Portland Exterior Painters Reviews

"Overall
Portland Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
. did a very, very nice job painting the exterior of our house, however the follow through was not very good. Less than 6 months after the house was painted, we noticed some bubbling on the south side of the house.
The house was professionally stripped to bare wood prior to painting. When the house was ready,
Portland Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
came back and primed, prepped and painted the house with high quality paint in our three chosen colors. This was October of 2010.
In January of 2011, we first noticed the first bubbles.
Portland Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
came out and looked at them and was not sure why this was happening. They said that everything was done right, by the book. In corresponding with them by email, they suggested some solutions and times to come and try to fix the problem. The times they suggested were not conducive to painting a house, it was wet weather and cold winter temperatures. We had a three year guarantee on the work, so we thought we had time to find the right opportunity, schedule and weather permitting. In May 2013 they sent out a crew of two to power wash the problem areas to get them clean. The crew couldn’t tell me when they were coming back to complete the repair. They said we would be contacted when the repairs would happen. That never happened, we never heard from them, and that was very frustrating. When the crew had came out to power wash, they told me that they

’t paint old houses anymore and
Portland Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
’t come to the east side of Portland. This was never told to us at any point in in the original process.
In the prep stage, they used Bondo, (car type Bondo) for wood and nail hole fill. I was told a fairly usual practice in exterior painting. In some areas the Bondo did not adhere well and is detaching from the wood and the only thing that’s holding it to the house is the paint. We used a high quality paint on the exterior, but after two years it had faded very dramatically!! In most of the Bondo areas the paint has totally vanished to
Portland Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
the Bondo (Pink Bondo color) underneath. According to the painter, the Bondo was to become just like the wood, solid and we would never have to mess with it again.
The workmanship that the crew did was very good, if not excellent, nice crisp lines between the three colors we used for body, trim and accent. Aesthetically it is very beautiful. (except that the paint has faded so badly). The crews were excellent, always on time, friendly, cleaned up after themselves and stayed late to finish their work.
They did a very nice job in getting the house to look nice, but when the bubbling paint started happening, management dropped the ball. They just didn’t show enough timely interest in helping us correct the problems with the paint bubbles. The timing of their proposed fix dates was not acceptable because at those times the weather was either too cold, wet and not the right time of year to be doing exterior paint repairs.
If they would come back and really show interest in completing our repairs in a timely manner, paying attention to the correct time of year and weather, we would welcome them to fix the problem areas. This would have been a perfect job if
Portland Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
would have followed through with his warranty work.

"They got a late start because a previous client added more work that prevented them from starting our job. The painting got done really quickly, but the other work took longer. The guys are really nice and Treated our home with great respect and professionalism.

"Our basement flooded and we had to repair everything including drywall, baseboards, reframing doors and flooring. It was incredibly stressful. However,
Portland Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
was the best part of the entire project and I cannot say enough about the level of his professionalism . He was ALWAYS on time and prepared. Sometimes even ahead of the game or at least it seemed so because of how quickly he would adapt to an ever evolving situation. He was one of the most professional people I have ever had work done with and a genuinely nice person to be around. He was very knowledgable giving us advice and talking about options but he made sure that we were happy with what he was doing. He was very flexible working around the other contractors and when he was delayed from other people not getting their work done not only did he not make excuses(which I heard a lot of on this project) he stepped up to finish things starting early and finishing late to make sure the work got done and we stayed on track to finish. His workmanship is awesome and he is very efficient! I am a perfectionist and being able to completely trust someone in a situation like this is invaluable. He is very thorough and very precise and it definitely shows in his work. I could not be more thrilled and will definitely be asking him back for future projects! I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone needing painting/staining done.

"From the bid to completion of the project every detail was addressed thoroughly.
Portland Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
was very helpful in guiding me as I choose colors and paint types. My questions were answered promptly and completely. Once underway, the men who completed the work showed attention to every detail of the project. All items listed on the bid, such as cleaning, sanding of rough wood, caulking, removal of light fixtures to paint behind, and the double coat of paint was done meticulously. The men were personable, courteous and each day the area was left in a tidy condition. At the conclusion of the project

"As we went along other things cropped up like enclosing/boxing in an upstairs railing whose spindles were favorites with my 3 large wood-crunching parrots, replacing/rehanging doors, repairing a casement window so it would actually close, essentially rebuilding the hall closet including insulating and sheathing the exterior subfloor - it was completely open to the elements which explained the cold and damp. And much, much more. They were extremely accommodating of my scheduling changes and provided service way above and beyond any expectation I had. Everyone was pleasant and respectful and did really nice work - they took pride in their jobs. The house looks amazing. I'll definitely work with
Portland Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
again.

"They removed all the doors, towel racks, lighting fixtures and window coverings and completely covered the carpets, kitchen appliances, and bath fixtures with paper to protect the surfaces.
They then painted the ceilings and walls to perfection. I'm a perfectionist and so are these painters. Afterwards I went around with blue tape where any minor touch-up was needed and that was taken care of.
Portland Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
, the head painter and crew chief, does amazing work - these guys really know their stuff.
They are always on time, careful with the property, and clean up completely after they are done. While they may be more expensive than some of the painters around, their professionalism and quality work is well worth the expense.

"Then
Portland Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
(the owner) HANDED ME A $1,800 BILL for "the privilege of receiving their bid." I was also told "
Portland Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
, you are smarter than you look" when I patiently explained how nothing we did together was chargable. No contracts had been signed and no work was done with an architect/engineer. I also up front made sure that the "chicken scratch ideas off the top of our heads" were not chargable. Very disappointing experience."

"I called four contractors about painting my home, which hadn't been painted in nearly 11 years and had issues with cracked siding, peeling/faded paint and water damage in a couple of areas.
The first had also done the interior of the home and did a good job, but took nearly six weeks to complete, and his estimate was the highest of all four. He also was unsure about some needed repairs to exterior siding. The second met me at the house, gave me the second-lowest estimate, didn't mention any issues with the home beyond that they'd scrape off the peeling paint before applying two coats of the paint of my choice. When I asked about it, he said that I would need to investigate and get someone to fix anything I wanted painted, before his crew arrived.
The third called and left a message to say he was at my house, on the roof, and that he'd leave an estimate in my mailbox. A week later I got a piece of paper with a number--the lowest estimate of the four--scrawled across in big letters, but nothing else. The fourth (
Portland Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
), met me at the house and walked through the job with me. He correctly identified all the problems (and pointed out the chimney damage. We discussed how he'd paint, color possibilities, what he'd do, and he offered to arrange a subcontractor to repair the worst parts of a badly mangled deck refinish. His estimate was second-highest. I picked
Portland Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
. We had some small misunderstandings about final pricing (which he resolved by apologizing and giving me the price I'd expected), and scheduled the job. He had some good suggestions about color choices that I think improved the job, and his crew was prompt (very nice guys, BTW) and professional.
The job took three days to complete.
Portland Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
's first and second picks for subcontractors to work on the chimney and deck damage backed out, and by the time he arranged for a third, the paint job was done and it was raining too much to start the chimney. The deck was completed (and looks great), and
Portland Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
will get to the rest of it in the spring.
I would definitely recommend
Portland Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
for interior or exterior painting work.
