Chimney Sweeping reviews in Portland

    Evergreen Gas Heating & Cooling
Shaun and Jonathan worked tirelessly to complete the project. I was to install a stone mosaic rug before they connected the fire pit. I injured my back and had to put my part of the project on hold. They were very accommodating, working around my recovery. They worked with me to make sure the fire pit was leveled and situated for the best view in the garden. They converted the pit to accommodate natural gas. That allowed me to order a less expensive wood burning fire pit and have them reconfigure it. After digging trenches and laying the pipeline, they were careful to put everything back as it was. I was totally satisfied with their work.

I have worked with Chimney Sweep Specialist for several years to assist my clients with their needs, they are always prompt in responding and I have found over the years that I have worked with them their pricing is very fair and the quality of their work is excellent. I highly recommend them for any Chimney and masonry work.

    American Chimney & Masonry
The estimate process was detailed, thorough and immediate (as in that day). We scheduled but had to cancel, and then reschedule and they got us on the schedule right away. Day of, the crew was friendly, punctual and got right to sealing off the multiple areas of work from dust and brought in special equipment to ventilate the house. Over the two days the crew skillfully removed 2 tons of brick without damage to the surrounding structure (including 1928 moldings) and kept the dust to a minimum. Great crew! Definitely would recommend!

    Chimney Sweep Specialist
Chimney Sweep Specialist was the quickest to arrive and give me a bid, the cheapest bid by about 30%, and were flexible in squeezing in this quick job in between other jobs. Only problem is that when I went to check the work (re-doing the flashing into two short roof chimneys where they connect to the roof), there were multiple holes in the mortar that hadn't been caulked. There was some caulk, but it missed multiple spots where water would enter. I emailed photos and asked them to return to fix it, they replied, "Yes, we'll return to fix it next week." No oops, no sorry, no acknowledgement that I shouldn't have had to climb on the roof to check the work. So when I followed up a week and a half later to ask if it was done, they said yes, and I checked the work again. It appeared that the holes were filled on one chimney, but not the other. Including two that I literally had sent a picture of in my first email. They were a much cheaper bid than others, so I went ahead and paid but gave them feedback about quality control. UPDATE: I received a message saying 'I will send my main mason over next week to fix everything correctly .'" I will update the review upon completion of the 2nd "fix." UPDATE: I received an apology and responsive email from the company, "My main mason is heading over today to fix what needs to be done and I apologize about my other technician not fixing what he needed to Sent from my iPhone" The work was fixed on January 2nd, almost a month after the original job was completed.

Really well. travis inspected the fireplace and chimney, determined that it did not need to be cleaned and suggested installing a spark arrestor top to the chimney that also prevents rain from entering the top. After conferring with me on the phone he was able to do the instalation on the same visit.

    Tip Top Chimney Sweep
Got three bids. One was from a large Portland company that charged me $142 for the inspection of the chimney, where the guy took pictures, spent a lot of time (an hour) with me to explain all it needed, and then gave me a bid of something around $4,000. He explained that I had many loose bricks and they needed replacing besides some tuckpointing, sweeping, and waterproofing. Bid two was from a smaller company. Said I didn't need to replace bricks, just tuckpoint. With cleaning, tuckpointing, sealing of the flashing and waterproofing, the bid was $1875. Tobias Watts, owner of Tip Top Chimney Sweep, came out and agreed that I did not need to replace any bricks, just tuckpoint. He came out when the weather was decent, did the tuckpointing, waterproofed and swept the chimney, and even painted and sealed the flashing. All for $850. It looks great, and what makes this a rave review is that Tobias is not only an experienced, competent chimney servicer, but he's also a rare contractor - someone who's word is gold and who takes pride in his work and in providing the best service for his customers. Couldn't be better.

I really liked the young man who came out. He was courteous, informative and didn't mind my yapping pugs. I have a double sided fireplace so there were two separate glass door screens to clean. I would definitely recommend them. Although they are in Salem, they came out to SW Portland at no additional charge.

    Chimney Sweep Specialist
I initially hired them to clean/inspect the chimney in my recently purchased 1927 house. They found that the chimney had some serious issues and rather than push for the "fix" that would provide them the most money (rebuilding chimney) they presented me with several options that were more cost effective. In the end I chose to have the unsafe chimney removed and reuse the fire box to install a gas insert. Chimney Sweep Specialists did a great job removing the chimney. This involved putting up scaffolding, deconstructing the chimney, and hauling all the debris away. All this was done with zero impact to the house and yard (they left everything looking better than when they arrived) and in a relatively short period of time. All through the process (inspection, explaining the options, answering all of my detailed questions over a period of several days/weeks, scheduling demo to meet my schedule and the actual demo) they were quick to answer questions and explain things clearly. I would highly recommend them.

Bid price was good, communication was great, workmanship excellent. They were able to squeeze us into their busy schedule. We just bought the house and several projects were pending, starting with the roof, so Chimney was first.

The service was rescheduled twice last minute due to a shortage of technicians. One of the times we rescheduled I was told by someone on the phone that it was rescheduled but when I checked later it hadnt actually been confirmed. I chose not to try to reschedule a 3rd time.
