Lasik Eye Surgery reviews in Portland

    Crews, Dr, Stanley L.

I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Crews to anyone who wants to get LASIK or cataract surgery. My husband and I initially had procedures done by Dr. Crews about 10 years ago. I had LASIK done and chose mono-vision because I was just starting to use reading glasses. The result was 20/15 in my distance eye and 20/20 for reading in my reading eye. So I went from wearing contacts and reading glasses to perfect vision. My adjustment to mono-vision was practically instantaneous after the surgery. My husband had PRK done, as his eyes were too deep set for LASIK. Even though the healing, etc. takes longer he also had excellent results.
Speed forward 10 years and, as Dr. Crews told me back then, there came the point where my reading eye needed a 'touch up' as my lens aged and required reading glasses again. I just had LASIK done again on just the one eye and left the office not needing reading glasses again (except for extremely fine print). My distance eye is 20/20. My husband developed cataracts in 2015 as well, so Dr. Crews replaced the bad lens in his left eye and has made adjustments so now my husband has the best vision in that eye that he's ever had. He will be going in to have PRK done again on his dominant eye next week (as his vision is correctable so the lens doesn't need replacing at this point).
If all of this doesn't convince you of how capable, fabulous, and professional Dr. Crews and his staff are what I have to say next will, especially if you are a parent.  Our youngest daughter is 24 and has worn glasses since the 3rd grade. She started wearing contacts as a teen and her sight has worsened over the years. We decided to give her the gift of LASIK since we both have had such tremendous results. Even though we have insurance that would pay 5% of getting a LASIK procedure elsewhere, we chose to have it done where we could trust the doctor to give our child the best results possible. Our kids are grown but I was a helicopter parent before they had a name for it so trust me when I tell you I would only let someone extremely qualified do medical procedures on my children. I drove her the day of her procedure and, even though she was really nervous (like her mother), she came through it like champ. Immediately after, just walking back to the exam room, she was marveling at being able to see things. Before, without glasses or contacts, she pretty much had to have her hand right in front of her face to see it. I brought her back the next morning, even though she could have driven herself, because some of us helicopters have a hard time landing. Her vision was already 20/20. She is beyond happy and thrilled with the results! Being so young she shouldn't have to deal with the reading glasses issue for a long time, at which point I'm guessing she'll have LASIK again and get mono-vision too. She has such an appreciation of this new found freedom and is reveling in it as she notices all the different ways it is making her life so much easier.

    Stanley Teplick MD
My resulting vision is better than 20-20, and I have had no post-op complications.  Dr. Teplick and his staff are professional, personable, and knowledgeable. Most of the team has been together for 10+ years, and that shows in how they communicate and operate. Places of business that keep their employees around for a long time are the places I want to visit because they care about their customers that way, too. Dr. Teplick does the eye surgery for the Portland Timbers, Thorn, and Blazers, which means that people who depend on their vision for their profession and are highly valuable to their employees have chosen Dr. Teplick.
As a result of being a top provider, they have equipment that no other providers have, and stay up on the latest and greatest approaches. The only downside with Dr. Teplick is that the services are expensive. You can certainly get Lasik surgery for less, but I figure where my eyes are concerned, it was most certainly worth it.

Dr Crews performed PRK monovision where one eye is ~20/40 with perfect reading vision, and the other is 20/20 perfect distance vision.  It's been over a year and a half, and I am completely happy with my results.  The first weekend was painful and it was hard to see for about 2 weeks, but the results steadily got better and better.  I am bummed I didn't do this years ago.  I will do again in the future as my reading vision declines.  A bonus of the procedure is that my eyes aren't chronically irritated now, so the bags under my eyes have disappeared.  : )

    Will Vision & Laser Centers
It was my first visit there and everything went very smoothly. Dr. Will has a computer program that is being considered being used in other office because it is so great at keeping track at patients eye care. He even wrote the program himself. My eyes were pretty bad and they told me right off the bad that I would probably need a few visits. I had a stroke and they have been great at working with me to get my eye sight right again. The doctors and staff are all very pleasant and personable. They know you by name and I had no problem getting in to see them. They have a beautiful office. Casey Eye Institute
I thought it was very professional and very thorough. Overall, it was very well done. My experience was overall excellent. I have no complaints with the care or followup or just the overall LASIK experience. It was great. The primary thing there was the many years of experience that the doctors there had. That was very impressive to me.

It was a reasonably good experience. They did a really good job of follow up care. The actually procedure was really quick and the follow up was excellent. There was nothing wrong.
