more aware of defensive and offensive techniques now as opposed to before where he was just introduced to kicks and katas.  I was looking for a program that would teach my son how to defend himself properly in case of an attack and build self confidence.  This program has that and more for my son. We both look forward to each class.
Each person in the childrens or adult class is there to help the other succeed.  This is a very cooperative learning environment.I personally do not think you will find a better studio around to train in martial arts than Derderian Academy.  You can read more about the programs at   (This is for the JKD and Kali programs).

The people there are awesome. They are very helpful and willing to work with me. They are willing to repeat things that I can't remember from one week to the next. Their pool is little but nice. They have an exercise program two times a week in the morning for people that have arthritis. Their weight machines are very good. The staff actually knows how to properly help people use them. I will continue to use them.

She is very friendly and very knowledgeable. She works with me rather than against me. She is very enthusiastic. Until I threw out my back three weeks ago, I use her once a week from the past year and half. I didn't throw my back because of her. She also handles my kids.

I've been going to DTC for four months and have seen phenomenal progress in my weight loss and fitness goals. My trainer Ryan Snowden is by far the best I've ever worked with--he is both professional and extremely knowledgable on how to customize the workouts and nutrition plans to meet my specific goals. He is very flexible with my schedule when setting up training sessions and always touches base to see how things are going to make sure I am happy with the results. I believe that the compatability with your trainer's style is crucial--so don't be afraid to say what kind of trainer you want during your consultation. I've worked out for years on my own, but after training with Ryan I believe the cost of personal training is absolutely worth it.

They have lots of good energy programs. They have good programs going on for kids and adults. I sometimes swim and use the gym. They have a beautiful pool and I find the hours very good. I have an option through my medical insurance where once I turned 65 they gave me a discount here but most people would be paying higher.

We are pretty satisfied with them.  I go there regularly.  It is a gym and I work out over there and my daughter takes dance classes over there.  We pay a monthly fee of $70.  They are fine and they have a lot of classes.  The facility is clean.  It is close proximity to where we live.
