The Portland Clinic - Tigard Office
Got me off oral antibiotics and steroids for the most part and now I use nasal rinses with the antibiotics and steroids in them, as well as nasal sprays. Much better for my overall health. C-scans are done in timely manner. I rarely, if ever, have to wait to see the doctor and have a C-scan done. Appreciate the way they value my time.

yet to receive anything from their office but a bill for services that were not provided.  I called and placed a complaint with the Oregon Medical Board.  However, their office continues to bill us for a visit that they refused us acess to,  using Facetime so that I could hear our daughter and the physician's conversation.  Our daughter was 14 years old at the time.

    Varela, Dr. Adrian E.
This practice has helped me immensely. I have sleep apnea, medium-bad, and wanted to know if there was anything in my nose or throat contributing to that problem. Dr. Adrian Varela scoped my nose and discovered a deviated septum, enlarged tonsils, and overgrown turbinates. In May, 2015, he did my surgery to correct these. That surgery was done very well, and I'm already seeing benefits: much better air flow when I breathe, and an improved sense of smell due to that air flow. I want to commend Dr. Varela, John Billinger, P.A., the sleep test personnel, and all the nurses I've seen. This is a caring and professional ENT practice.

    Lake Grove ENT
I saw Dr Schettler for a possible sinus infection and I liked her office demeanor. She seemed professional and competent. It turned out not to be a sinus infection, and upon my second visit she prescribed prednisone to reduce tissue inflammation, beginning at 40mg, which I started the next morning. A few hours after taking the 40mg, my HR went up and remained well above normal, and I had an *excruciating* headache that lasted for almost 8 hours (and I was taking aspirin and pain-killers to try to curb it), and of course it was almost midnight until I could sleep. The next morning I called to ask for "next steps" and see if I should reduce the dosage, since I had no intention of going through another day like that. I was directed to leave a message since Dr Schettler was busy. That was approximately 9am. I called again at about 11am (since I still had not resumed the prednisone and wanted to know what to do next). I was told she was busy and would be leaving after lunch, but that she would return my call. At 1pm I called again and was told she had left for the day but might call that evening. She never called. At 9am the *next* morning I called and was sent back to her MA, who curtly told me to "reduce the dosage to 20mg" and gave no other directions for tapering off.
After one day at 20mg (which was unpleasant but not as bad), I went to a GP who did an exam, took me off the prednisone and put me on a nasal spray steroid and said it might take longer but that I wouldn't have the side effects. Within 24 hours I was much better. Although I did not tell the GP who it was I had seen, the GP asked several questions (including the new schedule for the prednisone -- to which I shrugged, since that information had not been given). Upon leaving the exam roon, the GP said, "If you ever leave me a message, I will return your call by the end of the day." I will definitely be returning to that GP, but not to Lake Grove ENT.
In terms of office staff, I found one of the receptionists to be quite friendly, and the other very much not so, therefore the "C" for staff friendliness.

    Paul Kaplan MD
Dr. Kaplan was recommended to me by another doctor that was retiring and not taking any new patients.  This was my first time seeing him.  I liked him right away.  He was kind, calm and thorough.  I can't remember the last time a doctor gave me as much time as I needed to talk about what was bothering me, but Dr. Kaplan did.  I never felt rushed and never felt I was being talked down to.  I felt truly cared for.  Luckily, what was wrong was minor, so he sent me off feeling much relieved.

    Paul Kaplan MD
I have always been very pleased with Dr. Kaplan's straightforward manner. He tells me what I need to know in a candid and logical way, without hiding behind a list of caveats and legalese. Along the way, he has suggested surgery, but never pressured me to choose that path. He also helped me find another doctor for a second opinion. Even though the other doctor has a national reputation, I found Dr. Kaplan to be more trustworthy. In addition, I don't think anyone could have done a better job of the surgery.
The result of the surgery has been fantastic. My recovery time was relatively short and the scars have healed beautifully. I noticed improvement the moment I woke in the recovery room, which was a big surprise.
I had a few activities scheduled in the two weeks after surgery which Dr. Kaplan did not recommend. He gave me clear perspective ("it won't cause any damage, but if it were me, I wouldn't do it"), but after seeing my progress, he altered his recommendation instead of sticking with a standard warning. In other words, he knows what he's doing and he's willing to change his opinion as he monitors progress.
I have the highest opinion of Dr. Kaplan's style (though you might prefer a different style). During my years of chronic sinus infection, he always diagnosed correctly and effectively explained what was happening. As for his surgical skill, I'm extremely impressed.
If you have allergy and sinus issues, you should set up an appointment with Dr. Kaplan. There's a very good chance you'll be pleased.

    Cleland, Dr. Suzanne S.
It was a good experience. In fact I had been to my primary doctor who didn't treat my symptoms correctly but he did refer me to an ENT. I think I have been to her once before many years ago and so I revisited her and it turned out to be good. She did give me the correct medication for my condition and it worked out. Her staff was okay considering I wasn't the best of shape when I showed up. Her office is very small. I didn't have to wait long.

I saw Dr. Lindgren a few years back for sinus trouble. He detected a deviated septum and performed surgery to fix it and open me up. I continued to have trouble and went back in. He then determined that I also had trouble with my jaw (tmj) and needed to quit chewing gum! I stopped and it did help. Weird, but it worked.
I saw him again a few months ago after a fall where I hit my nose on a metal railing. After a quick look, he determined that I had shattered my nose "like an eggshell." He can assess conditions quickly and really knows his stuff.
I've had to call him now and again and he always gets back to me promptly.

    Kaiser Permanente Sunnybrook
What I didn’t like about them was that my son needed some hearing test done and he had some ear blocks in his ear and only after multiple appointments we had the ear blocks removed.  By the time we were able to get back in to do a hearing exam he needed the ear blocks to be removed again.  Their scheduling is way out and that’s why we had multiple appointments.  They were on time.  I actually got into a confrontation because of the mix that they had and the staff had chosen to argue with me.  Their communication was fine.  I like Kaizer but just not that department.  I don’t have much medical choices so I need to be with them.

    Cleland, Dr. Suzanne S.
I went to my appointment with Dr. Cleland and she was on time with my appointment. The bedside manner and communication was extraordinary. She is very reassuring. The office staff and environment was also very pleasant. I would go back anytime and refer her to anyone. I was a nurse for many years and I feel like I have a pretty good understanding and insight on to how things work in medical offices, and this was a very efficient facility.
